I appreciated the update. I recently got one of these and will be taking it to Tokyo and Seoul next week. As for this style of video, I think it's great for what you are doing. I don't need the B roll, I don't need the samples or the jump cuts for this kind of follow up to previous videos. Also, I like these better than the livestreams I see on other channels. The conversational tone is perfect. Thanks.

I'm absolutely a fan of the Pocket 3 and it's because of this camera I found your great channel. Agree that although it has its limitations, as every piece of gear has, the Pocket 3 is great. One just has to be aware of it and to not expect the impossible: yes, it can't take a close picture of the Andromeda galaxy. As for the style of your video, I liked it. You give valuable information and-for me-there is no need of B-roll or music that, in this case, would unnecessary distract the viewers from the information. Have a nice weekend. Philip.

This camera is cool! I used it for my last two videos and for a musician, its perfect! You can clip it to your stand, a table, set it on the floor, and its a narrow little camera that doesn't draw too much attention to itself. You can move the camera remotely using your iphone, and frame your shot. Just need to learn how to export those 10bit videos to look good on youtube...

I think it's absolutely worth it. I've had the original Osmo Pocket and it's amazing how much has changed especially with video quality/options. Also, it's nicer to use this than my iPhone for quick social media content.

Great feedback on your usage. I got the Sony zv1 because of your recommendations, but shooting the interiors of abandoned houses was hard work on that camera. Panning is impossible on the stabilizer setting, take it off and it's a bumpy ride. So a comparison of what vlogging cameras can pan would be great.

Great video as always, I really like watching them. Do more videos like this in the same format. My question for you is simple but complex...sell the ZV-1 to get the Pocket 3 or stick with the ZV-1. I use product showcase on the Sony and shoot some photos for thumbnails or computer backgrounds. But mainly I use the ZV-1 for tripod-mounted 4k video shoots with the DJI mic attached. My issue with that camera is the stabilization when I take the camera on the move (walking and shooting). I look forward to hearing back from you on this and would love so see a CZcams short on the ZV-1 Product showcase vs the Pocket Quick Focus or what ever they call it. PS~ Did you try the tweezer yet to get out an SD Micro card yet? Cheers from across the pond.
Cheers. Hhhhmmmm. Great question. To be honest the ZV-1 is superb but it’s starting to show its age now. However that’s not to say it’s time to get rid of it. The product showcase mode (same name in the OP3) is great. But the main advantage it has is the stabilisation and its size.
Still haven’t used the tweezer lol

I need to spend more time editing my footage here on my Montreal trip Vic. But the biggie I’ve found that once you invest some time and learn the quirks it’s pretty cool. I’d like to see better heat control and like you said…definitely can be a tad delicate. I was using it in webcam mode and knocked it over last week. I just started breathing correctly.

The one feature I don't see anyone speak about is the ability to use this camera at a a distance as if it was a PTZ camera! I film local theatre productions and always have to be far away in the dark to shoot. This allow me to hide the camera and pan and tilt or track. Plus shooting at 2.7k gives so much clarity without using the bloated 4k files. If they ever add optical zoom to these, I'll buy 3 more!!

best camera of year 23 with Nikon ZF. I took this with my recent travel through central asia and it was work just great. and if some people mention about fragility you should know about this. you cant just use gimbal in any situation. Cause if you gonna choose to seperate gimbal option its way more huge and that mean way much more vulnerable to impacts and easy to get impact.
Love the candid commentary about the Pocket 3. Regarding the conversational tone of the video, I vote for both. I watched this video because I first watched your "highlights" reel video, which was good, but was also expected. As a viewer, consumer, and career tech guy, I am looking for "real-world insights" before purchasing. The challenge, as you know well, is holding the viewer's attention long enough to convey the insights without coming across too eager for them to buy. I enjoyed this video because it felt like the parade had gone by and now we could just sit down and talk about what we had just seen. Thanks for doing both.
Respect for the video. I just purchased one but wont get it until January. You said the pocket2 leveled up your work back when you got it and thats how i feel about this for me.

Thanks for making a quality comparison to the ZV1, which is my main camera. This helped seal the deal for my second camera, because in many countries I travel you can't whip your camera out as an iphone is #1 on a thief's wish list.

I originally ordered just the Pocket 3, but then switched to the 'Creator Combo' after I saw that it would be kind of a pain to somehow hookup my Rode Go 2 wireless mic, whereas the Pocket 3 creator kit has the transmitter built in for their included mic, and also for the wide angle lens, plus one or two of the other accessories as well. I'll have to check out your video for ND filters for the Pocket 3. Thanks!
Obviously, the P3 is a great versatile cam. But there are obvious drawbacks to it too. Many of these are insurmountable because of the pocket concept, but let's look unbiased. No optical zoom! For me, this IS the elephant in the room when comparing to my iPhone 15 Pro Max. No tilting screen for those low or high angled shots. This can be mitigated by using a phone as a remote screen, however. Fragility and water sensitivity. I put these in the same category and simply say "use it for what it is"! So IMHO the SFF shooter has 3 primary choices: 1) P3 or 2) Insta360 Ace Pro or 3) iPhone 15 Pro Max with an Insta360 Flow gimbal. It is a tough choice as they all have different strengths and weaknesses. Maybe, just get all three! LOL. Merry Christmas guys!

Vic great video on this but there was way too many commercials interrupting the video. Not sure why that is.
14:34 some pictures arrive but throughout the video you had an extra layer visible when you moved your right hand to your bottom right corner (bottom left for me watching).
For the content of this video, this conversational style that presents the important information is ideal. It's not an initial "look at this new camera" review. It's a follow-up that's passing on real experience and thoughts after a little time with the unit. That's the information we need to hear without the distractions. I love seeing actual video from a camera and some nice B-Roll. When it's appropriate and I'm trying to get an initial feel for the camera. When I want straight information about how it's holding up and how a little time with it has confirmed or changed the presenter's thoughts on it. I want the conversation. I did see your video on talking to the camera. Yep, you definitely have that one down. A lot of creators would benefit from watching that one.

I have used pocket 1&2 they were good, the pocket 3 is definitely a big upgrade.
The only issue I have with the pocket 3 is, it doesn’t support pause in recording mode.
Pocket 2 had this feature and I have no idea why DJI would not have it on pocket 3.
Doesn’t make sense to have a very important feature on a previous model and omit it on the latest!! Apart from that it’s an amazing camera.
Hopefully DJI will address this downgrade and bring it back in a firmware update.

I’m sure that’s a firmware update if it’s possible. Gotta say I’m curious as to why you need a pause option while recording? Why not just take different clips and then edit together?
@@VicBarry for me, it's nice to not have to stitch all the videos in post (one less thing) but not sure why OP wants the pause feature.
@@VicBarry The reason for me is that I don’t have to do post editing as if I’m shooting some scenes and want it to be one file I would like to have that option. That was one of the features I found very useful in the pocket 2.

I have been running around taking videos of my kids using an a7c + DJI RSC2 looking a bit over the top and now got me this camera as well. The a7c has better image quality primarily due to better lenses used but if this OP3 would have been available before I probably wouldn’t have gotten the RSC2 and just stuck to photo with my fullframe.

@@VicBarry have you tried it? The way it takes the pictures and to view them. Well atleast for me when i viewed it on my computer it looked like a small video and the picture was weird. Maybe i didnt do it right but maybe you can give it a shot and show us how to use it and view it properly
Since this is the only small device capable of shooting videos both daylight and low light without a sensor crop and EIS since gimbal, it's definitely a better pocket video camera. The low light is it's strongest suit and far better than any action cameras can do. Definitely a great pocket camera.
I wish someone would make a 35mm (full frame equivalent) attachment for the Pocket 3 and then it would be good enough for me. I don't like the look of it's wide and wider options.
It's a great device, but I think it's cheeky to permanently install the battery here. For me, this is a disadvantage that should definitely have been included in your conclusion. Because what do you do if the internal battery is defective? And that will happen at some point. Will the device then only work with the plug-in battery? If so, the runtime will be significantly shorter. Not good! With the Osmo Action 3 + 4 (both of which I own and with which I am very satisfied) it works differently, for me at least a NOGO in terms of Osmo Pocket 3! Hey Rolf, yeah. It’s a fair point although to be honest the last pocket I owned was the original and had zero issues with it. The same argument can be made for most phones I guess.
Certainly the Pocket 2 battery was replaceable by DJI surprisingly cheaply.

@@VicBarry Something about the form factor and the robotic nature of the gimbal movements. But then theres the absolute ease of use and the unexpected high quality that comes from it. Insta360 footage simply can't compare

This was good we hear the real story of this camera I have the pocket one and I take it with me everyware been waiting to see if any issues are popping up with pocket 3 I jumped to buy Gopro 12 and did not really pan out as good as they marketed.

Personally I love this kind of straight forward, shooting from the hip style. I've been a stills snapper for half a century with a smattering of videos but would like to do a bit more. Two things that make me concerned; when the weather goes belly-up you can't use it and it's fragile nature, I don't and never have collected 'gear' as I haven't the funds so getting another one if this goes to the great camera dump in the sky just wouldn't be an option. Anyway, enjoyed the video and have subscribed and will study your other Pocket 3 films.

Hey Peter (appreciate all your film work and really enjoy the theme park vids too) - good suggestion. Having experienced most of those, the pocket 3 is really strong in low light and would have the edge on stabilised footage unless the zv-e1 and so on were on a gimbal.

Love your videos.. but... ha. to each his own, but i disagree with "dont buy the creator combo". And its really 2 things.. the mic and battery handle, which if purchased separately are much greater than the $150 cost difference. I have a DJI Mic for other cameras and realize how important an powerful it is for good audio. the DJI Mic 2 integration built into the P3 is a game changer for great audio, especially windy outdoor shots. Secondly I have Pocket 1 and as you know the batteries are not removeble. So if all someone has is the camera main battery and they head to disney world for the day, its likely going to die. of course a USB battery pack can recharge, but having the extended battery handle seems like a better match. (full disclosure, mu P3 is in shipping right now)
