*Todd, Your dad certainly sounded like a he was so self absorbed in himself... thinking that he was the greatest lover on earth. But from two of his marriages, he helped a 'little' to produce 4 wonderful kids and they were all raised by two great mothers. So the question is, did he ever improve in the sack... but I guess not, seeing how many times he married & divorced... all short marriages. Debbie 1955-1959 ... Liz Taylor 1959-1964 ... Connie Stevens 1967-1969 ... Terry Richard 1975-1976 .... Betty Lin 1993-Died2001 - wiki is a great source of info.. Upon the book's publication, his daughter Carrie declared: "I'm thinking of having my DNA fumigated. Oh Carrie you are so missed... as is Debbie. You both rest in peace.🙂.*

I am 73 now. Todd's parents were a generation ahead of me but I loved Debbie. Toward the end of her career, maybe 20 years ago now, she was still playing very small venues (Maybe Todd was with her doing her sound). We went and saw her in Lancaster, PA, Amish country. She was still great and doing it for the fun of doing it at that stage in her life. Eddie was really a self centered and awful human being. He was so hurtful to her, and likely to his kids as well. Clearly, Todd does not seem to have any good feelings. When Eddie wrote this book, for money and for his drugs and lifestyle, he was not thinking about the hurt it could cause her but only about himself. What kind of man does that? Not only that, but he was not even thinking that his hurtful words would live on for eternity and affect his kids, grandkids, etc. The public does not need to know this trash and it is just a shame he felt the need to put this all out there.

    1) In the intro to Singin' in the Rain, between the star credits and the rest, the three are all walking in downpour under umbrellas with galoshes and raincoats, so Eddie's memory wasn't totally incorrect. 2) Debbie DID make a movie with Robert Wagner but it was in 1959 and when Debbie was 20 it was 1952. 3)The red car in front of which Debbie is standing IS, in fact, a T-bird. Since they married in '55, he probably brought it in fall of '54. 4) Richard Burton said of ET that every night was like a one night stand, so it probably was the same with Eddie and he was probably gaga about that. I remember hearing Eddie in the very early 50s, when I was very young. I also remember seeing him sing on the Academy Awards (I think it was '61 and the song was Tonight). He was a good singer. I actually was impressed with the cut of his tuxedo! I didn't sew then so can't figure out why that caught my attention, except for the camera angle. There was no pucker in the set-in sleeve.

The truth is, I imagine back in those days, if a woman wasn’t satisfied, she was a “bad lay” and it would be considered her fault. I think in her later years, she had a lot of fun talking with Elizabeth Taylor and Connie Stevens about Eddie. I’m sure they exchanged interesting stories and laughed. She wrote a funny story in her book about getting her mom a vibrator because she knew her mom never had an orgasm. She seemed strangely obsessed with her parents sex life for some reason. It’s cute in an eccentric sort of way and that’s what made her an interesting person.
