  • how to play & playthrough video of the board game tsuro phoenix rising.
Tsuro: Phoenix Rising is a new entry in the classic Tsuro series. The game shares a bond with the foundations of the venerable original: play tiles, move pawns, and stay in play, but it introduces a revolutionary board that allows for the double-sided tiles to flip and rotate throughout the game, creating diverging paths and opening up new strategies.

17:14 wasn't there a red lantern on the tile at R4C4 which you missed? She should have gotten one extra star?

Hi Aussie, thank you for checking i on us. I am no longer making videos on this channel as I had to focus on completing my dissertation on writing comprehensible rulebooks on my channel here:
      czcams.com/users/QualityTimeResources
Julie and I will be uploading more content like this in the near future there. Please continue supporting this channel as well.

Local store has a kickstarter copy of this, but between the component issues (did they not learn from Ares Games _War of the Ring_ 1st edition Nazgul, and what did they expect with that board having no edge support for the tiles with that being the location of the pawns) and the play style I think I will pass. I like the simplicity and speed of play of the original, and my wife loves explaining the rules ("don't fall off the board while placing a tile, be the best at that and you win") to everyone.
What might have gotten me to buy it? Better sculpts that had a heavy weighted base that ended in a point to show where you are facing, a larger set of tile properly cut, more distinct sides (say day/night or even moonlit/moon under clouds), and probably a neoprene mat. However, it seems so fiddly, inelegant, and prone to breakage/damage. I'd probably us a neoprene mat and not their board if I did own it assuming the tiles are thick enough to pick up (and if not, get a suction cup dart to pick them up).
Thanks for the playthrough and review, and thanks for bringing your industry knowledge to your review process.

holy cow! Pay attention when your playing. You broke so many rules. Changing paths, not moving lanterns. If your going to review the game you should probably follow the rules. Also why didn't you just edit out the "mistakes" when editing?

Thanks for your honest review. While the game looks interesting, I am sure I will get frustrated because the phoenixes look too unstable and spinning/flipping the cards around can drive me nuts. I do see myself using the boats from the other Tsuro game instead of the phoenixes.

17:31 is that a legal move shifting the Phoenix back like that to take another path?

Hi EPS, the shift looked like I switched lines but I checked at 16:30 and it appears to be correct.
      Thank you for watching.
