Still wish I had it but don’t miss the carbs! For anyone thinking about it I would definitely opt for a fuel injected version if I had to do it again. I've done a lot of looking into it, Yamaha's 700 line (MT-07/FZ-07, XSR700, R7) has gained a lot of traction as fantastic starter bikes with a decent amount of putdown so you don't get bored and not too much power to handle, especially in the top end. Will caution against the wheelie-happy nature of the XSR700, but the other three are definitely contenders.

I rode a cbr500r for about 5-6 years and I've always wanted an R6, so I got a 2020 R6. I figured I'd keep the 500 for the comfort and putting around town, and had no reason to sell it. I rode it to a friends house like 2 months later (cuz he's borrowing it) and it seemed so foreign to me and I struggled to find the pegs and felt like the bar positions were really weird. probably gonna sell it. sure, I can't flat foot the R6, and I can't keep my hands on the bars at long lights and it can get uncomfortable some days but damn, 500 feels like a scooter now.

    First bike is a KTM Duke II 640. Love it to bits but it's a bit intense for the kind of riding I do. (usually 100+ miles at once, in a group where the pace is not too high.) Everyone's having a great time and I keep on changing gear to somewhat dampen the vibrations. It's a fantastic bike, but I didn't expect to go on trips this long when I started out.
    Did around 3500 km this season.
    Really trying to figure out what should be my next bike. I did try a Royal Enfield Interceptor, which would theoretically suit my driving style a lot better, but I found it a bit underwhelming. At 6'3" and 230lbs I'm looking for a robust bike that will likely be my last upgrade. Currently I'm weighing between the MT-09, Z900, F900R, Duke 890, and the MT-10. The MT-10 being the outlier, but having all of the juicy options and enough power to grow into and keep me satisfied years down the line. 600 is all perspective from person to person on how it rides in the streets or low end, I'm enjoying both the low and high ends on my zx-6r sure it's annoying waiting for the red light to turn green to rip it, the heat baking up my crotch, and the seating position making me scoot right up the tank to be able to sit up but sure as hell keeps a grin on my face throughout the whole ride

    • @kleinbottled79
      @kleinbottled79 Před 2 lety +1

      I agree about perspective on the powerband of a 600. I really enjoy the Jeckle and Hyde nature of those engines. Really easy to ride them smooth at lower RPM's and so fun to make them scream up top. It's kinda like having infinitely variable power modes depending on where in the rev range you choose to ride. 'Gutless under 10k' is as much a feature as a bug. If you want the guts, be in the right gear.

    • @Stratocasterhead51
      @Stratocasterhead51 Před 2 lety

      @@kleinbottled79 Gutless below 10k is a blatant lie on the 636. Just for a laugh, compare the power dynos for a RS660 and a 636. They are near as makes no difference identical up to about 10k where the RS peaks. The 636 keeps on pulling till about 14k.
      100% agree that having a bike with a "dual personality" is more of a perk than a drawback. So docile and easy at low revs. Sure a MT09 or KTM 890 will pop wheelies with a lot more ease but hey, 636 leaves them for dead in terms of sheer performance.

      @kleinbottled79 Před 2 lety

      @@Stratocasterhead51 Comparing dyno charts can be very telling. I've noticed that trend before. If a bike has a top end rush it makes the mid-range/low-end 'feel' weak in comparison.
