Joe's piano style was very special. He played from the heart....he had groove. He wasn't a 'technician jazz pianist'....he was a 'groove jazz pianist'....my favourite. His passing was a shock....along with George Duke. They are playing up in heaven now. RIP Joe.
Her voice is so powerful, she carries the mic more like a candle. :D. I've seen it live 1990 in Munich. The high and loud tones needed the whole length of her arm. That was playing with funky R&B ensemble. Normal singers more eat the microphone. When young Randy came to choral rehearsal late, many singers stop singing. Either they want to listen, or they can't hear themselves anymore. She is my absolutely favorite since many decades.

When I was barely a teenager, I disliked this kind of music and especially hated this kind of 'piano meanderings', but now several decades later, these same meanderings reach parts of my brain that other music fails to reach, it's quite intoxicating. I love how it seems to go off and also intertwines with the main tune at the same time. Maybe it's an age thing but to me it's cohesively exquisite. I guess everyone experiences music differently and even that isn't set in stone! 😎
