If you are balling on a budget, we recommend trying out CapCut. From the little experience that I’ve used with Capcut, it's fairly intuitive for free software on a mobile device.

Go to search bar -> search "folder options" -> view -> uncheck "hide extention from known file types" -> apply
Now go to your file and remove the .xml and type in ".prpfset" so that the ".prpfset" remains as an extension

Hey Saturn's Ring, Instead of doing word-by-word we can still use captions! Transcribe the layer, add captions to the timeline, select all of them and change the settings of them accordingly and then create a new adjustment layer, throw it into the timeline, and nest it with your captions! You can now split down every moment when there is a new caption/text in the video, and now you have it. You can add effects to it! and it is way easier than writing it word-by-word.

There's a really cool hack I use to be able to add effects to the auto transcribe track, it's to create an adjustment layer under the caption and then nest them together, and voilà! You add any effect you want!
