EU Pressure on Turkey to Avoid BRICS: What is going on?

  • The European Union (EU) is accelerating efforts to enhance its relations with Turkey, with a focus on strengthening trade ties in 2024. This comes despite Turkey's growing interest in BRICS a group it views as a strategic alternative due to frustration over stagnant progress with Brussels.
Why does Turkey want to join BRICS?
Economically, BRICS membership could open new markets for Turkish products and services. The bloc represents around 40% of the world's population and a significant portion of global GDP, offering vast opportunities for trade expansion. Additionally, Turkey could benefit from increased investment flows and technology transfers from BRICS countries, particularly China and Russia. These partnerships could bolster Turkey's technological capabilities and infrastructure development, which are crucial for its economic growth. Moreover, BRICS is working towards reducing reliance on the US dollar by promoting local currency transactions and creating a new reserve currency. This aligns with Turkey's interest in enhancing its financial stability and reducing vulnerability to currency fluctuations.
Geopolitically, by joining BRICS, Turkey aims to balance its relations with Western countries and enhance its influence in a multipolar world order. This move is seen as a way to strengthen Turkey's geopolitical standing without abandoning its ties with NATO and the EU. Furthermore, Turkey seeks to play a more active role in global governance by aligning with BRICS, which advocates for a more equitable international system. This stance resonates with Turkey's criticism of the current Western-dominated global order and its desire for more inclusive decision-making processes at the international level
Simultaneously, the EU has intensified efforts to attract Turkey by pushing to revive and modernize the customs union. The goal is to expand cooperation in services, public procurement, and sustainable development. This initiative also aims to address trade irritants and improve migration management, which is a key component of the 2016 EU-Turkey statement.
Despite these efforts, Turkey has shown interest in joining BRICS, seeking to diversify its economic relations and strengthen ties with non-Western powers. This interest aligns with Turkey's broader foreign policy goals of expanding its influence and economic partnerships beyond traditional Western alliances.

EU accepts anyone in as long as they would not be able to change the current power dynamics in EU.
They don't require other countries to meet most of the criteria that are actually required to join EU.
The reason Turkey will never be let in is simply a balance of power dynamics.
Although it is true that press freedom is in shambles in Turkey, the same is true in the EU.

After all this blah blah, let me give a brief, realistic translation of this video:
1- EU will never accept Turkiye due to its extreme potential to become a superpower if she gets any kind of support from Europe. Right now Turkiye already is on her way, they are just trying to slow it down.
2- Turkiye is Muslim and EU is Christian. They don't want a Muslim country (from the other team) to gain a number of seats in European parliament due to its population
3- EU had suffered nearly a millennium because of Seljuk and Ottoman Empire's crushing power. They don't like Turks
4- Turkiye reminds them their crimes in Africa, continent of America and Asia. They hate hearing the truth
5- it has nothing to do with democracy. We've recently seen how Europe's democracy and human rights lack during current Palestinian suffering.

Turkish citizens face humiliation and agony when they apply for a Schengen Visa. So, what kind of partnership is this. It is in Turkey's best interest to diversify itself. The EU kept stringing Turkey along over EU membership and now that BRICS is becoming the dominant economic organization in the world and has courted Turkey, suddenly the EU is interested in them. The EU is like a girl that friendzoned a guy who is now getting attention from another girl and NOW she realizes that she might lose him.
The west has screwed itself. It played favorites in G7, EU, and IMF, treating developing nations like colonies, exploiting them, and using their economic or military power to force adherence to what was best for the west. Then they pushed on the Russians through offering NATO membership to Ukraine and when the Russians decided that they didn’t want NATO forces and missiles right on their border (a bit hypocritical since the US got its panties in such a wad over the Cuban Missile Crisis), the west overthrew the legitimate government of Ukraine, installed a puppet regime, and then began arming and training Ukraine to be a thorn in Russia’s side.
Most of the eastern part of Ukraine including Crimea is traditionally Russian territory that was “gifted” to Ukraine by Soviet Premier Nikita Kruschev (a native Ukrainian) in the 1960s. The people of those territories are ethnically Russian and after the dissolution of the USSR, the Ukrainian government began to implement a campaign of ever-increasingly hostile actions trying to intimidate the natives into leaving so that Ukrainians could take over their lands. When it turned into a more violent conflict, Russia grabbed its traditional Black Sea military assets and ports in Crimea to ensure it retained its only warm-water naval presence. Most of the territory east of the Dnieper River is ethnically Russian and Putin was pressured by his constituents to protect the people in those areas living under attacks from Ukrainian nationalists.
The west showed no concern for the attempted ethnic cleansing in Ukraine. They only wanted to gain control of the fertile agricultural land and basically lock out Russia from the Black Sea for geopolitical and military strategy reasons. When Russia took action to protect ethnic Russians, the west increased military aid to Ukraine and hit the Russians with economic sanctions like it does to everyone else that doesn’t submit to its will. Then it destroyed the natural gas supply conduit from Russia to Europe believing that would add to the Russian’s woes.
Russia just made changes to its economic plans and resource management to counter the sanctions. It found new consumers for its energy resources, and began working with other nations that had been disrespected, exploited, and abused by the western economic hegemony to create an alternative organization BRICS. It has been consistently adding new members, negotiating deals with other nations, and creating alliances with some of the “black sheep” of the world.
Russia’s economy is growing while the west’s is receding. It is increasing its stockpile of weapons and is creating weapons technology superior to that of the west while rapidly developing a much larger and more experienced army. Meanwhile, the west has depleted its stocks of weapons, is hectically trying to increase its military production and seeking to increase the size of its militaries.
We are seeing a lot of deficiencies in the weapons systems that we assumed were the best in the world but had only seen action in conflicts against overwhelmingly outclassed armies and militant groups. The development of hypersonic weapons and remotely-controlled military drones has forced Russia to update its tactics and methodologies and we are far behind and the bureaucratic bloat of the west is hindering efforts to catch up.
Ukraine is finished and the west has sunk with it. Russia not only has a huge military advantage but has made partnerships, alliances, and systems of commerce that is causing many nations once affiliated with the west to turn away. We underestimated the Russians like western nations always seem to do and we have done irreparable harm to our position in the world. The petrodollar is endangered as the world standard currency because we have deflated its relative value by rapidly increasing the number of dollars in circulation. If a critical mass of the world economy returns to a gold standard, we will instantly see our share of the global wealth go down the drain.
The west is so desperate to not lose standing in the world that NATO seems to be purposely instigating a global war which would almost certainly go nuclear and destroy everything. The globalist scumbags in the west have brought this upon us, not the Russians. They were just protecting themselves while NATO was the antagonist.
We’re seeing the fall of some of the globalist regimes in the west. France may very well self-destruct in the near future. The UK is hanging on tightly to the US coattails as they both sink. Poland has decided to just get it over with by signing a bi-lateral deal outside of the purview of NATO so that they’ll be the first to be smacked down. Germany is dying under the weight of energy deficits and over-migration.
I guess the west will decide that if they can’t be the top dog, then they’ll just burn down the kennel.

0:35 Strengthen Turkey's infrastructure development and technology transfer from Russia and China ?
1-) Turkey has built most of the buildings or skyscrapers in Russia, Moscow and St. Petersburg, especially after 1991 after the withdrawal of the Soviet army from Germany. In Sochi they built the sports stadiums and other facilities, then in the former Soviet republics in Astana, Alma Ata, Ashkabat, Bukhara, Tashkent, Bishkek, Baku etc. then in Persian Gulf states they realized large projects, in Erbil they built the international airport.
In Africa they have also been involved in large infrastructure projects, I could list more but that's enough.
2-) Russia does not have a big industry except for defense and missile industry, Turkey exports machines, machinery and other equipment to Russia and Germany. Turkey has a strong defense industry, last year they exported just over $5 billion, this year it is expected to be $7 billion.
It seems that with this video they want to contribute to moving Turkey away from the EU and closer to the East.
3-) The Cyprus dillema, according to EU statutes, Cyprus should not have been admitted to the EU. Because this island has political complications and other political problems ... these are the EU clauses. Moreover, the Greek Cypriot part of the island has rejected the UN peace plan of Koffi Annan and that was a while ago.

This is NOT a remit of the EU. The definition of "European" is the explicit remit of the Council of Europe. (Cyprus is NOT "in Europe" at all - it is West Asian! France ensures that the EU has land borders - quite long ones too - with BRAZIL and Suriname!) Funnily enough, while right wing nationalists scream about ejecting Turkey from NATO and cancelling its EU membership candidacy recognition as invalid, no-one, not even corrupt vanities such as Nicky de Nagy-Bocsa, or faux aristocrat, Valery Giscard "from the pond" have ever publically advocated for Turkey to be ejected from the Council of Europe (presumably for being non-European, like Cyprus and Guiane francaise, amongst other non-European colonial components of the EU Empire). I wonder why not! They have never explained. (My interpretation is that they're not intellectually capable of doing so coherently).

When you ask to join a private club, any club or organization, there are prerequisites you have to meet, and you have to sign an agreement that you will abide by the club's rules & regulations. Turkey has not met the prerequisites and is apparently not trusted by the majority of the EU members to follow EU's rules once it has joined. They don't just let anyone into their club, especially when they have not met the prerequisites, and are not fully democratic states with all the freedoms of the western countries. Its plain & simple. You can keep blaming everyone else but Turkey for the things the Turkish government has done and continues to do to lose the confidence of the EU community, but it's pointless. Joining BRICS will not hurt the US dollar or the western economy. That's a fantasy the leading/founding BRICS members are selling to get others to join, but in all sincerity good luck with that.

What has been going on since 2019 is the biological war, the Corona virus, the Ukraine war, the Gaza war, the Red Sea, and many events. History bears witness to the trade that made these wars. What is intended by European countries is to help Turkey. What is meant is to dominate Turkey through debts. Because they know very well that Turkey will be an important outlet for gas, oil and minerals. For this reason, Iraq has established train railways from the city of Basra to Turkey in agreement with China and other countries. Turkeys actions in Syria as a reason for the eurofighter jet? Turkey took 4 Million refugees after signing a contract with the EU, but the EU did not uphold their part of the agreement. Turkey spent 100 billion for refugees without the agreed help from EU. So from a contract point of view Turkey has every right to cancel it and open the gates to europe for them. But when that was mentioned they sold to the public as if it is a simple threat of Turkey to europe without mentioning to the people that EU did NOT uphold their part of the contract on refugee topic.
for years Turkey is the only nation that actively shows effort in syria to secure a 60 km deep save corridor along its border, for one due to terrorist organization (which are not recognized as such from most EU countries) and the other most significant reason is to ensure a save area so people can go back to syria without the fear of the regime there. But the western media presents all those things as is turkey is the aggressor.
Why is the US there? they have no border with Syria, but wait there is oil, it is so obvious
Why does the EU have anything to say for that region, they don't have any border with them, the only country that keeps europe safe is Turkey.
Germany has a massive problem with uncontrolled illegal migration......imagine the gates will be opened....where do you think will the so called refugees aim to go to, most of them throw there passports away and still can get into germany....as a consequence.....those so called refugees live a better life than many actual german hard working citizen.....simply because the social system benefits them and the know it since germany is even advertising that....germany has nowhere near the necessary amount of money to carry that but the current left wing-green government allows it anyway.....

Turkey should prioritize expediting its membership process with the BRICS. Despite Turkey's efforts, the EU has consistently opposed its inclusion in the bloc. The EU has displayed a clear bias by accepting other nations with lower GDP and less development while sending a message that a Muslim-majority country like Turkey is not welcomed in the EU. The EU has used democratic values as a pretext to reject Turkey's membership, revealing a glaring double standard and hypocrisy in the West's approach to human rights and democracy. Instances such as the situation in Gaza, the genocide in Palestine, and the conflict in Ukraine underscore how these values are selectively applied to serve the interests of Western powers.
