    Coffee Shop Pergamino Cafe, SIMÓN COFFEE, Cafe Velvet Medellin just so everyone has the names. I saved them all on my google maps and the last one is still Cafe Velvet on google maps.

    I went to Pergamino in Oviedo once, and tried to order a couple of poached eggs. The girl at the counter apparently never heard of "poached eggs" within the seconds convening a meeting with coworkers. The look on the others' faces was the same - as I asked for some exotic asian or african food. A person from the line behind me,apparently a local, stepped in trying to explain them what poached egg was, in much more perfect Spanish than mine, at no avail. Eventually I got something jelly-like in a small bowl that was more suitable to drink. I guess it is easier to charge US level prices , which is what i paid, without teaching your employees some basic stuff that may be ordered by foreigners. But I learned my lesson and since prefer to eat at the local joints, rather than in places that try to position themselves for the likes of nomads and tourists.

      Yes it’s still very much a developing country.

    • @karenlopez6369
      @karenlopez6369 Před měsícem +1

      You’re going to another country with different food than your original country and you are demanding that they have the food that you have in your country. I think that would be called a bad tourist

    • @eohappy
      @eohappy Před měsícem

      @@karenlopez6369 before calling me names i.e. bad tourist, please be aware that 1) I am not a tourist, I partially live in Medellín, it's my second home. 2) I know exactly where I am going, it's pergamino that caters predominantly to the international standards, and charges way higher prices for that. 3) you would have been right if I walked into a Colombian traditional establishment and "demanded" something like that, but no, pergamino has a completely different clientele and the Colombians that were there agreed with me, they also have very different expectations from pergamino

    The pancakes salado at pergamino is surprisingly good, it's a corn based pancake with bacon, and the Honey butter toast at simon is also worth a look. But for brunch overall i'd go to Marmettina over Amsterdam plaza....if i want something fast like an egg sandwich, Breggs.

    I am a frequent visitor to Bogota from the US. I am usually very content in food in Bogota. Some of the restaurants in Bogota are better than those of NY where I live. However, when I have visited Medellin many times, I could not have finished meal for the most of the times due to lack of taste at expensive restaurants. I wish I could find a good one in Medellin. Any recommendations?

    Why are you going to coffee shops for food? In the same zona, you could find some great restaurants that have pretty decent coffee, and you wouldn't be asking coffee-shop people to play out of their wheelhouse.
