@@s4268s Do you mean sovereignty of the EU (as a whole) from the rest of the world, or sovereignty of each european state independently ?
In both cases Europe as a whole struggles to get any form of sovereignty and to be able to decide for itself, mainly for military and economic reasons.
The US is by far the biggest contributor from NATO in sending military supply and equipment to Ukraine. Without them the EU would probably not have been able to allow Ukraine to keep their territory from Russia as much as they did so far. For a while Europe has been decreasing the amount of resources they spend on their armies and military equipment. They are only deciding to re-increase it now because of the Ukrainian war.
On the international level they are not the unstoppable military power they used to be anymore, even though they still have the means to defend themselves very well, they just don't have the military resources to pressure big military nations like China or Russia at home. They need the US the be relevant on taking proactive actions like that and so to have any weight in negotiating with big foreign powers.
There is also the fact that Europe's economy is now extremely dependent on foreign resources and manufactures. Such a big percentage of Europe's manufactured goods is being made in China (mostly in the tech industry, but not only). As explained at the beginning of this video, it was because of the US' (and then of the EU's) policy to relocate a lot of industries in China, mainly because you had access to China's natural ressources and manpower (which at the time was way cheaper to use than in the West).
Europe's needs for metal industry also can't be fulfilled with only european mines as most of them are too small or simply already ran out of metal ore.
And then you have of course the most important of all resources, which are energy sources. Europe doesn't have enough fossile energy sources on its own territory to sustain its energy needs anymore, and it has actually been the case for a while already. They were very dependent on russian gas and oil before the start of the Ukrainian war, and as soon as the war started they decided they didn't want to use russian resources anymore so the energy prices started to skyrocket. They however actually managed to find different sources pretty quickly by making new deals with other foreign countries and so avoided a big recession in 2022. But by doing so they also reinforced they dependency on the US, since they had to increase energy imports from them. Also at the beginning of the video he briefly mentions Europe trying to sanction India for selling russian gas to them. What is happening there is that Europe doesn't want to buy Russian gas directly (because of the war), but they still need it and are currently buying it from India even though it is actually coming from Russia (you can see the hypocrisy and nonsense).
It is worth to mention that in Europe there is an attempt at a "green" energy transition which is widely talked about in European media. It is supposed to rely on energy sources like solar and wind energy and to "save" the european energy problems. Many europeans wrongly think that Europe will be able to become independent for its energy with those new sources and get rid of fossile energy dependance, but unfortunately "green" economic growth is unrealistic and that dream probably won't happen. Also so far they asked China to manufacture their solar panels and wind turbines (no sovereignty in that).
Overall Europe is way too dependent on foreign resources right now to even dream of being economically sovereign.
@@misterblue2208 I believe that NATO expansion was and is a mistake. As for each state to have a vote and act collectively is a way to make it a democratic movement, the EU is not. The green dream is just that. The EU need to trade with other who have what is needed but to do so in and on, it's own terms. The tragically of the Ukraine could have been avoided, Russia applied to join the EU but were turned down on The USA say so. What is the point of NATO if there is no one to defend against? so in essence I agree with you, but wish Europeans had more backbone.

I don't agree. I am German and have lived more than half of my life in other countries . I look at Germany and I am a more severe critic of it than most people I meet.
@@thesilkpainterI agree with your point in some sense but the nationalism and pushback from young Indians emanate from the fact that they are always portrayed as poor, subservient and backwards. India is still a poor country but has stabilized a large diverse population. It's doing pretty good in space and defense, engineering as well but the narrative is still the same. It's not like Germany at all where most portrayals are positive or neutral.
BBC/french media only publishes the most bizarre incidents from India (like a cow dung festival that happens in a remote village that most have never heard of). It's a systemic way to create a narrative about India and Indians.
Germany has much in its past to b ashamed about. Being nationalistic or patriotic there raises fears of the rise of the Neo Nazis. There is nothing of that sort in the Indian historical experience. On the contrary, lack of a unified national spirit allowed foreign invaders to divide and rule us. So the drive for a nationalistic patriotic urge is good in the Indian context. India is not a danger to any neighbour

Putin PhD had political value which fit with his understand and perspective of the important asset of Russia and hence chose that certain field to research in, which in turn would improve his understanding to point that he could manage and maneuver the threats to Russia, both internal and external.
31:57 Hmm mentioning Nehru. This tells me he didnt want to sound undemocratic or he has too much respect for the democratic system. Do you want Kanhiya kumar or Rahul Gandhi to lead India when you say 'when you found a solution internally'? Do you know how many years would be lost, an entire generation would get crippled if there is not a good leader leading India? Democracy is a farce just because you see the facade doesn't mean you have to believe in US system. Biden, Trump etc they are all puppets of the deep state, they are elected to take blame for blunders and nothing else.

Very helpful interview. I deeply appreciate access to this superb summary of global geopolitics. Looking at this from an Irish perspective the US appears to be a much greater threat to India from US destabilisation than from tensions with China. Border issues pose tensions but these can with good will be dealt with through negotiation. The US deep state has every reason to work its divide and rule techniques to fire up tensions and divisions as it did between Ukraine and Russia. Working to prevent or heal divisions is an ongoing task for us all.
Well said about the DEEP-STATE's Divide n conquer policy. One recent example, In 2020, after Chinese aggression in to Indian territory in Galwan Valley, ill-advised US President Mr. Trump was encouraging India for an out and out war with China, promising even to send NATO troops to India (NATO troops that were reluctantly being stationed and paid by Germany until then). This would've been a foolish step for India. Instead, Putin brought both the parties to the table n made peace, allegedly by threatening China to stop the sale of Russian missiles.
