I'v played a lot d2 old school and d2 resurrected.
Idk if in d4 it's the same but I'll n d2 (old school or resurreced) if you are strong you don't need to drink potion like beer in a Pub.
You will leech life and mana for every hit done and with some item you gain life and mana from hit you receive...for exaple if you get hitted with 100 of freeze dmg you can absorb it traforming a N% of dmg in mana and a little % of this mana will be converted in life. (Raven frost ring do that)
But you need obviously the right equip to do that.
Cause only frost dmg can be converted in mana and life by this ring.
Physical attack must be converted by other kind of item and you don't need pay to win in d2 if you are a good player.
That's cause Musk can buy all blizzard and buy all the elite equip he want with money , this item are farmed and selled by other player.
But i see he drink a lot of potion so probably or it's at the start of in d4 there is not the possibility to transfer item in othe account selling them.
If that's the true respect cause he don't use boost buying item.
In the old school Diablo i'v found a stone of Jordan and after that Wind Force bow (there wasn't rune to make faith or myst or pride) and Eagle Horn bow.
Legit farmed.
There was 8 a player game and we was 4 next to each other when unidentified unique Hydra bow was dropped.
Ha stroke was behind the door while all of us run to take that's drop and after saw the Wind Force unidentified in my inventory a was falling from the chair.

as someone who has 3k hours in poe, i can't agree with you. Poe gets boring quick, just levelled a few characters in settlers already and did the league mechanic a bit im already over it.
