That moment when you dont have a problem with otb but you still wanna watch a gmbn video
I don't even have a mountain bike or even go riding. Beat that.
well that sucks for you :P
Finally, something on a GMBN video i can actually do on a bike!!! ;-)
I don't always go OTB, but when I do, I frontflip the whole damn thing
absolute legend!
Blake sound transition effects is awesome.
Obviously Blake was the OTB test subject
Poor fella getting bullied by the don and Scotty 😂😂
Phil.R. He got the biggest Balls thaz the only reason
Another tip: set your front brake lever to give you more progressive travel vs sharp initial stopping power. Then if you do panic, you'll have further to pull before that front brake fully engages. I just went OTB tonight on a flat sidewalk trying to stop before hitting a skunk at night. Grabbed the front brake and I went over easily almost like I'd planned it. Also, my front fork was set very soft.
"Dropper Seat Post", greatest leap forward for MTBing
Another tip - DO NOT try to switch your Canyon Strive's Shapeshifter into XC mode when riding fast.
At was at this moment he knew
He went over the bars
What did you think I was going to say
Jamie Green And then he didn't.
Great tips and demonstrations guys! However, because everyone will fall eventually, have you thought about doing a video "How to fall (better)". In this video you demonstrated otb falls well. In "How to fall (better)" -video you could give quidelines or demonstrate about principless how one should try to fall when it happen's and how to minimize damages when crashing.
Advices like "learn how to do ukemi (try to tuck and roll)", "remember to strech and try to be as flexibel as possible" or "don't let go of your handlebar too soon" are something I have noticed useful.
Antti Ström They already said in a dirt shed show that they don't wanna do this and that crashing usually happens so fast that you don't have time to even do anything to soften the landing
Seconded! I used to be good at crashing, but nowadays really struggle with separating myself from the bike. So any tips on how to get better at that would help.
To be honest, I don’t really buy the “it happens so fast, you don’t have time to react” argument: There’s a good reason why in several martial arts the first thing you are taught is how to fall properly, and why practicing those techniques is part of the regular training regime.
Oh, I haven't seen that episode. It is true that most of the crashes happen really fast and left rider think "what the *** just happened". I don't want that guys of the network would start crashing but I'm sure they have some tips how to (try) keep from getting hurt when crashing.
Terephthalat, I think it is some kind of "art of falling" that you can be good at or get better. It is true that many crashes happen too fast to think nothing but afterwards. However you can train gymnastics like tuck and roll or other skills which you will perform like a reflex when crashing.
My son says learning to fall in a foam pit is good....but younger people just bounce better.
i love these instructional videos. i'm 53 and good shape, i commute by bike so i want to do urban xc/ bike parcour and do some rad trails. i need some skill training and your vids rock it.
thanks for the refresher in anti-OTB tips
Neil, your bike looks awesome with the Reynolds rims 👍🏼
I went over the bars a couple weeks ago, still recovering from a broken wrist but I can't wait to get back on the bike!
nice video!!!
you guys forgot about getting bucked by shock and leaning forward and landing front wheel on a jump.. Nice vid!!
Nice video guys. That happened to me before and it's cost me a wrist broken hahahha, but I learned a lot just practicing with the time and by your great videos.
I practice cross country :)
Cheers.
This is both useful and hilarious
Great tips, maybe add how to minimize damage to one's self when actually going OTB.
that reynolds wheelset looks super nice!
Nice vid thx :)
It might seem a strange thing but I quite like the fact that I know a fair amount of the trails u film on! Love these trails and been there a few times but never have I thought about deliberately going over the bars😂😂
went over the bars again today, so came back to watch this video again haha
I loved Blake's effects :D XD
love this video. I went over my bars the other day when I was trying to do a moving endo. whoops!
I oddly go otb, when my front wheel gets caught up, i try to put all my weight to the rear, pushing my self away from the front or handlebars, so that its more difficult to get my weight over the pivot, its sort of like doing a high stopie but when i do go otb, i will have enough room for my legs to free themselves from the bike, detaching is essential once you go otb.
How about a video on bailing out?
L N i just tuck and roll as best as you can. better to do that than take full impact
My favourite trick
Why didn't you made this before? Broke my clavicule by going over the bars... :)
Blake is freaking awesome xD
Noticed the extra effort they put in with the small sound effects.
Great videos guys, love GMBN. Can you do a video on GPS devices for mountainbiking? I am thinking about getting one for longer rides and riding some tracks from the internet (gpsies.com etc.), but don´t know if it´s that useful on Singletracks and small trails. Also, which one would you recommend?
Thanks, is there a video that shows the best things to do to not go otb's when you're already airborne?
i went OTB when i tried a drop off. was quite a big one as well
old Blake, he's the man the stunt man
hey blake, how about a video how to go over the bars with style? nice one, guys
Helmut Breuer hahaha sounds good like a good plan.
Hi, how can stop otb in jumps
I make bunny hop technique and still make me otb
My problem with otb is my jump mechanics. I land front heavy far to often and is the biggest contribution to eating dirt head first.
#GMBN OMG what a big wheels Neil ! =-D
Blake, can you do an OTB by nosing casing a double please?
Will we ever get a video on How to adjust coil suspensions?
Very easy, turn it a way around, or do it the other way around
Neil looks so tiny at 2:21 ahhaahahha
Is scott Chenoa 700 MD 18 a good mountain bike?
make a video about how to not scare big jumps i always wonted to go big but i am worried about distance
my friend needed this sooner he went OTB
If you wanna see some crashes and otbs, please watch my new video on my channel!
Another great GMBN video, loved the sounds effects Blake aha!
I do suffer from OTB, and my doctor told me it might has something to do with the fact that my Specialized Epic has a 71 degree head angle and a 95mm front suspension travel, or I just might suck at clearing drops, YOU TELL ME!
today i went to my local trail because they have a new rockgarden and i wanted to try it out . i went otb twice that thay lol
What about when your jumping. I see people crash because they go over the handles bars in mid-air, or roll forward. How do you avoid it.
Haha I just go OTB on a berm and ripped my brand new BOX One derailleur into two parts. Dunno how that happened ...
..
So what's it actually like going over the bars, never tried it, is there time to prepare for landing or is it just smack into the dirt head first?
Had the rear in the air a couple of times, but never actually went over the bars - guess this means i know my brakes pretty well, or i just build up my own kind of traction control in my fingers and ass.
what is that new scott?
its AMAZING
i meant the grey bike. i haven't seen it before so either its new or i just completely missed it
are those 29" wheels on that LT? clearance on the fork is so small...
do we need to use our brakes during a front bunny hop?
I see Blakes got a new 2017 Scott Genius and he's already crashing on it haha
I notice the gmbn crew all ride full suspension bikes, except when they are trying to sell the hard tail.
I once fell over the bars and broke one of my brake levers another costly part I have to replace.
@gmbn I watched this video and went for a ride about 30 minutes later... went over the bars in a BIG way but I'm fine lol
Oscar winning stunting!
i keep having problems with my shoes and pedals. My shoes wont grip on properly, so i cant do bunnyhops, rear wheel lifts, and my feet keeps on slipping off the pedals when i try to get some air time. should i get new shoes/pedals?? pls help meee
If your shoes aren't gripping the pedals properly then yes you should replace either or both!
I have a friend that gets called oaty cause he always Oaty Bees XD... Hes actually pretty good now but back when we were learning that was his speciality crash
I ikr
I just crashed like 2 days ago and its over the bar because of my stupidity for getting excited in downhill and now my shoulder feels like it's broken and I got a lot of bruises
Who went otb just for videos sake? Brave soul.
Anyone know what type of canyon that is? (The red and black one with Fox kashima forks and a carbon frame?)
That's a Canyon Exceed CF SLX 9.9 SL...a great XC Bike :)
i call the front brake the bye bye switch
Went OTB yesterday, I hope never again
I find that I get too far back when it's steep then lose the front end as I try and steer at the bottom
I dislocated my shoulder by going over the bars just dislocated it for 6 times right now so yeah operation just incoming next month but no one will stop me living my dram man
Backflip tutorial please
🤘
I have only gone over once and it was on purpose cause I was watching a video saying get used to going over so I did and I didn't do it again because it bent my derailleur
I'm years too late here apologies. You guys missed the greatest front braking ally and all around dual shred technique; light hands and heavy feet. Driving the body mass through the BB axle versus the handlebars fixes the problems unless it's about air time.
I went over my bars today ; )
It was just too mudy and my front wheel stuck in the mud!
No excuse after watching this video!
Jes! ; )
I have so powerless front brake that I have no fear of OTB =P
also: going too slow through a rock garden, if you dont have enough momentum then the front wheel wont be able to roll over rocks and will instead bring you to a dead stop.
I need help keeping the bike straight when jumping, it always goes side ways, look at it from the top: \
hey can I get some advice on my new mtb channel
Blake should be a professional OTB-Stuntman he does it pretty well an impressive 😂😉☺️
I just went otb
Is it more worth it to get a street trials bike or a slope style bike
lilnoogied .n if you have dirt jumps near you then DJ if not then I would go for street trails. But remember that they are two very different styles of riding
I know there very different but what about for only street tricks
#askgmbn is it okay to reuse your old spokes to build your new wheel?
No. Spokes stretch and wear so you should use new ones when building up a new wheel. That way everything wears in together :)
Is it just me or at 2:33 Neil's wheels look different sizes??
tire pressure and tire size i think bruh
Patrick Sheard kinda lol
What?! NO guarantees after watching that I will never go OTB again?
How is rowberrow riding in the shite weather? Haven't been for a while...
Alex Roberts not great
Dean Ellis thought as much.. Might wait till next month!
My dumbass went otb two days in a row. 1st on my new Scott Scale doing over a large root. 2nd on my Super V. Son crashed in front of me and I was going over a 2ft mount on tight single track. Had to slam on brakes to avoid running over him. It worked but I went otb. Man does that suck at speed. Lol
i want to start downhill mountainbiking but dont have any mates to ride with
What full suspension bikes aren't just for going downhill?
Vince King Those with 80 mm of travel
When i was just using my bike having fun then when i turn 1 direction a parked bike was on my face so i fall down
Wouldn't a solution to a lot of these problems be just getting rid of the suspension (especially the front) entirely? After all, a lot of expert mountain bikers prefer a hardtail and suspension is something relatively new anyway.
anyone know what kind of bike Blake is riding in this video? #askgmbn
It's a Scott Genius :)
I almost went over the bars landing from a jump.
Anyone care to explain how that happened?
Thanks
Was your weight too far forward or did you land front wheel first with your arms locked out?
honestly it all happened so fast, but my guess a combination of both weight to far forward and front wheel first.
It could also be a 'getting bucked' sensation. If you have rear suspension check the rebound isn't returning too fast or check out this video to try track down whats going wrong and how to fix it: czcams.com/video/VwBDzITzpZo/video.html :)
что он говорил про кросс кантри, там про седло и вынос, можете пожалуйста перевести, спасибо.
Иван Скачко я не понимаю много по-русский, но он скасал что кросс кантри байк опасно. Это хорошый ответ? :)
Matt Stephens might benefit from this.
#askgmbn what is your favourite place to ride ?
Is it possible to modify a Cross country in an enduro bike ???
No - they're too different! Here's a video to help you with the differences: czcams.com/video/Udf-5Xh3UsY/video.html
I know you have no reason to believe me over GMBN, but you can definitely change your XC bike to ride a lot more like an all mountain/enduro bike. First off all, tires. Big and aggressive. then short stem / wide bars, and a dropper post. That, and running your suspension more progressively by adding volume spacers will help with bottoming out. While you'll still have XC geometry like long chainstays, short top tube, and steep headangle, these changes still make a big impact that allow you to ride an XC bike more aggressively.
Global Mountain Bike Network ok thanks :)
Global Mountain Bike Network Ok but my bike when I purchase the seller told me that it was an enduro when the suspentions the front and rear 140 instead of 160
i have never done this, i wonder how
The only think I learnt from this video is how to go over the bars safely for an edit
Ha Blake
Why he its no PEDALING?
I broke my nose going over the bars
ToMb _ViPeRz keep riding 💪
felpel102 have done will do and shall keep doing, thanks man
Ouch!...OTB is horrible, probably the commonest type of fall.
