Have you seen Simon's reaction before first Susan's performance? this highly competent but narcissistic asshole looked at her like he saw shit. Privately, he's just a scoundrel. A wealthy egoist and misogynist who had an affair with the wife of an infertile friend, who for many years had been trying to have a child with the woman he loved, and Simon had picked her up and impregnated her. He was a friend of the house. And the guy who trusted him was left without a wife and a child.

If she had come out as a 20 yr old bomb shell and couldn’t sing a note she would firstly have the judges interest and then been booed off the stage. The public world needs to change the way people’s appearances, which for the most part that’s how they are born are the way they are adjudicated. Susan became more famous and beloved than Elaine and that’s because she can not only sing, but she is humble, sweet and so likeable. I’m not saying Elaine isn’t. I’m saying this lady came out of no where, was ridiculed and then blew thousands of critical audience members right out of their seats. I’m glad Amanda sort of apologised to her. Susan was an inspiration to all those who are judged by their age and their plain looks. But God gave some a beautiful outside and others he gave a beautiful inside. You have to reach a certain age when you start noticing people don't look at you the same as when you were young and in you prime. Susan showed the world that inside she was full of beauty!

Me too...I'm wiping tears now and I must have watched her audition over a dozen times. All those who made fun and doubted her should be ashamed of themselves.
14 years have passed for me and this moment in time by Susan Boyle’s audition remains the #1 memory for me of all those years. She slew the ‘giant of hopelessness’ for millions of people who saw ‘hope’ triumph right before their unbelieving eyes. Jaws dropped and people stood to their feet in unison with every note that came out of her mouth. Still stands after all these years and the tears still flow. Greatest audition ever!
Today is Jan 1, 2023. I have tears running down both cheeks--all these years later. I'm a 51 year old American guy. I remember this happened on my birthday weekend that year. It's been the best birthday present I've ever received in my life.
Susan's performance still gives me goosebumps and tears in my eyes because it's so inspirational and makes me feel warm and good from the inside. She was this awkward, shy spinster living with her cat who found the courage to go in front of the world and take a crack at her dream. And it has paid off for her big time. No training, no song coaches, just pure talent she was born with. What a great story! Never tire of hearing this!
She also stayed home to care for her ailing mother. I just spent the past two years caring for my Mum at home. She needed 24 hour a day care. I wouldn't change a thing ❤️
It's what makes the song so emotionally powerful -- when she sings, "As they tear your hope apart" and ""I had a dream my life would be so different from this hell I'm living" it's coming from her heart and her life. 😢
By now, I must have watched this video 100 times, and I'm still in awe. One of the most beautiful voices I've heard, and a super sweet woman to sing it. I wish her all the success she deserves.
Not often you see someone's life change in a few seconds but 5 seconds into the song and it happens right there. Fantastic stuff. Arguably, better than Elaine Paige and didnt even know it. Probably one of the greatest live performances ever on British TV. One gets the impression she is truly singing from experience. Her mum had died and Susan hadn't sung in public for 4-5 years apparently.
After the initial response from the audience as soon as she sang the first line, it is really impossible not to be overwhelmed and manage to keep going. That just shows how down to earth she is and how much she likes singing.
This was the first clip I had ever seen of these talent shows. I still don't watch the showd but when I see something viral on CZcams I'll watch it. I was just down the 4:00 a.m. insomnia rabbit hole that is CZcams and the last video I played was PUDDLES PITY PARTY on AGT. So of course I clicked to this!
It’s sad how most people who watched this made assumptions based on her appearance but her voice is an absolute gift from God and it woke the world up. So happy she had this opportunity to let us all listen to her beautiful voice.
Truly a gift from God. I clearly remember how childlike she was to the point of attempting to just walk off the stage as if ay a school concert , absolutely unassuming and unaware of the gift she had given us.
Susan is now 61 if I am not mistaken. She rocks and really it is one of the most extraordinary audition I've ever seen. No one expected her to sing that good
She was brilliant and is...from the moment she opened up her mouth to sing and those who judge a book by the cover 'shame on them'.....I honestly didn't judge her nor did my husband when watching live.....we truly thought here comes a surprise.
Yeah she blew everyone away with how good she can sing. Her album I dreamed a dream was the best selling album of 2009. And has gone on to be one of the best selling albums of the 21st century. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_albums_of_the_21st_century#cite_ref-43
She could have been up there, on that stage, singing for 10 minutes, and no one would've minded. Still today, this performance is the barometer that every other performance will be measured against. Truly a breathtaking moment to experience over and over and over again.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face,,,
14 years and I still come back every now and then to see this beautiful soul perform. I am glad to have been able to witness how this wonderful woman became the star she deserves to be! And yet she still is that humble, wonderful, funny, loving person she was back in 2009. She is one of those rare human beings that could live forever and it wouldn't be enough. But I hope that she will be around for a long time even though she had to suffer a stroke last year. She fought her way back and I am so glad she did. God bless you, Susan. ❤
The lyrics to this song are some of the saddest ever sung. The way she sings it sounds victorious, but the final line is still as devastating as ever "My life has killed the dream I dreamed." Ms. Boyle conquers the story of the song by acting a bit cheeky, but then demonstrating what bravery looks like. The tigers come at night, but they don't always tear your hope apart. Ms. Boyle shows that hope is stronger than the tigers.
I watched this video so many times and all the time i ask myself why she went to this audition alone? she didn't have anybody to hug and share this wonderful moment
@@suboforever if you are subo, my adoration for you, you stood alone, and rightfully put the world of cynics flat on their ass, your voice is unique and I hope you find happiness.

You still went on to have the amazing musical career that you dreamed of and I'm wishing you good health and happiness for the future. Love you to bits 💞💞💞
She is the one responsible for all the judges now being more careful about the words they say and not taking people at face value like they used to in the past.
@@semoneg2826 it makes me wonder how many people they inadvertantly sabotaged by saying incredibly hurtful things and upsetting the contestents to the point that they couldnt perform at all.
For some reasons, every time I watch this vid, my tears will start when she Susan starts singing. Her voice is truly angelic. Amidst all the side glances and dismissive looks from all those in the audience and on the panel, she proves her so dead wrong. Fourteen years on, I'm still standing on her side. I hope her dreams can keep living.
This made me cry, one more blow for the little person, she was magic, I used to tell all my students if someone said you can't then politely ask why not, and go and prove them wrong, and if you fall stand up and go again and never stop. Well do e Susan.
Everytime I watch this it brings tears to my eyes! She never had it easy and walking out there was proof of that, but if anyone is an Overcomer , it is Susan Boyle!! ♥
She was so pure, innocent, honest, crystal, and excellent in her singing that her performance in 2009 has become a real classic and has made the word "hypocrisy" disappear forever on stage ever since then! The world today in 2023, alas, has lost totally the spirit of being full of "Susan Boyle-ness" for quite a long long time! No doubt at all, the world should dream this kind of dream sung by Susan and stand by Sysan's side all the time both inside and outside!
I have seen and listened to this video at least 100+ times and I will absolutely NEVER get tired of it!!! To be able to start living your dream at 48 is an accomplishment and I admire her so much for that. She is an amazing woman and I know her mother would be so proud of her! We love you so much Susan Boyle!!! You are an inspiration!!!! ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👏🌹🌷💐🌹🌷💐💖🌟🌟🌟
yea @@normadesmond6017 I think diversity deserved to win Susan Boyle had lost the plot by the time the final came around.it had all got a bit to much for her.
Susan came second to a dance troupe called Diversity. However she certainly won in the sense she's had a very successful career - now with 4 albums out, a stage musical about her life, a movie about her life coming, her first movie role coming, and she just wrapped up her first Scottish tour with sellout crowds and great reviews. She sang 24 songs!
I think that's deliberate. If she won, she'd be tied down to the show and a performance schedule. Going it alone (with Simon's help) increases your income++++
And I can't believe only 13k have like and 185 and liked your comment....she was FUCKING brilliant. Susan Boyle HUMBLED EVERYONE there that night. Truly the best under dog of any IDOL SHOW. She truly deserved to shine in this life 💛💚💙🩵💜🩷🧡❤

Probably one of the greatest live performances ever on British TV. One gets the impression she is truly singing from experience. Her mum had died and Susan hadn't sung in public for 4-5 years apparently.
She left them breathless. Came in as an underdog and went out like a champion. The light finally found you Susan and not a moment too late.
I wonder how that humble pie tasted.
Over the years, I've watched this at least 20 times and it never fails to make me cry. Just perfect.
Same
I could watch it everyday and it would NEVER GET OLD!!
Only 20?
Such an incredible audition..remember that well.
Yep
After the initial response from the audience as soon as she sang the first line, it is really impossible not to be overwhelmed and manage to keep going. That just shows how down to earth she is and how much she likes singing.
All these years later, her performance still chokes me up, with tears of joy filling my eyes. Susan, you rock! ♥️♥️♥️
Over a decade later and I still come back to this. This had me speechless then and it still gives me goosebumps to this day
I smile every time ear to ear
Me too!!
Indeed .
Heck yeah brother!
Susan is absolute proof that the world judges us by our looks. They were laughing at her before she sang 😢😢😢
Yeah and she knew too. Horrible
It’s all show. You know?
@Karla Gordon correct and guess who looked like mugs in the end good on u Susan .
The judges and the crowd were unkind and rude initially. But she proved them wrong❤❤❤❤
It’s sad how most people who watched this made assumptions based on her appearance but her voice is an absolute gift from God and it woke the world up. So happy she had this opportunity to let us all listen to her beautiful voice.
Yes a sad world today
And her appearance would be ordinary anywhere else but on stage. I doubt she was ever treated that badly in her life.
A real gift from God......
Of course she has a form of autism too
Truly a gift from God. I clearly remember how childlike she was to the point of attempting to just walk off the stage as if ay a school concert , absolutely unassuming and unaware of the gift she had given us.
14 years later, still brings tears to my eyes. What a phenomenal performance, Susan was amazing. Never judge a book by it's cover.
I'm literally crying right now
Just saying 😂
2023. I need a break from real life. Susan bring me to a dreamyland.
Ok now, thanks very much most beloved Susan. It's time to get up.
Just had a good cry😭
I will never forget this audition, nothing compares to how good she is. very impactful audition!
do not underestimate anyone because of their appearance
2024. Still the single greatest audition of all time.
Susan is now 61 if I am not mistaken. She rocks and really it is one of the most extraordinary audition I've ever seen. No one expected her to sing that good
you said it she is
She was brilliant and is...from the moment she opened up her mouth to sing and those who judge a book by the cover 'shame on them'.....I honestly didn't judge her nor did my husband when watching live.....we truly thought here comes a surprise.
Yeah she blew everyone away with how good she can sing.
Her album I dreamed a dream was the best selling album of 2009. And has gone on to be one of the best selling albums of the 21st century.

@@steveraman4562 stop judging people ok
Yes she is still great! I had the privilege to listen to her in 2020 just before the world turned. She was brilliant!!!!
No matter how many times I listen to Susan she always fills my heart with joy.
yup
Omg she still gives me funny incredible ❤wow
Agreed
is mostly because of the song..............
I remember the night I watched her the first time that following week it was such a moment of world hope .. still fills me up .. ❤
She could have been up there, on that stage, singing for 10 minutes, and no one would've minded. Still today, this performance is the barometer that every other performance will be measured against. Truly a breathtaking moment to experience over and over and over again.
This performance never gets old for me, I just love her
Hello Jean how are you doing today?
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face,,,
This is my go-to video whenever my head tells me I can't do something.
Every time I feel down, I come back to watch this and get inspired again. Thank you forever my beloved Susan Boyle.
I do too. This is Sarah not Alex. Every time I feel sad, this seems to pop up.
Same
same here my pains drift away..
THIS 👆🏻
Same here, lifts me up every time
14 years and I still come back every now and then to see this beautiful soul perform. ❤
If every there was an example of how Gods' talent is visible for us, this is surely it.
She said before she walked out “ I’m gonna make that audience rock” she did more than that. Fantastic!
청중을흔들었어요
She sucks ballz 🤮
The lyrics to this song are some of the saddest ever sung. The way she sings it sounds victorious, but the final line is still as devastating as ever "My life has killed the dream I dreamed." Ms. Boyle conquers the story of the song by acting a bit cheeky, but then demonstrating what bravery looks like. The tigers come at night, but they don't always tear your hope apart. Ms. Boyle shows that hope is stronger than the tigers.
Okie dokie
The lyrics are trash, the movie is garbage. She turned a pille of shit into a masterpiece.
Húúú, ez gyönyörű, köszönöm szépen Neked, hogy olvashattalak.
Nagyon vonzóan fogalmazol, érezni, hogy lélekből élsz.
Got to be one of THE most iconic moments in UK TV history.
This is a masterpiece of God! Uses the weak to confound the wise Bless the Lord
Yes famous now, worth millions and still lives a simple life. Well done her
I watched this video so many times and all the time i ask myself why she went to this audition alone? she didn't have anybody to hug and share this wonderful moment
The comments my brothers and sisters had made at Christmas, when I told them I’d got an audition for Britain’s Got Talent, kept repeating in my head.
“Well, don’t be surprised if you don’t get through”.
“Thanks for your faith in me. Smashing people, you!” ©

@@colinwynne5008 Thanks, bro! I'm not Susan, but we have much in common. I'm a huge fan of her talent. She is the one and only.
The BEST moment in tv history!
I came back to watch this again after many years.
Beautiful person and singer... Nobody will forget this touching performance ❤️🥺
I listen to this about 3-4 times a week. I’ve had nothing but tears in my life the last 2 years since my beloved husband died. But when I listen to the beauty of an angel’s voice my tears dry. And I remember, I LIVED the dream for 38 years. Susan brings my beautiful memories back.
❤
You will see him again. But not yet. Feel the same about my dad. He was my most important supporter and best friend. But I will see him again. Just gotta be patient and live life. Chin up. We gotta keep on keeping on.
How’re you and your lovely family doing over there??
❤
What's crazy is that she absolutely killed it and then was really shocked each time they voted 'yes'. What a humble and innocent soul she is!
I never get tired of watching this. She's an angel.
I have never had my breath taken away until this. I have listened to this more than 50 times, Just because it feels so wonderful! What a voice.
Just re-visited this after seeing Susan on 2023 BGT and hearing that she's recently had a stroke, bless her, and I'm in bits. Glad I'm on my own here, I got so emotional seeing and remembering how she brought the house down with her amazing voice. You're a legend Susan and you were robbed in the final. You still went on to have the amazing musical career that you dreamed of and I'm wishing you good health and happiness for the future. Love you to bits 💞💞💞
All these years later, I have chills hearing her sing. To think that so many people made fun of her, she truly is a gem and a legend!
I saw it live. Still do too!
Amen!!!
She is the one responsible for all the judges now being more careful about the words they say and not taking people at face value like they used to in the past.
@@theghost6412 yes true
@@semoneg2826 it makes me wonder how many people they inadvertantly sabotaged by saying incredibly hurtful things and upsetting the contestents to the point that they couldnt perform at all.
For some reasons, every time I watch this vid, my tears will start when she Susan starts singing. Her voice is truly angelic. Amidst all the side glances and dismissive looks from all those in the audience and on the panel, she proves her so dead wrong. Fourteen years on, I'm still standing on her side. I hope her dreams can keep living.
Watching after Norman Finkelstein interview with Piers )
This made me cry, one more blow for the little person, she was magic, I used to tell all my students if someone said you can't then politely ask why not, and go and prove them wrong, and if you fall stand up and go again and never stop. Well do e Susan.
She’s so modest and sweet. I’m so glad Simon took her under his wing and guided her through some rough spots. She’s wonderful.
Me too. In tears every time I watch this.
When ever I hear this. Never ever get old
Yeah same so sad she passed away
@@pandaghostworld Really? Can't find any info on that.

My favorite thing is when there’s a pause in the music and she smiles and nods like “how you like them apples.”
Never judge a book by its cover! Thanks Susan Boyle for your magnificent rendition of the song. The lyrics hit home

Hi Lesa❤
hello Lesa how are you doing today??

This woman taught so many a lesson that night... One of my favorite performances ever.
I know everybody must of felt foolish for making fun of her. When she opened her mouth she delivered magic and a true star was born.
Plain looking woman stands up in front of world and releases angels into air
10 years now and I still come back for inspiration. I'll never forget this and I still cry.
Same. Tears every single time.
Everytime I watch this it brings tears to my eyes! She never had it easy and walking out there was proof of that, but if anyone is an Overcomer , it is Susan Boyle!! ♥
Amen!
Brings tears yo everyones eyes.
Sadly we need her spirt in the ukrtaine and in the U, S,

She deserves the world
All these years later I still watch her gift and laugh and enjoy how stunned everyone was. She was a blessing then and still is.
Hello Pamela, How are you doing?
this was the most best and most memorable winner ever.
She didn’t win
@@ryansaunders9530 no. And can you remember whom did? They conquered the world, didn't they?
yea @@normadesmond6017 I think diversity deserved to win Susan Boyle had lost the plot by the time the final came around.it had all got a bit to much for her.
Hello dear, how are you doing, how is life over there?
She is blessed with a most beautiful voice!
And I can't believe only 13k have like and 185 and liked your comment....she was FUCKING brilliant. Susan Boyle HUMBLED EVERYONE there that night. Truly the best under dog of any IDOL SHOW. She truly deserved to shine in this life 💛💚💙🩵💜🩷🧡❤
She's amazing but Diversity have also done exceptionally well!
To think that a near-enough middle-aged woman would sing to her heart's content is an extraordinary dream come true. She loves musicals, cats and not to mention being a proud Scot.
She brought the whole arena to the roof and blew everyone away. Yes, she didn't win BGT but she is one talent that must never be ignored.
