The pope has said that priests can bless same sex relationships but marriage as one man and one woman. This is a slippery slope and a mixed message that allow s the rot of liberalism to creep in. This sinfulness is not restricted to Protestant churches it is in the Catholic Church as well.

@@janetrichardson2644 what the Pope actually said is you can bless the two persons as individuals but you cannot bless the union. He made that very clear. And that has always been Church teaching. But I agree that the way it was delivered was unnecessarily confusing.

@@aconvert1694, sure, but they are alive. People who are dead cannot hear our prayers anymore, much less hear the prayers of millions of people in different languages. Only God has that power.

@@aconvert1694, the Bible says that from that moment John took Mary into his home. That’s all it means. John took care of Mary after Jesus died. Joseph must have died before this time; the Bible doesn’t record it.
Don’t expand that request, “take care of my Mom,” to mean that Mary was given the powers of God to hear and understand the prayers of millions of people in different languages after her death and all the rest of the stuff that Is attributed to her in Roman Catholicism.

@@jnkelley42 Bishop Stowe might be fired soon by the Pope. This is definitely an outlier. In any human organization, there are those who fail to live up to their professed values. Look at the Apostles and Judas, who was selected by Christ himself. Also what this Bishop did is in contravention with Church teaching and his actions as a single Bishop can't change Church teaching. From the quick reading I did, all the other Catholic Bishops are against this and want him removed but the Holy See.
Did you see the news about the San Francisco Bishop preventing Nancy Pelosi taking Communion due to her continued support for abortion in contradiction to Catholic Church teaching which must be affirmed by the faithful in communion with the Church ? We do have some good and courageous Bishops in the Catholic Church.
He's way out of line with the other Bishops and will probably be fired soon by the Holy See. There's always bad apples with the good. See Judas and the 12 Apostles.
