Freddie was a stabilizing force for John who was the shy type and had a bit of a stage fright (I relateee), I can't imagine how hard it must've been for him to keep the show going on despite Freddie's remarkable absence, the difference is tangible without him on stage and yet John's performance was outstanding, what a great friend and bassist.

That broke John Deacon when Freddie died. Freddie was like the big brother that shielded the younger brother from all the bad things. When the camera was on John, Freddie was usually there in the picture. Freddie took the heat away from John. Then when Freddie died, it really left a big empty hole for John to the point where he left the public life in 1997. John Deacon would give up anything except for his wife, kids, and grandkids to see Freddie again.

John Deacon introducing Metallica. Does it get any better than that?

I understand why John wanted to quit after Freddie`s death. But i also can understand why Roger and Brian wanted to continue touring and playing all the legendary songs. The new frontman Adam Lambert can never replace Freddie and i like that he knows that. He actually said it himself at one of the concerts. Keep enjoying your retirement John. You deserved it after what you went through after Freddie`s death. You took it very hard.

John is the only true Queen member. He refused to go on without Freddie. John is a legend and after Freddie the greatest Queen member!!

      Everyone grieves differently.
Brian and Roger find performing the songs as healing.
      Brian almost killed himself after
      Freddie’s death,
but he found the strength to continue.

After Freddie died, all 3 group members got immediate depression. Brian and John Deacon had it worst. John Deacon left the band because to him no one can replace Freddie and he’s 100% right. Respect his wishes and demands of not wanting public media please.

      Right.
Brian almost killed himself because he was also dealing with his father’s death,
his divorce from his first wife,
and his failures as a father.
