  • Tube Bumper Build without a bender │ I Build ThingZ
Making a tube bumper without using a pipe bender..
I am building a tube bumper to replace the original ones ..materials are left over from other projects..i chose this design for its simplicity, of course easy and fast to build.

I would be more upset if your tires weren’t muddy. Nice build man

Nicely done. I wanted to buy a tube bender but seeing how you can just cut angles on the pipe it's not really needed

It’s a lot less welding and grinding with a bender!

Gonna be a nice bumper but, the stick welder, makes it so much more work. To bad you didn’t have a bender.

@@ibuildthingz8962 sorry, I know, I inherited my bender, from my father. I started using this bender, in my younger years. I was a industrial electrician, before I was hurt. I still own that bender, it is capable of bending 6’ rigid pipe, (WELL CASING). It’s a Damed powerful bender. I understand it’s far to late for your project. I would bet, there are many benders like mine out there. You have a very nice bumper, i just stated this for those, who are starting to making one. I bent one for a guy, after rigid pipe was bent, he put weld marks on the pipe. When i asked why? He said to give it a industrial look. It did look good. I’m going to build a bumper, for my wrangler. I’m thinking about 4’ Aluminum, Rigid Pipe, then welding the ends, tapping it for a air chuck, and using it as a Air Tank, weld a plate for my winch. Winch plate would most likely will need to be 1/2” thick. It would be allot easier with steel, but 4’ Aluminum is very strong also. I don’t do heavy off road driving, my back wouldn’t take that.

@@michaelblock4397 in our place a tube bender is hard to come by and very expensive if available. best bet are chinese pipe bender but still a bit out of my budget.. i am just planning on making a bender if i can find enough materials in the scrap.. I built that bumper just to replace the original one that was damaged on a minor accident. Parts for this hilux like the bumper is not that available in the philippines, because in here parts shop only focus on newer models..that bumper is only for daily use and not offroading. just for looks, hehe...

@@ibuildthingz8962 sweet dude, now that’s a great idea, building it won’t be cheap either. You sure will learn though. Post it when you do it. There actually is nothing special about my bender, it’s just pretty and heavy duty. There is no reason you can’t do it. We here build many of our own tools. There is no doubt the USA is a very spoiled country, with everything that we can do.

@@michaelblock4397 Yup, the abundance of tools in your conutry is great.. Its a heaven for gear heads.. in the philippines, we have little options..Skills in building things is a great advantage here.. It will save you fontune.. Raw materials are cheaper though but not as standard as in your country.Sub standard materials is a norm here. you have to save your scrap and source most of materials in the scrap yards to save as much...But the knowledge gained is priceless..
