I have 12gb of Ram with 512 gb of storage on my Nothing phone 2, and I'm incredibly satisfied with it , smooth, snappy, fast and also the quickest among the majority of the market's cellphones out there. Despite all of that , their discord channel is a game changer in the current market, they hear feedback, and work on them accordingly 👍💯.

@@EmmieSuksaiwhat are you trying to say? if you are saying that the nothing phone is chinese, you'd be surprised to know every other iPhone, OnePlus, realme, oppo, vivo, xiaomi etc you've used, they are manufactured there. Apple has build some plants in India and that is the case with Nothing Phone too... Although most of the phones are still chinese, there is nothing wrong with them being chinese but now Apple and Nothing have taken some initiatives and now are manufactured in Indian although most of them are still imported because they can't meet the demand yet. Get proper knowledge please, and the phone is absolutely fantastic and even better than the OnePlus 11. I would take the Nothing any day and I have. The phone beats every other phone especially in terms of OS smoothness. please shut up and take your bs elsewhere

I've been using the Nothing Phone 1 for almost a year now and it's still seamlessly smooth as it was when I first bought it, unlike other Androids which start lagging around this time. I love the Nothing team for constantly updating the software and always listening to the community and being transparent.

I think perhaps you had cheaper android before? I also used to buy cheap ones and had lag, then I got S20 FE and never did. I think the cheap ones... cheap out on memory speed.

Phone 2 is a great buy, Phone 3 will become too expensive as it'll ship with 8Gen 3 soc, but wait anyways for it so that there would be a price cut on Phone 2 due to Phone 3's launch!

The camera is actually great. Its the post processing software that unfortunately isnt there yet. I am sure they will continue improving it.

Imagine if the Nothing Phone had 8 Gen 2 or 8 Gen 3 and UFS 4.0 storage, it would destroy the iPhone, already beats it frequently in loading speed with apps and games with the old 8 Gen 1 and UFS 3.1 and it costs way less, very impressive and puts many Android flagships to shame!

@@thisismyalias Haha don't be mad, I am just praising the Nothing Phone because even with outdated specs it's beating the lastest iPhone with the lastest chip in most most loading scenarios, it's very well optimized unlike many other Android flagships, also the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 already catched up to the iPhone's A17 Pro which is the latest from Apple in terms of phones, the reason the Nothing Phone is doing very well against the newest iPhone is because of the optimization, so next year's iPhone won't do much better unless Apple optimizes more, the chip clearly isn't the reason since the A17 is more powerful than the old 8 Gen 1 in the Nothing Phone 2 and yet the Nothing Phone is doing very well against it which makes it impressive

So when i updated it,it was stuck on “install now”
And I chose the “start over” option on the power button
Was that a safe thing to do?or is it gonna experience some errors in the future

I have a Pixel 8 Pro and even though I'm pleased with the smoothness of it, this Nothing Phone is absolutely bonkers. Kudos for this amazing optimization. Excited to see the features and camera upgrades they incorporate down the line.

Coming from a Pixel 6 Pro, I've now had my Nothing Phone 2 (12gb ram 256gb model) a week and I can say this is the best phone I've had to date, especially having picked it up for £450. 😮
The whole experience, from the almost stock android UI, the monochrome theme, the build quality, absolutely nothing to fault. Unless you're a selfie addict and love your photography, the cameras are more than satisfactory and quality is on par, if not better than the Pixel 6 Pro, not had a proper play around with the phone yet, but from what I've seen from this past week. I've always been a pixel fan and the Google Nexus range prior, simply for the stock android experience. Nothing as a company are definitely a breath of fresh air, and they listen to their customers, the updates prove it! 😊😊😊

its bezzels are thin, its display is great, its cheaper than competitors, its UI is beautiful, the software is lightweight and optimized and the phone is aesthetically pleasing with all the LEDs and stuff. and of course, it's android, much more customization than ios.

@@jakob8940 I can understand before I bought phone 2 I was like same It's too expensive given the specs but yet I went for it but trust me this is the best phone you can get in this price range, the best thing about this phone is not hardware but software, I like clean Stock Android never been a fan of Os which Companies add over stock but Nothing OS is next level it's stock but with some useful add-ons and with the cleanest UI. And It's hardware is awesome too I Have compare it to iPhone 14 pro side by side and phone 2 won in speed of course the camera can be better but future updates will fix it too

FYI, only the first time you open the app is relevant for speed tests. You opened the cam multiple times for example but that doesn't tell us anything because the app should already be resident in memory. All you're measuring at that point is the multitasking interface animations.
Camera app launch is different than other apps because it needs to hand off to the ISP and camera modules. It's still relevant for people who open the camera from ram throughout the day without clearing apps.
I’ve had the iPhone 12 Pro Max for 3 years and I have zero complaints. With that said, the nothing phone UI is so similar to iOS, it might be enough to sway me!
I consider myself a quite pragmatic individual. I think that wanting to buy the best of the best in the phone market is not always rewarding in terms of return of investment. Every single person right in their mind would agree that besides content creators and other people who actually need a strong, performing phone to live and make money out of it, for 90% of users, who are going to be only passive consumers of games and social medias, spending more than 1K on a phone is not a good investment, and it actually makes not much sense, since they won't be able to properly use or appreciate all the premium functions of a flagship product. Hence, why not purchasing a device capable of rivaling (easy) with an iphone pro max model? It's all very subjective of course, but i think that spending the most is not always equal to having the best. Thanks Nick for another well done review of two amazing products!

I'm so glad carl pei (previously the founder of oneplus) started making more phones. I always loved the animations on them and it made it feel snappy and smooth. Only thing keeping me from buying the nothing phone is I'm very picky with the cameras, so if they improve software or do it better on the phone 3, I'm all in.

My question about the Nothing Phone 2 is if it is like Samsung phones in that Samsung phones slow down over time while iPhone's arguably do not (unless Apple is caught doing it), which raises an even bigger question, actually, if you're not told about it would you even know? Any way, it would be interesting to see how the Nothing Phone 2 compares over time.
I own Np1 and Iphone 13 both and arguably despite of much powerful processor, I rarely see any difference in the day to day performance, yeah Nothing needs to improve in their haptics and camera department but honestly as a new startup company, the phone 1 is awesome and its optimization is insane and the best thing is it didn't get slow down, the updates are consistent and I would say it's really much better now(than a year ago) in terms of performance.....
Samsung phones has change a lot and OneUi is well optimized. Nothing OS 2.0 is a really clean interface, really smooth so no worry at all. I own a Nothing Phone and an iPhone 13 Pro : on basic usage : you don't see differences and it's even easir with Nothing Phone because of Android. It's when you do more demanding tasks with Cameras processing and Gaming that iPhone wins.

Hi ive both i think NP² is much better then pixel 8 pro...(not for camera)
The amazing part is that the 12/512 Phone (2) costs a lot less than half(!) of the iPhone 15 Pro Max here in Sweden (and the 8/256 version is almost a third of the price). The difference in value is mind boggling. If Nothing would release a phone that costs over twice as much as the phone (2), you can bet the cameras would be top notch, amongst other things.
What do I do if my phone turns on when any notifications pop up!? My phones off and when a notification pops up it’s turns my phone on and the Lock Screen appears what can I do to stop it from happening??

Mind you, AOSP based launchers like the mighty Pixel launcher or Nothing OS, while they are one of the smoothest, if not the most smoothest UI on Android, they don't actually have non-linear animations. and the repeatitive openning and closing animation you were doing in the video actually does break the animations on AOSP based launchers, even on the Nothing OS.
The better implementation of those will be available on launchers like Color/Oxygen OS and majority of other Chinese branded skins.
yeah I do know that they have linear animations, it's just that these are smoother than the non-linear ones on most of the Chinese phones...
Nothing Phone is based out of London and their phones are made in India, not China.

Face unlock is a no go on the Nothing. I put a picture of me on a display and pointed the phone at it, and it unlocked instantly. I say they should disable the feature from factory to avoid any false sense of security for an unexperienced user.
Otherwise no complaints on the software side, it is the smoothest phone I've ever used and I've tried every OS out there (even Windows Phone back in the day). Only wish they included a case in the bundle because there's not many options and 25$+shipping for the OEM case is a rip off. They can get rid the cable and the fancy box, just include a damn case.
Considering the fact that its a new phone in the market and is already able to compete with the latest iphone i have some high expectations from Nothing now

Yes, there's sometimes really low micro bugs but i tried also iPhone 15 pro and It's slightly worse on that point.

idk if this is relevant or not but whenever i play carX street on my nothing phone 2 it is basically unplayable even at minimum settings and after half an hour it just crases but my iphone 13 runs it perfectly even at better settings

I have nothing phone 2, happy with it, really fast, but a few things, mails don't show up like they need to, fails to load images and certain text in my mails and camera could be better.

I think comparing app speeds between android and iOS is kinda pointless since apps are optimized differently on different platforms. Better to compare between the slew of android phones.

I believe that you are a professional when it comes to this smartphones stuffs. Androids apps are optimized to run with light weight app opening load time, in other for the none flagship androids to still appear usable, in doing so, the flagship androids with flagship processor even if the processor is a 2019 or 2020 chip, it will definitely take an advantage of the light weight opening time, to run those apps open faster than iPhone, even when the iPhone CPU clocks higher than all the androids. But here is the deal, if the test a none flagship android against the iPhone, they will still open all these apps faster than the iPhone, but even with the flagship, when it still comes to video rendering and high processing stuffs, the iPhone will win, once an app is opened in the background, it is open so that this split seconds will not matter anymore, that is why, if you run all this apps simultaneously, the iPhone will look more smother than the androids
Honestly speed test videos aren't pratical like it's impossible to buy a slow phone in 2023 and even if you uograde from something like a galaxy s8 or s9 you won't notice a huge upgrade in speed you will notice the fluidity because it's a faster refresh but opening and closing is going to be very close, you don't really consider smartphones today because of its speed people aren't going to buy the a nothing phone 2 because it's ever so slightly faster, you gotta explain why nothing phone is a better value like maybe run a gaming test or stuff like that no one cares about opening and closing app speed.

App loading time is primarily affected by storage speed whereas video exporting is mainly CPU intensive
