I'm starting to think that Mum was right in banning me from my favorite book series.
Poor, poor Ferncloud deserved SO much better. Not only killed because the fandom was incredibly sexist back in the day (and still kind is working on that) thought she was nothing more than a useless kit bearer, but didn't even make an appearance in the Broken Code, the arc where you know, HER BROTHER was causing absolute chaos. It would've been amazing to see her try and reach Ashfur, only for him to turn his back.
Ferncloud suffered a lot of loss as well, losing three kits during the forest's destruction, and Foxleap to the Great Battle wounds, and Icecloud to Greencough. Icecloud mentioned that she died the death of a warrior, but in the books it's much less epic-it's noted that Fern looked petrified of Brokenstar, didn't even do much damage, before having her neck broken by him. Ferncloud deserved more.
Even the wiki goes to say "Though she spent most of her time in the nursery, she was as brave as any ThunderClan warrior and fought in the Great Battle, in which she died at the paws of Brokenstar." Instead, I'd have written something like this "Ferncloud was a fierce defender of the nursery, just as any loyal Clan cat would be. During the Great Battle, she fought with the fierceness of LionClan against Brokenstar, and died at his paws, defending the next generation of ThunderClan cats." I dunno something like that sounds better than "ha yeah she sure spent a lot of time in the nursery but could still fight."
I think Ferncloud would be even fiercer than any ThunderClan warrior bc she is a mother and would be protective of her kits like how she gave Bramblestar a life to love his Clan as a mother would love her kits and he felt this fierce burning in his chest. She went through so much and lost almost every kit she had. Her only surviving kit is Birchfall….and poor Dustpelt was plagued by nightmares of her dying..that’s how you know Dustpelt really loves Ferncloud.
FernCloud is my favorite cat for a reason, she’s super sweet and has so much potential that was thrown into the dumpster! A permaqueen who’s Ashfur’s sister, that’s so interesting!!

I know people bring up "omg they're related" but like so are half the clan cats related to each other so let's just not think about that because the ship is one of the most wholesome in all warriors-YES even when he started crushing on her as a paw. He never pressured her like Thistle did Spotted, that progression just felt natural. Fernpaw hung out with Dustpelt as much as she did with her own mentor Darkstripe.
@@TheRibottoStudios yeah Dustpelt and Ferncloud’s relationship was basically just “18 year old hangs out with 17 year old” and their relationship progressed really nicely

Is sad how the Erins don't give enough attention to she-cat characters when they can have a very nice story and development for the arcs.
But with these, I love to see how the fandom holds appreciation to female characters even if they are bad or not

I've been so upset that in recent times, ShadowClan hasn't had a girl leader. The only non-field guide exclusive girl leader they have had is Shadowstar, the first ever leader of her clan. From Cedarstar to now, there hasn't been a girl leading ShadowClan. At least WindClan made up for it a bit by having Heatherstar before Tallstar, then the other clans actually have main arc leaders that happen to be women. Worryingly, RiverClan might be saying goodbye to their girlboss status with the fake out leader team of two brown tabby toms (as if all the other clans aren't currently lead by cats with at least a little brown on them) and Leafstar might be next on the chopping block since she's Firestar's age (or close to it) with Hawkwing, a tom, slated to become leader next unless the Erins are actually willing to kill off main characters (challenge: impossible). We can always hope that Tigerstar or Bramblestar fall from power by the new "make leaders step down" rule wherein we'd get Cloverstar or Squirrelstar, though something tells me that the Erins would rather pull an Ashfoot on Cloverfoot (kill her off "last minute" book wise and replace with a boy) and have another brown tom leader **again** and would have Squirrel refuse to lead if Bramble can't and would retire peacefully to the elders den (I wouldn't want her leading after this long anyhow, she deserves rest and to not be in a spot where she'll be blamed for actually everything as opposed to before where she was still blamed for everything). You know who we'd get as leader if Squirrel stepped down? PROBABLY LIONBLAZE! At least he's not brown but that doesn't change the fact we're talking about Lionblaze becoming Lionstar.

A lot of characters deserved better. Ferncloud is underrated. I usually think about her when they mention the nursery #awesomequeen 😂😅❤

I have to disagree with the “ferncloud should have done/said something to Ashfur” comments. It’s not her job or anyone’s to control incel behaviour and she deserved to peace out in star clan after serving her clan so bravely. She deserves way more than just being a sister to a narcissist. Probably one of the most underrated characters in the whole series
That's kind WHY they think she should of done something..try to help her brother back on the track of good like a good sister, or try to stop him as the caring person she was?? Instead it's like they forgot about her and threw her away which is just sad, people just wanted to see her again

Kinda reminds me of an AU that me and my partners are writing.
But we don't plan on making Squilf a villain, the goal is much more to explore how serious traumas can afflict someone's mind if the person doesn't recieve the right help and support, since this poor cat is basically the punching-box of the Erin and I honestly don't remember a medicine cat in the book being as good with helping patient to heal their minds (come on, they can talk to the dead cats and give prophecies to their almost-immortal leaders but it would be too irrealistic to make one medic good with psychology as well?) like they do with the phisical injuries.
So it's her turning her back on the stars and doing bad choices more 'cause influenced by pain and the fear of certain events repeating with her family (this is set just after Darktail's death) than a: "I'm evil now... die", adding the influence of Mapleshade since she is pretty good at manipulating cats and while one may say that it's easier to have a kit as your puppet, I can unfurtunately say that trauma, pain and not having someone who can give you the kind of support that's needed and is different from that of a mate or a relative, can make you as fragile and easy to corrupt when you can't see the truth past your nightmares and may act more on impulse than heart, I've tried it on my skin (thou my experience of course may not be the same for anyone facing certain things, every person has a different way to live and face these things).

I was so upset when Holly leaf died because she was probably gonna be leader
She wouldn't of been tbh..squirrelflight is lined up as the next, once she's too old to be leader (if bramble lives that long) holly may also be too old to be properly considered (so it'd go to another cat, plus continuing to choose only family for leader would start to look kinda bad and if the clan were realistic they'd be pretty upset to see firestar x4 as the leader)
Tbh im kinda disappointed that no one drew poppy frost although she is not shown i like to make a my head cannons giveing her a little sass like she was the sassy sister and honey fern was the sweet one

Although I'm only on the third book of Dawn Of The Clans, I do think that Wind Runner and Tall Shadow were really great leaders. So was Shaded Moss and River Ripple.
This is just my opinion, I'm not trying to make people offended by this comment.
If there were only sh-cats in the books warriors would be gone in a bliss, they wouldn’t have kits to carry the generations

In a fan clan I made it’s called fog clan where she cats are the ones that hold all important roles leader deputy med ect they have full control over the clan and they are one if the largest and strongest clans that’s how great they are

The only reason ferncloud just barely exists is because she could have prevented like 90% of Ashfur’s bullshitery and prevented most major plot points in The Three and beyond
Spottedleaf needed more time in the books! Like some others, she died in THE FIRST BOOK. I'm on book 4 and happy she appears in Fireheart/star's dreams :)
Why is there negativity around Spottedleaf? I'm on Omen of The Stars, and see no reason not to like Spottedleaf.

@@Firefly8206 I usually don't hang around the fandom's drama too much, but the few times I've read about the Spottedleaf negativity was about her book: "Spottedleaf's Heart" and while I was searching for constructive criticism, some people weren't actually giving any real one and just going full: "She should have instantly knew Thistleclaw was grooming her and told the Clan everything in the very first moment! Instead she teaches readers to be quiet!" (basically victim blaming young victims who are innocent and naive, reducing the problem of groomers and maniupulators to something as easy as "You recognize the intention behind the smile istantly" and still blaming victims who can't talk that soon either because of shame or fear, bashing something that's written pretty realistically), again not many constructive criticism about it so I stopped searching, didn't want to catch the aggressive fans.
Some others simply criticized how her character was used in certain occasions to tease the SandxFirexSpotted like the little dramatic moment when she appears to tell Sandstorm that she could trust Firestar's love since they could have never been a thing, or the fact that Erin often described her just like the "Really hot lady who crushed hard on a teen and they're entire thing is based on her being called 'the pretty she-cat' and him being hormonal'".
I don't know if there have been other reasons for negativity around her character, as I said I didn't look that much into the situation.
@@laraendlight9887 People dislike her because she was kind of just..a boring a character? She smelled good and that was about it. She talked to firepaw like a few times (not all were pleasant chats) and that somehow fueled the weird spottedXfireXsand thing which everyone hated (they literally killed off spotted for good just so firestar would stay loyal to his mate..like wtf..); not to mention the fact he was still a kitten when he joined..she was a grown cat of a few years! He was way too young for her to of been obsessed with him like that. Their relationship just didn't make sense.
Essentially it's just "ew mary sue cat who is a grown woman with a weird crush-ish obsession on a teen that continues with her ghost vising him, his children, and ha to be killed so he'll stay loyal to his wife..oh and she smells good, that's about it for personality and description besides obsessive over some random child"..that's pretty much the fandoms opinion on her (spotted deserved so much better than what the writers did to her)
