DeSmith is a true pro. He battled hard tonight and he singly handedly won us this game.

they were blocking shots all over and playing responsibly in front of the net (ecept in the 3rd) so they made it alot easier for him but he looked good if he can keep it up we may be ok

Special teams combined with great defence and incredible goal tending won this game. Nashville was out to draw blood but the TEAM came out on top with the win.

I love that they left the lane open and let DeSmith make saves and then shut down rebounds. Shows that the boys can adjust when they need to. The nerves seemed to be gone. Be nice to see them crack 25 shots in a game though!

There was one point during the second period where Lindholm was shoving Nyquist from the shot path right in front of the net. The team really seams to be clearing the shooting lane for DeSmith and I find it very impressive.

Good analysis from Tocchet. Good defensive zone coverage, but Nashville got into the D zone way too easily. They did well, but I think they'd do better with a modified trap. The Canucks have the skill to beat teams with limited chances, so just block everyone out. Make it hell to cross their blue line and then let them make a mistake. Each team is different.

Not really concerned with the low shots. They are not a shoot and crash the net kind of team, been low on shots all year, much rather cycle and create solid chances/plays, some of which may not hit the net. Offensive zone time much more important stat!

Am i the only one who wants to see more front foot, impose our will on the game attacking hockey ? giving the opponent too much respect playing defense the whole game stuck in the mud generating 12 shots on net.... thats not what got us here. I get that we play for more risk averse without demko to insulate the 1.2 million$ goalie v having the 7 million dollar goalie back there. However, think ahead.... will this brand of hockey get it done vs Avalanche, Vegas, Dallas, Edmonton, the Jets? Paralysis by over analysis and extreme rigid systems play is stifling people like Petersson. Hes basically a 12 million dollar Checker at this point.

I thought he made a couple good plays tonight and wasn't a problem defensively. Would be lovely to see him score and really get going. I bet that will come soon enough. He's going through something... not sure we'll ever totally know what it is. It may just be that he's getting too in his own head thinking he should be performing better and trying to earn that pay cheque. Whatever it is... he'll work through it. All players go through it at some point. Playing in a market like Vancouver can make it even worse because you hear all the chatter and you know a whole city (a whole province!) is questioning your every move.
