  • Walkthrough of my custom Jeep JK rear storage drawer. I made this drawer specific for my needs, as what I wanted was not available commercially. Apologies for the road noise.

    You mentioned that with a soft top on, your box is protected because you lock the tailgate and no one can access your drawer; but then you add a piano hinge for top access. So much for protecting your items in the box! If i were you I’d install a cam lock on you upper access. 😎👍

      C D Yes, I designed the box with a lock in mind for the lid.

    Nice setup. What's the measurements of the frame and drawers to build?

    How does the drawer face open without the shelf folding out while pulling? Very cool design/idea!

      It has strong magnets on each side. I’m not sure if they were installed at the time of this video.

    Nice drawer system. you seem to have made work around for a lot of the issues with mass produced storage systems. Have you kept the system or modify it since you made it

      It’s stayed the same. I did permanently affix it using the existing tie down bolts and perforated metal strap. Extra safety in the event of a rollover.
      Looking back, the drop down tailgate style table was unnecessary. I never use it, and it just added additional cost and weight.

      None. It’s been through several seasons and doing just fine.

    what were your base dimensions? I really want to build a raised platform like that, but having a hard time finding the dimensions of the back of the Jeep.

    If you make the the lid a bit longer, the door lip would not let the piano hinge open

    The little compartment, let’s be honest, it’s where you put your weed.

    So the whole platform is mounted to floor with just that center mount on the bottom?

    • @JohnTheRipper
      @JohnTheRipper Před 3 lety +1

      No. The center support and adjustable foot is only to prevent bowing of the deck. The deck is secured to the existing threaded holes in the body at each corner. These holes were originally for the OEM cargo tie-downs.

    Do you have the measurements for the bottom panel

    • @georgiagrind935
      @georgiagrind935  Před 2 lety

      It’s not a perfect square because of the rear door. But approximately 24.5”x36”. Lots of hand fitting to get it to work with all the curves…

    How did you attach the unit into the cargo area?

    • @georgiagrind935
      @georgiagrind935  Před 4 lety

      Micah Johns I used the existing threaded holes in the back of the unit (originally factory tie down points) to bolt down some angle brackets. In the front I used angle brackets and sheet metal screws into the body itself.

    What are the dimensions of your box?

    • @georgiagrind935
      @georgiagrind935  Před 4 lety

      Andre Johnson the interior drawer dimensions are 22-3/4” x 20-1/2” and 10” deep. The whole box with rear subwoofer space is 27-1/2” x 31-1/8”.
