@@rsnfll so basically locking your knees is just standing up straight enough to where your knees are the farthest back they can go and you’re using them for support to help you stand up. some people do it to relieve pressure on the muscles after standing for a long amount of time (because locking your knees means you’re relying on your bones rather than your muscles to help you stand.) tons of people lock their knees daily. but because the legs act as a major blood pump in the body and this function relies on the movement of your leg muscles, if you lock your knees the blood will pool in the legs and lead to a low oxygen state in the brain. not enough blood is reaching it and your blood contains oxygen needed for the brain to function. so if you stand like this for long enough, especially during a performance - that’s what makes you pass out
its not that they didnt notice, in choir, if someone faints during a concert, you have to keep singing and keep looking at the director, and you can see the kids saw from the corner of their eye.
@@ThatOneChorusKidI nearly passed out and my knees were never locked. In fact the moment I started feeling bad I started squatting and things went downhill from there. I walked out as soon as the song ended and saved my self.

Bro locked his knees when he was Probably told VERY VERY CLEARLY NOT TO DO THAT!! My choir teacher tells us almost every day the week of a concert not to lock our knees
@@gymnasticsforever110Most teachers tell you to not lock your knees, because when you lock your knees for a few minutes (3-7 minutes) it cuts off your blood circulation, causing you to faint. When I was in choir a year ago, a girl locked her knees and she fainted from the top riser, causing her to not only pass out, but to have a concussion.
As someone who has had someone fainted on them in choir practice, don’t lock your knees, and be grateful that you landed on someone instead of the hard metal risers
for people who don't understand, locking your knees for a long time Causes blood to basically pool in that specific location. Your muscles in that area Can also turn off due to inactivating After a while. Both of these can cause you to faint Decrease blood flow and and your legs basically just Giving out.
I can’t understand anything, is this even a language or is it just a language I never knew existed? (No offense or being rude if you speak this language or not)
This was one of the scariest moments of my life. We had a veterans program and all was good we were singing our songs and all was going great. Until a kid on the top row fainted. He fell FORWARDS down all the risers and hit his face on the bottom row. He fell on my shoulder and slipped off slamming his chin on the risers. He split his chin open and went to the hospital. That wasn’t even to long ago. Edit: he also said he was dehydrated before the concert and knew it was coming. He also had his knees locked the whole program. Now whenever we go to watch other grade’s programs our music teacher is showing the kids to bend their knees every now and then.
So my weird choir stories: I was like 6 or 7, and the group one level above mine were on stage. From what I’ve heard, one of them fainted and another threw up. Same concert, within like 15 seconds of each other. Separate story: So in February 2023, I was supposed to attend the World Choir Games in Hull, England. Now I live in England, right? Only an hour on the coach. But I felt ill on the morning and my phone barely lasted 10 minutes at that time. I ended up breaking out into panic (attack) and I didn’t go. As soon as I got home I threw up. Also got a new phone that day so yay.
My choir detector always said never react to messing smt up and one time a kid started singing when it wasn't her part so it ended up being a solo but she started panicing when she messed up and the crowd knew so she was lectured later
This is my biggest fear with POTS. Had to adjust the stage seating chart in my child so I could get off stage quickly if needed thankfully the first concert went smoothly another one in 2 weeks hoping for the best
At my brothers last choir concert, it was combined with the high school madrigals, one of the girls (3rd row back) fainted, fell forward, tumbled thru 2 rows of both Freshman and Seniors, hit her head on the piano, busted her lip, and got a minor concussion. All in the last 2 seconds of the song
Last Winter during rehearsals for our Christmas concert, the same thing happened to a younger boy in our choir. He locked his knees and fell onto the little girl in the row in front of him. One of the directors saw him falling and got to him before they hit the floor. She helped him sit down, and they got him some water. We all just kept singing, just like we were supposed to. The worst part was that it was on the parents day! Close to 30 moms and dads were there watching the whole thing! He was perfectly okay afterwards, and nobody fainted during that actual concert. But a crazy experience nonetheless!😂
This happened to me. The exact thing happened we had a 3 hour concert and i didnt realize i was locking my legs so i fainted lucky the back row caught me 😅

we performed outside at a circus once and we had 3 seperate people pass out and not a single time did we stop they just had a couple adults sweep them away and they came back the next song XD

someone fainted on the top row in my 7th grade choir class when we were rehearsing, bro fell down 4 levels. It was prolly bc of how hot it was up there, it was in may which is hot season #1 where i live
We had a girl throw up in the alto section during our choir concert (in the middle of a song) a few days ago. It got all over a few girls and one girl got it in her hair so all the altos avoided that spot. I didn't see the throw up all I saw in the recording was a bunch of heads turning and the girl walking off stage. I feel so bad for the girls that had throw up on them.
Story Time: every year we have a Xmas concert and last year we got a new choir teacher and we had to wear all black under the bright lights. 1 person fainted and 10 people were overheated and had to be escorted off the stage
annnd as our choir teacher says THIS is why you don’t lock your knees 😭

It happened in my 6th grade choir and our instructor told us that afterwards. Ive never forgotten it
