    So these things you are pointing out such as suspension position are common on most these type of vehicles and this damage should in fact happen it is designed to crumple to absorb the energy of an accident before it transfers to the driver, this is a design feature in almost all modern vehicles, this car has done its job perfectly and is an indication the gwm are designing great vehicles, let's not forget the gwm was co designed by some of Europe's top automotive engineers.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  Před měsícem

      Be this as it may, I'm just translating (rather closely to original) what a very experienced car mechanic was saying. If he is surprised that a wheel did SO much damage - it means there is a good reason to be surprised.

  • @mahyadnaadlaw3112
    @mahyadnaadlaw3112 Před 4 měsíci +3

    It is an extensive damage due to safety design. It did what it meant to do - absorb the impact and spread it around and not tru the occupants. (Watch those F1 cars crashings.)
    The tyre, most probably, hit sideways at 80khp plus the gwm at 70kph. The angle of impact is also a great consideration.
    If the design is a decade or 2 ago the result could be different. The body may have been affected that much but definitely the occupants may suffer significantly.

    I work for a tow truck company in Australia and I have seen all sorts of damage caused by all sorts of things to all sorts of vehicles and they are all different. The only true indication of how safe a car is, is the ANCAP testing and rating. Of which the GWM Poer (Cannon in Aus.) has a 5 star rating. The important thing to remember here is surviving an accident, if you can get out of a car with the least amount of damage to yourself you probably won't care too much what the car looks like. Here is the link for the GWM Cannon ANCAP testing.
    czcams.com/video/_TWkw52-Blk/video.html
    As far as I can see in this impact the car did exactly what it was ment to do, protect the occupants. You can get out and go and buy a new car, thats what we all pay overinflated insurance premiums for.
    But I am certainly glad we don't pay what you guys pay for your imported cars. The GWM in this video looks like the base model (Cannon) which in Aus, for ABN Holders (tax dodge), is about 33k AUD or 21.5K USD and the top of the range Cannon XSR with all the bells and whistles is 49K AUD or 32K USD

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  Před 3 měsíci

      Fair points mate, and yeah - everything, including import tax, is completely out of this world ridiculous in Australia.

  • @darroncrick9993
    @darroncrick9993 Před 4 měsíci +4

    An errant truck wheel is an incredibly dangerous missile. His suggestion that a Toyota would suffer less damage is pure wishful thinking.
    Fortunately in Australia that is a total write off, regardless of make . The integrity of that GWM is totally compromised and anyone who drives the repaired ute is risking their life.
    Sure we live in a new era of throw away-ism. But the safety of modern vehicles is an advancement, even pointless (to most owners) tradie trucks are light years better than anything for previous decades.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  Před 4 měsíci

      We don't just live in an era of one-time-use "almost anything" but it's also about the location. E.g. in Australia, no one would even understand the point of this video, scratching their heads and wondering what's the fuss all about and why the craftsmen in Russia even make a topic out of this. Because yeah, pay a steep premium, something happens to your car - ah well - here's another. There it's different. Perspective is sobering sometimes.

  • @ajs-qv5fe

    a great a proportion of imported car prices in russia goes to import and.or excise tax, regarding the collision, some info on the speed the canon and the wheel were travelling will be very helpful, also theres no info on how it collided with the railing, apparently elia much prefers japanese cars to the chinese and thats how the ole world works

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  Před 4 měsíci +1

      We don't have info on collision speed etc, as I've mentioned... But regardless. One wheel shouldn't do this much damage. It wouldn't have travelled at the speed of light (or even sound lol) to cut through the car like a knife through a tin can.

      @ValueCarsAU 😆 🤣 😂 😹. How did Mike Tyson say? It's all fun and games till ya get punched in the face. I don't think many owners saw this video. When buying a vehicle it's wise to do good research. Crash tests are a wealth of information. If ignored that could mean death for a family member. Or the driver

    • @GrassrootsViews
      @GrassrootsViews Před měsícem +1

      @@milesdavis8665are you insinuating that the driver of this vehicle didn't make it?

    • @milesdavis8665
      @milesdavis8665 Před měsícem

      @GrassrootsViews no. I okay he did make it. But the damage to the vehicle says more about the quality of the vehicle if it gets into an accident. Frankly I was considering buying one but the nearest dealer is like over a 12 hour drive away.

    Again a Russian truck loses it wheel. The Russian has a sense of humour about the Chinese selling their cars courses so they don't have to drive them themselves.

      If you watch any videos of vehicle crashes in Russia and some of the Asian countries, you will see the number of incidents where a wheel has come off from either a truck and or car. Not suggesting that this happens here if that is what you thought I meant.@@ValueCarsAU
