Michael Aspel takes the experts across the Atlantic to Ottawa for a special edition set in the National Gallery of Canada. Among the finds are a bronze figure obtained in exchange for a pound of coffee, a desk which started life as a musical instrument, a pair of 19th-century 'whirlygigs', wooden bird scarers, rescued from a chicken coop and worth £10,000 and, the real star of the show, a 16th-century emerald jewelled cross which could be worth £25,000.

At 14:14 there is a beautiful "ladies Box" from the 1800's! What I want to know is what is in the bottom of the box, under the top tray of sewing accessories & manicure kit? Makers of things back then did NOT waste that much space! Why wasn't it shown? Did the presenter not realize it existed, or is there another reason? Color me curious! Thanks for any info!

I've seen a similar box, and it had embroidery silks in that space. So probably a space like that held fabric, yarn, embroidery thread or something else to sew.

So many know it all would be experts who are hard to shut up, I wonder why they brought their things if they knew it all.

Right? The woman with the watercolor was so damned annoying, interrupting him and talking over him.

They're British, one doesn't show a ton of emotion over money. They're not trained with over the top gameshow reactions. I'm from Boston and we get the British because we're like them.
