- This receiver is more than likely rated at 12 watts per channel. It is a very down to earth basic receiver. My guess is that it was made in Japan by a company that provided stereo parts to other well know stereo companies. This was provided to a company in North America and re-branded as a Telmar.
wow, the first time I see this model
I picked one up last year. Same model. Cleaned it up, replaced two bad capacitors and sold it. Nice little receiver!
MPX I believe stands for multiplex.
I had an identical one I believe. Same solid wood casing, not plywood. It was engraved Tokai. Searched online for the brand and found that they are making guitars now.
Very nice
I found a 1979 JVC one similar to this in as new condition for $20. I have it hooked up to my PC with 4 decent speakers connected...Let's ROCK!..lol...
Fm mpx is an older term they used for fm stereo. It stands for multiplex.
MPX is an FM noise filter. Something like Dolby FM minus the license fees.
uh, no. multiplex is simply the format for broadcasting (and decoding) fm stereo.
multiplex is just another word for stereo
Seen similar ones in Canada but they were labeled "Martel" not Telmar.
Yeah I live in Québec Canada and I've seen this. You just remembered me about these "martel" receiver.
@@SurnaturalM Google images shows one for sale on E-bay. We had one in a stereo shop I worked at that someone had brought in for repair. This particular Martel was a tube unit. That was way back in 1974.
