We add smoked brisket in our lima beans mmm that is some good eating! Can't wait to try these smothered pork chops. There was a lady that opened up a kitchen and served simple and homemade lunches and would deliver at our work. Every Tuesday was smothered pork chops and rice. I miss that. I miss her too.

My mom used to make hot water cornbread for us and we loved it. She would cook a big pot of turnip/mustard greens or pinto bean and then sometimes fry us up some hot water cornbread. We couldn't wait to eat it. Thanks for watching. Have a Blessed Night!!

I was making pork chops again, this evening and I just had to re-watch your video because I enjoyed it so much. The food is comfort enough… But there’s something about you that is extremely comforting, as well! Makes me feel like I’m cooking with my Mama! i told my husband that my mother used to make smothered pork chops when i was growing up but with mashed potatoes on the side and then pour the gravy over it all.....yum! thank you Ms Dee!!
Thank you for sharing, Ms. Brenda. Being a northerner living in Georgia for 18 years, I have come to appreciate good Southern cooking. I never saw grits on a breakfast menu up north. The only thing I miss about the north is Pizza Burgers. It is a hamburger with a melted cheese center and I would usually have to order it by the case for my sons. It has its own taste and I ate them for 60 + years. I could never duplicate the taste in my kitchen. Will try this pork chop recipe soon though.

Mmmm....Ms. Brenda! That just looks delicious! BTW, all kitchens in Hawaii have a rice cooker. It's an absolute must! We eat so much rice out here, and we also have a big Asian influence in our cuisine. Most Hawaiian families have the really big rice cooker, and when it's done cooking, it switches to a "warm" mode, so your rice stays hot for hours.
Maui Mom I have this same rice cooker and it switches to keep warm mode also

Add hot water it want lump as easy, easier to do if you cook your flour & oil stir till brown, than add your hot water about two cups of water,make it half oile & water 👍

That fried cornbread puts a hankerin' on a person. Ooooh, my! I have some okra seeds soaking in water to plant tomorrow morning. Once they grow we will pickle them. They are great fried and a delight to pickle them. My Kansas wife says they are 'larapin'. I think that means good. Ha! When she speaks Kansas I'm not always sure. :)

Just fixed Ms. Brenda's smothered pork chops and the cornbread. If there was ever a food "match made in heaven" this is it. The chops are so tender and moist they can be pulled away from the bone with a plastic fork. Hot water cornbread and the gravy from the chops are a meal by themselves. An old southern expression is "food like this so good it almost makes your tongue slap your brains out." In my opinion, this fine lady cooks like no one else on earth. I love her videos and her recipes. You can literally cook along with her. My I-Pad now spends more time in the kitchen than anywhere else. Thank you Ms. Brenda.

How much oil did you use to sauté the vegetables? In a clean pan?
I’m using about 1/2 or 3/4 cup of oil depending on how much vegetables you are sautéing.
