Burns Night | Address to a Haggis

At a traditional Burns Supper on the 25 January in Scotland, the haggis is carried into the dining room by the chef on a silver platter, led by a bagpiper. The haggis is then 'addressed' before being portioned and eaten.

What a delivery indeed.
That's the first time I've seen a piper address the haggis.

I had the pleasure of piping the Haggis into a beautiful room in the St George's Hotel in Llandudno Wales. The Address to the Haggis was given by an Amazing Man, an ex Service Soldier. Who was blinded during an assault. I was so impressed that I had to introduce myself to him and thank him for such a wonderful rendition of the poem. This is someone I will never forget.

I worked at one Burns night when the haggis was stabbed and the poor addressee had successfully punctured a bubble of fat just below the surface which proceeded to project forth towards the ceiling and down on everyone at the top table 😂
Now that was memorable.

The piper has good fingers and interpretation. Delivery of the "Address" was theatrical, but "nae sae bad".
