“unreliability” is the reason people don’t go with those low cost builds but considering we’re in a time where any part can be fabricated from the best materials i guess it’s possible but will cost your whole life savings
@@pawgs8126 thats why these unpopular engines are great. As long as your not overdoing it most engines will run quiet great and long while also being fun to drive and if it blows up just buy a new one, still 1/10 price of a rb26

Let's be honest, it's an RB20E+T. People who are interested in this aren't going to throw that amount of money at it and want to know the cheaper alternatives, so from someone who's done this before, here goes:
- Valve springs & camshaft: USD$0 (not needed). Stock is actually fine and will rev past 5500 despite what he says
- Oil cooler: USD$0 (not needed). Running an oil cooler on a stock, 40yo oil pump can lower oil pressure as you've increased the capacity of the high pressure oiling system. If oil temps increase beyond 120deg C then fit one
- Radiator: USD$145 or less - new alloy or second hand. Stock are single row & not up to the job. Would suggest a secondhand R32 DET to keep costs down, if they are more common where you are
- Turbo manifold: USD$169 or less - new 30ET or secondhand & modified. You can buy a secondhand DET stainless low mount manifold & change the head flange, which may mean you get it done cheaper than a new 30ET manifold (have made provision for the fabrication below)
- Turbo: USD$300 or less - stock secondhand RB or HKS turbo. If you use a low manifold you can use a secondhand stock RB turbo, which is fine up to 12psi and much more responsive (10psi by 3200rpm). Alternatively the older RB-specific HKS turbos are an option (2530/2535/2540) they have the correct dump pipe flange for a factory-placement exhaust and eliminating a lot of fabrication cost. Also allows to keep internal wastegate, making it still cheaper
- OIl feed & return: USD$75 available from Aliexpress or Kinugawa. Most 20E have the fitting in the block for the oil return too
- Wastegate: USD$0 - not needed if going low mount manifold & internal gate as per above. No boost control issues so no need for an external
- Injectors: USD$100 - secondhand RB20DET injectors fit the factory rail & factory plugs (including professional cleaning)
- Fuel pump: USD$100 or less - Walbro 255lph or a secondhand factory fuel pump from a larger vehicle (I used an FD RX7 for USD$20)
- Fuel regulator: USD$150 - Tomei rising rate incl gauge. This is needed as factory 20E FPR is not rising rate
- Gauges: USD$250 or less - wideband, water temp, oil temp, oil pressure & sandwich plate. Best to buy the wideband & sandiwch plate new, the other gauges can either be new or secondhand
- ECU & wiring & tuning: USD$200 or less - secondhand Apexi SAFC (air fuel controller) & dyno time. Fit one of these with the stock 20E ECU and tune it yourself on the highway, using your wideband as reference. You won't be able to change timing, but running base timing at 10deg BTDC will keep things safe & not affect power through loss of timing. Alternatively seek a dyno to run it up to check afterwards, using their knock headphones
- Exhaust: USD$300 or less - using the low mount manifold means you can use an off the shelf bolt on exhaust for an R32
- Intercooler & piping: USD$100-300 secondhand - you can cobble together intercooler piping from secondhand piping or get a piping kit for an R32
- Fabrication: USD$150 or less - cost of modifying a stainless low mount manifold
- Misc (hoses, catch can, manual boost controller): USD$50 or less
All up, USD$2289 or less if you buy things secondhand. A lot less than USD$5755 ($7955 less the gearbox component)
Sure it will be limited to about 220hp, but bear in mind his car won't make 320hp when he downsizes to a better sized turbo

Yea my guy sammit was simply haven fun activities making him and she had too spend all the time carrying him and keeping him healthy of course sammit was a real man and was there for her bye her side doing what every man should be doing in this fkd up world we live in these days and dose what he can together too be able too bless her with being able too be mostly stay at home mom and watch him grow together soo I feel that should be called even right there both are beyond blessed 🙌

One major factor to keep in mind for things like this: You don't need to use new off the shelf parts for ANY of this. Used RB20/30 turbo cam, junkyard 440cc injectors would probably be enough for at least a few PSI of boost, there are plenty of cars that came from the factory with turbos that would be sized well for this, if you have a friend who welds or own a welder you can get the fab work done for cheaper, the list goes on. You can spend as much or as little as you want.
the swift really looks like a rally car with the damage :D
lexus is200/ altezza as200 is also a great platform to throw a turbo. the rest is pretty much drift ready, trans, lsd, cheap anglekits and coilovers
price listing of my is200:
car 1400€
turbokit from ebay with everything it needs except injectors and boost controller 2500€
1zz injectors from ali: 25€
greddy used boost controller: 75€
bc coilovers: 1200€
workmeister reps: 800€
clutch:250€
mini mantis angle kit on sale (thx sam got it bc of your story lol) 800€
total: 7050€ or 7846,28 USD but that includes everything and then you essentially got a mini chaser :)

The moneyfacts hit harder than a stepfather. It's always the same, I'm building a car and after a few months think to myself I haven't used THAT much money... And then start adding up in my head and realize how much money I have actually spent

It's definitely a chunk of change and you could still cut some corners on parts, but that a pretty damn good price overall. Great r&d for the hobby as well. Great job!

It's weird how a little pole can make such significant damage. I like how youre able to make it better looking.
The biggest saving will come if/when you have to replace the motor stuff trying to buy 2 x rb25 motors
That quarter panel on the swift doesn't need to be replaced. A good body man with a frame machine can straighten that in a few hours. Won't even need much body filler. The crushed part will pull out well too.
Truly respect for 20e build. This the kind of content I like to see. 20e means nothing to me in the states but was cool to see this come to fruition. Need shit like this from US too many sleeper infinity m30s around and j30s like mine

Its more cheaper than 1UZ swap or 1JZ,even for RB25, and its still street legal,man this is the best solution for my cefiro,

Love the Nisstune I have had one since the 2007 or something like that. In South Australia my tuner hooked me up for my 180SX with a CA18DET and has been running ever since and around 300whp for my daily.
get a come along . mount to a concrete pillar and the damaged corner , with a small sledge/maybe body hammer , while under tension tap the high spots gently and slowly.. itll pull slowly out as you add more tension. itlll go back close enough.
Get some plywood and fibreglass and go full bosozoku on the swift, saves repairing the dent if you just make the rear end 3 feet longer 😆

Why not ask you friend who fixes all your drift cars (Steve or whats his name) to fix it and buy this Swift from May and have it as a Rally car and buy her a newer model of Swift or a better family car

Weeks after i dont think the rear bumper goes back to original shape. You must do it instantly after it happening to got more changse.
Tape would be great because you could also use it when packaging merch.
Stock RB25 turbo. Gose hard on the E Banga
In the U.S. that Skyline stock costs at least 10k😢. So plus 8k for parts. Or you can buy a gtst for 20-22k

I work in a bodyshop for years lad and we just fixed and audi a6 a 2016 one with worse damage than that excluding parts the paint and bodywork was €900 you really should just get it pulled out with a dozer(big ass porta power) or bench. Their welds on a new quarter panel wont be as good as factory and will eventually rust . Just NEEDS A WEE PULL . Dont change the quarter panel that will be a mess.

I plan on buying a na 1jz jzx100 and I wonder if it's even worth all the effort to turbo it or to just buy a gte for way too much money. I heared the block and the crank are the same as on the gte so probably everything I need are rods + pistons, a gte head and obiously a turbo no? There is no info at all about ge+t so I hope someone can answer this for me.

That's actually pretty reasonable for how much power it makes and it sounds amazing!🔥🔥🔥 Hypothetically if someone wanted to do this and keep it straight auto would it drop the cost more? I mean I don't think it would because you might have to do some upgrade work to the auto trans. I don't even know how much HP those can even take and I also assume the wiring harness would be different since it wouldn't be a manual. I'm just curious is all so any insight would be great!
You could keep it auto if you don't want to drift. I'm not sure but I think the rb20 gearbox can handle up to 350hp

The problem with this whole thing is that in todays market, it's near to impossible to get a running skyline for $1500.
That’s where c35 laurels come into play. Lots cheaper and you can get 20de neos or 25de neos

That's not bad especially how much you paid for the car, got it running good and swapped with a manual transmission. Next up, surprise the wife with an RX7 or RX8 right before you put get the Swift fixed
Honestly, it's cool to see the potential of these motors. But I'm sorry that's almost $11000. Canadian if i'm gonna be dropping that kind of money on a motor I might as well just swap in an RB25

How do you get the car for that price and shipped to the states? The motor build isn’t the biggest issue it’s getting the car here to start the build! I would definitely loved to do this build and just have the car for a unique daily awesome ride! Need suggestions on where to get the car from???

Most people should stick to bolt on boy stuff. Spend 2-6k on a simple build (more power/lowered/wheels/tires/tint) and just DD that shit into the ground.
