    I have a Zephyrus M16 and buying it was one of the worst mistakes of my life. The legion is cheaper, runs cooler at all instances and therefore gives better fps ovr, high performance on quite mode as well. Asus build quality and heat management is arse. Nice video

    I bought two gaming laptops, the first being this (lenovo legion slim 5 oled). The other was the ASUS G14 oled, the 2024 model with 4070. These are my take aways after alternating both for daily work and gaming for two weeks;
    - The G14 looks a lot better, is smaller and sleek design. Speakers are REALLY good, I’d say similar to MacBook Pro. The display is also fantastic, just like the Lenovo (both being OLED).
    - The G14 thermals are VERY bad. I like to occasionally lie in bed or do some light tasks with the laptop on the lap. Even with undervolting, eco modes and similar methods it still got too hot eventually. Gaming and using the built in keyboard was not an enjoyable experience if you play for more than an hour.
    - The G14 battery life was similar to the Lenovo on medium usage (G14 was very good with everything turned down, similar method didn’t affect the Lenovo..)
    - I actually prefer the gaming experience in the Lenovo, even though the G14 had a better GPU (and double the cost..). Just felt smoother and a lot cooler. As with every gaming lap top, the fan noise during heavy load is way too loud.
    - Lying in bed didn’t overheat the Lenovo at all! Watched tv shows and even played some less demanding games on the silent mode, one of the best experience in a long time!
    All in all, I prefer the Lenovo over ASUS. For me the thermals are so important and the bang for the buck is just hard to match. The only big let down are the speakers, if they just were “middle of the pack” it would have been a 10/10.

I only play rts games so I don’t really need to take full advantage of the gpu and am willing to sacrifice some performance for a quieter machine.

      I've enjoyed the laptop for video editing! If you're a PC user and prefer that ecosystem, I think this is a great choice. But, if we're talking about ONLY video editing (e.g. no gaming), then I personally prefer macbooks for video editing. The Apple Silicon chips are pretty great these days, even the base macbook air models you can get around $1k these days. That being said, if you want to game or prefer windows in general, I'd recommend this one :).

    I'm not really sure why you keep comparing it to a Macbook when a Macbook with the same specs would be $2500 or more, easily. The trackpad works very well, in my opinion and many other review videos. It may not be on the level of a Macbook, but it works very well. I actually find it to be better than the g14's glass trackpad. The speakers are also perfectly fine, especially with Nahimic settings adjusted.
    I personally love mine. I sprang for the 32gb model direct from Lenovo, and after coupons and discounts it was net $1090 + tax USD. Couldn't be happier and agree that OLED is the way going forward.

    I bought a G14 last year, and loved the size, speed, etc., but it just turned into a blast furnace when gaming. My fingers literally found the metal keyboard deck between the keys uncomfortably hot, and the fan sounded like a hairdryer. So I returned it. But my Legion Slim 14 will be arriving in the next couple of days, and I'm thinking this will finally be the 14" laptop that does it all for me. Thanks for this comparison, which (hopefully) confirms my decision to go with the Legion!

      I think you made the right choice. I haven't regretted the switch at all, and have loved how cool it stays while gaming. You're also gonna love the display in comparison

      I have the slim 5 14 too and I think it is a great laptop. But I wouldn’t say that the fans are not loud when I play games, they can get pretty loud but that’s expected from a gaming laptop

      I have now had the Legion Slim 14 now for a couple of weeks, and I can honestly say that it is better in my opinion than the Asus, for a variety of reasons. Lenovo's cooling system venting the vast majority of heat out the back is way better than Asus's cooling upwards and onto the screen. Lenovo's port placement is far superior, putting the power connector on the back, instead of on the side. I do really love the glossy 14.5" 2880x1800 OLED screen. Sure, you have to angle the screen a bit more than with a matte screen to avoid glare, but that's a very small price to pay to get such incredible colour and image quality, and inky blacks. I personally don't see the PWM flicker that supposedly exists with this display, even when I dim the screen a lot, and I'm one of those 'picky' people, who can't unsee a dead pixel, etc. And yes, it runs cooler and the quiet mode really is quiet, yet fast enough to game with. I do normally use the 'balanced' power mode for gaming, however, as, despite the louder fan noise than quiet, it is still acceptable to me compared with the Asus. My temps in 'balanced' mode for both the CPU and GPU never get above 70-75 degrees, which is awesome!

      @@Moshe_Dayan44I like the display also, oled is great. What do you think however about the g14 from 2024 ? I think the design is very cool and it also has oled screen now

      @@LyricsSongHD I haven't tried the 2024 Asus G14, as I've already got the Lenovo now. I'd be curious to know if Asus has fixed the bad port placement (eg. power connection on the side), the ludicrously loud fans, even on 'balanced' mode, and the ridiculously hot metal keyboard deck that acts as a heat conductor so your fingers get singed. Honestly, I think some people are a little dense when they have complained that the Lenovo uses a plastic keyboard deck: of course you want the keyboard deck to be made of some kind of heat insulator, or it will conduct heat and get hot.

    Im thinking about picking up the Slim 5 14”. A local store has a model with the R9, 4060, 1TB and 16gb for 1999€, which is the same price as on the lenovo store in EU… but with interest free payments. Ideally id like to order it from lenovo with 32gb and the R7 for around 1800€, but i really dont want to drop that much cash in one lump sum if i can pay it off in 3 years and invest the money instead. Im just struggling with the decision between the 16gb and 32gb… any advice from anyone on whether the 32gb is really going to make a difference in a few years or even today? id like to future proof it but then again i could just sell it and buy a new version in 3-4 years.
