The song ("Fastidious horses") is a tragic-philosophical song, one of Vysotsky's most intimate songs, dedicated to the eternal problems of being:
The hero of the song drives horses along a cliff over an abyss through wind and fog. He feels that the end is near, but this causes him 'catastrophic joy'. The hero asks the horses not to obey the whip and gallop 'a little slower' - he dreams of stopping on the edge for a moment to water the horses, he had no time to live and cannot even finish his song.
Although the song describes a quick jump, it was written at a leisurely pace. Vysotsky based the song on old Russian melodies with gypsy folklore.

Vladimir Semjonovich Vysotsky (1938-1980) was a Russian poet, actor and singer.
Vysotsky was an extremely inconvenient poet and singer for the state. In his songs he sang about topics that officially did not exist in the Soviet Union: prostitution, crime, anti-Semitism. He is still known today in Russia, where he is considered the greatest songwriter of the 20th century.
Vysotsky's funeral took place during the Moscow Olympics. The Soviet media did not mention his death. But the news spread like wildfire, and the funeral turned into the largest non-state demonstration Moscow had ever seen.
In 1987 he was posthumously awarded the State Prize of the USSR. In a 2018 survey of the most important personalities in Russia of the 20th century, Vysotsky came in second behind Yuri Gagarin. The asteroid of the outer main belt (2374, Vladvysotskij) was named after him. (Wiki)

Cela date de 3 ans mais étrangement je comprends les paroles bien plus profondes que ce que j'ai déjà lu ici et là.
L'homme est entrain de mourir, le fouet et les chevaux symbolises le temps qui avance et qu'on ne peu retenir, le coeur qui bat droit vers sa mort.
La chanson qu'il veut finir même un peu, c'est sa vie. Il ne veut pas mourir maintenant il espère encore un peu de temps (faire boire les chevaux pour avoir du temps).
Pourtant il se sait foutu (premier couplet).
C'est le chant d'un homme qui meurt alors qu'il veut vivre même encore un peu.
Avec l'age, les paroles prennent une puissance qui transperce car on finit par comprendre que le temps passe trop vite mais qu'il est trop tard et qu'on aura pas de surplus. Cela est pire si vous avez déjà accompagner quelqu'un qui ne veut pas mourir.
Diana vie cette chanson comme si elle avait l'age de comprendre ce sentiment, comme si elle avait déjà du accompagner pour un dernier voyage.
Ses professeurs lui ont dit qu'elle ne serait pas capable de la chanter, qu'il fallait être mâture pour cela. Il l'a pensait trop jeune pour transmettre ce sentiment très spécial qu'on ne souhaiterais jamais resentir.
Et pourtant... elle le fait.
Cela reste mon interprétation, en aucun cas une vérité. J'espère ne pas avoir choquer.

A sleigh is a trailer for horses during the winter season. In summer, such a trailer can be a cart. People died all year round, this is quite obvious. To put the story short,the author has been rushing through his life no matter the ramifications. He feels he is on the verge of breakdown and is begging himself to slow down. This is beautiful!
The translation of the title has a few versions, I suspect because there's no direct translation of the meaning, but it can be "Finicky Horses", "Capricious Horses", "Flighty Horses" and so on. But the general meaning is that life is unpredictable and you should make the most of it while you can. The metaphor is of your life being but a carriage/sleigh ride with unruly horses pulling you along. This is a real rage against the dying of the light kind of deal with someone knowing the end is near and demanding a little more time. Some folks have said no one so young should be attempting such revered and weighty matters, but if anyone's capable then it's Diana. I think she did it proud, but then I'm not Russian, so I could be missing some stuff. Whatever, it's another great release from Diana.

Your reaction is the best! The song is about a person having a rough life that probably is heading towards his death begging his horses ("horses" here are the symbol of life) to slow down to at least let him finish his song.

Cela date de 3 ans mais étrangement je comprends les paroles bien plus profondes que ce que j'ai déjà lu ici et là.
L'homme est entrain de mourir, le fouet et les chevaux symbolises le temps qui avance et qu'on ne peu retenir, le coeur qui bat droit vers sa mort.
La chanson qu'il veut finir même un peu, c'est sa vie. Il ne veut pas mourir maintenant il espère encore un peu de temps (faire boire les chevaux pour avoir du temps).
Pourtant il se sait foutu (premier couplet).
C'est le chant d'un homme qui meurt alors qu'il veut vivre même encore un peu.
Avec l'age, les paroles prennent une puissance qui transperce car on finit par comprendre que le temps passe trop vite mais qu'il est trop tard et qu'on aura pas de surplus. Cela est pire si vous avez déjà accompagnée quelqu'un qui ne veut pas mourir.
Diana vie cette chanson comme si elle avait l'age de comprendre ce sentiment, comme si elle avait déjà du accompagner pour un dernier voyage.
Ses professeurs lui ont dit qu'elle ne serait pas capable de la chanter, qu'il fallait être mâture pour cela. Il l'a pensait trop jeune pour transmettre ce sentiment très spécial qu'on ne souhaiterais jamais resentir.
Et pourtant... elle le fait.
Elle l'a chanté à nouveau et dédiée à une personne qu'elle porte dans son coeur et qui à malheureusement disparue depuis.
Cela reste mon interprétation, en aucun cas une vérité. J'espère ne pas avoir choquer.

The song is about an internal conflict of any creative person who is "trying too hard". On one hand, he/she understands that if he/she will be pushing herself towards perfectness as strongly as she is accustomed to, that will drive her to the grave very soon (hence, "slow down, my horses"). On the other hand, she cannot stop doing that because it's in her nature (hence, "I keep lashig/whipping my horses). Then, one has a heart attack at the age of 42, as it happened to Vysotsky.
This a different interpretation than I have heard but I like it a lot. Others say that it is about delaying death.

So, we always pray the destiny, pray the life circumstances, pray our life (our "horses") not to be in a such hurry, to delay our death at least for a moment. But in other hand we are always hurrying ourselves, even rush, whiping our horses) but at the same time feel the desire to slow down this race, to stop at al, to be silent, to think quiet and to do what we want.
But we can't. Fate is inexorable. As in the song we can't even finish singing the last verse of our own song because there's so little life time left for us. You "can't be late" to your last visit to God (in other words "you can't delay it").
This is mystical prophetic song. Vysotsky predicted his own destiny. He died at his only 42 and hadn't have time to do as much as he wanted, although did a lot in his life.

The story goes as: The 1st verse - "deadly delight" of "living on the edge"; the 2nd verse - recognition of the reality of a possible sudden death; the 3rd verse - the description of a sudden near-death experience and then the relief that this time "the bullet missed." He sang with a raspy kind of voice, often accentuating the volume on the important parts of songs. He had millions of admirers and followers of all ages! Unfortunately, his life ended too early and the whole nation was grieving his departure. To understand Diana's emotions, one need to have listened at least once to Visotsky's himself.
