My son found a trove of early 1900’s British coins and tokens in the ashtray of a truck i bought. It also included the same sterling rifle pin you found in this video

12:45 hey John this is a US Army Expert Infantry badge. If it’s sterling than it’s definitely vintage plus it’s missing the blue enamel around the rifle so it’s probably been in the ground for many years! Great Find👍

Came here to say this. The combat infantryman badge has a wreath around it.

I dug 49 wheat cents in one hole before. Dug them out one at a time took about 20 minutes. I also dug about 30 wheats in a 4x4 area at a baseball field also took about 30 min I swore I would find a silver among them but just wheats. Happy Hunting!

I'm typically a solo detectorist - it's peaceful to me. But, I always enjoy going out with the fellow detector guys - it's bonding and entertaining :) Happy hunting to you and the gang!

Expert Infantryman Badge. Combat has a wreath around it. It's probably off a dress uniform being that it's smaller and sterling

John, that sterling silver WWII Combat Infantryman's Badge would have originally been superimpised on top of a wide oval wreath of overlapping oak leaves that formed a 7/8's oval with the opening of the wreath facing up.
In the United States Army, the Combat Infantryman's Badge takes a back seat in importance only to the Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Silver Star, and some might include the Bronze Star Awards. It means that you have seen extended combat duty, not necessarily direct close combat.
The military rumor mill separates the true warriors with direct combat experience fighting the enemy at close quarters, from those who have distinguished themselves to a lesser degree by fighting from a distance, such as artillerymen.
The CIB is a true badge of honor that signifies that one has been there, done that, and in all likelihood has a drawer full of t-shirts to show for their service. Service that they usually never talk about.

You can take a test and get an expert infantryman badge. You have to be engaged in ground combat as an infantryman to earn a Combat Infantryman Badge. Everyone else in the army gets the combat action badge (if engaged in ground combat) Anyway, love the E.I.B!

Hey John I have always hunted with my horseshoe button on because there is a lot of iron on the farm I hunt. Problem is I feel my Nox 7 and 900 false and trick me into digging iron items that ring up in the 40s or 50s. Do you recommend leaving that off? Any help would be appreciated!
