- Today we're back at Jackie & Jessie's home to declutter their small kitchen. It's tough when you're limited on space, but by doing a big declutter and adding back in some organization, this small kitchen functions SO much better!

As others have commented, I love that this was a ârealâ kitchen, in the sense that itâs not brand new, itâs about what most of us have, generally speaking. This is probably THE most helpful kitchen video Iâve seen. Thank you for allowing us into your home!
Totally agree!
Yes!! Thank you Jackie & Jesse!
Yes! It's so good to see a kitchen that may be similar to what viewers have! They did such a nice job of decluttering!
Yes, exactly what I was gonna write! We live in a 1960s fixed upper. We've been updating over the last 5 years but with baby number 6 due next week and a cash only renovation budget we haven't gotten to touch the kitchen. Old cabinets, weird layout. I relate to this video so much!
I have a rental with my hubby and our kitchen is small and not very nice looking.
Thank you Jackie and Jesse. It is so generous of you to open your home to us, so we can all learn, and make our spaces function and feel better.
How cute are Jackie and Jessie! :) Such a nice visit and I love how real this feels. Not a gigantic, new and super fancy kitchen but something normal. Probably what so many people have at home. Love it! :)
Yes and not having a pantry. Most people don't, so when there's a closet or pantry in the kitchen, it's like well okay but where do I put all of this stuff if I only have a kitchen cabinets lol
@@shaunadumelle1624 Not many houses in the UK have a pantry, so have to store food in cupboards.
@@shaunadumelle1624 I keep only what I need for the short term in the cabinets, like Dawn does. I have a couple shelves in the basement for overflow such as jars with sauce that we canned. It also helps to have an extra freezer downstairs.
@@julietannOsfan1972 we have essentially nothing, and empty cabinets, but we added a large Rubbermaid "pantry" just for food because I dislike having food squished in with our kitchen stuff. Thankfully we are able to do that.
Please keep this series going!! I love to see "real" decluttering!!
Hello Annie
I love that these are just normal people that you are going to see. Not with huge fancy houses with top of the line everything. Just the average Joe like alot of us. :)
Hello Becky
Older (and usually smaller) kitchens are much more relatable because thats what most people have or have had the majority of their lives. đ
Jackie & Jessie, thank you for being willing to share with us. There was a realism about that video that makes it easy to identify with. Definitely going to add working in my kitchen to my to-do list of spaces.
Yes thank you!
I just have to share that Monday night I was watching you on Organized HQ, and my 4 1/2 year old came into the room and she said, "There's Dawn! Where's Tom?" (She might be his youngest fan đ )We love you, and I obviously watch your channel and the Take Your House Back course faithfully!
How sweet!
Oh, I hope Tom gives a shootout to his youngest fan!!
I really appreciate other families sharing with us as they solve their household organization. Thank you Jessie and Jackie!
"small kitchens are tough" I laughed so hard when I saw how big that kitchen is. One day I wanna have a kitchen that small lol. I love these videos tho.
Right! đ
Same! đ€Ł
I don't even have enough cabinets in order to store pots and pans. I would've if the former owners hadn't put in a dishwasher, but I prefer having the dishwasher.
I guess itâs all relative, isnât it?
I think it's about how the kitchen iz set up and what we own. I've had smaller but more efficient kitchens. Currently I have to lay on the floor to get into the deep corner lower cabinets. I have a ton of cabinet space but its not set up to be productive!
Without being too "gushy"...I have been inspired by you and your videos to absolutely purge! 11 years of clutter, collecting and just too busy to get at it...gone in five days! I prepped for about a month, putting things in totes, bags and piles and rented a roll off. The day it came I just started tossing. This weekend I paint my new studio that I've made room for in the "storage" room. I didn't realize how stressed the inventory was making me and how much I can breathe now and have room for what serves me and moves me forward. Thank you for being there at the right time when I needed the inspiration. I wish I could send you pictures. It's truly an OMG! before and after.
That kitchen HUGE compaired to mine.
x2
I know, right? Mine is like half the size.
I started watching this while emptying the dishwasher. Now I'm taking things out that I haven't used in a year and putting into my donate pile. đ€Ł
I donât want a dramatic before & afterâŠI want people to have a space that functions. Thatâs the best part, to see someone make their space work better for them. The Home Edit are just fun to watchâŠbut not usually practical đ
totally agree!
For me the best part was transforming the top of the fridge!
Taking the stuff away to expose the glass door and styling the inside made such a difference!
It looks purposeful and sets the tone for the whole kitchen!
Nice job!
One thing I used in those deep cupboards like they have is puck lights. It was so easy to see things towards the back when I turned them on.
I see them at estate sales all the time for pennies on the dollar and can never think of what to do with them. Now you've given me a great idea.
That was a game changer for my deep cabinet. I found stuff that hadn't been touched or used in eons. Remember flan pans???? I like that the touch light came with a sticky pad. No drilling. Couldn't see to drill in there anyway.
Jessie offering to let Dawn try to pull the food storage out of his hands for dramatics totally cracked me up.
These home visit videos are quickly becoming my new favorite!! Thank you, Jackie & Jessie for letting us learn with you guys!
Love this series going into peoples home that havenât already been decluttering for awhile. And I love the questioning and conversation helping them to make choices on their own.
This is so awesome!!! Seeing Tom join in on this new venture is heartwarming â€ïž
Hello Mary đ
I could feel the difference - it really did come through in the video. The before was stressful, the after was peaceful. And it was clear that this couple will be able to easily return to that peace whenever they need to.
Love this! So relatable. Someone with a 3000 square foot home and a massive kitchen have a lot more room to make things look decluttered. This is REAL. đ
Hello Ashley
This was absolutely a wonderful video. Such a rekaxed and laid back atmosphere, showing that decluttering can be fun and no stress. (When Jesse made rhe comment about pulling the container out of his hands I imagined a Jerry Springer-like "Dramatic Decluttering" reality TV show. It just proves that we can be lighthearted about letting go of our things. So many people have such a hard time with it). I love how everyone worked as a team to make a space where they were struggling into one that was much more functional. I love the bin drawer idea! Please keep these videos coming. Many blessings to all. â€ïž
WOW!!!! Looks SO MUCH BETTER! And, how brave, Jesse and Jackie to be willing to allow the world to learn from you! We all have our things we are working on!
This felt the most realistic example of sorting an average kitchen. Thank you for sharing.
You both did an amazing job on this little kitchen. Your lack of judgement, sense of humor and common sense puts people at ease and helps them make decisions that have been difficult for them. You rock! I see a TV show in your future. The one recommendation I would make is to head on over to a YT channel called Think Media for simple fixes and suggestions for lighting and filming with minimal/basic equipment. I've learned so much from that channel and it helps that it doesn't involve going out and buying a bunch of expensive equipment. Lighting is always one of the things we don't think about when filming because we're so intent on getting the content that we don't realize any lighting issues until we go to edit. Your channel is one of the few I really look forward to watching every week. You are such a blessing to so many people. Bless you for spreading the love in such an honest and usable way. Often we think that 'spreading the word' involves sermons and preaching when in fact the most usable and relatable way to reach people is by doing things in loving ways. You truly do 'walk your talk'. đ
When we moved into our current house the first thing I made handy husband do was build and install pull out shelves in all our base cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms, best thing we did for making everything easily accessible. Now I'm 72 and can't imagine trying to access things pushed to the back of lower cabinets.
This indeed is a life changer. I wish I had all pull out drawers. Can I borrow your husband?
Such a great idea. I'm only 41 and already struggle with low cabinets. So hard to get up off the floor!
Iâm 72 too. We had pull-outs in our former kitchen too, and I plan them for our new (to us) house. You have me thinking about putting them in the bathrooms, too!
We had them put in our new kitchen a few years ago, future proofing for when I'm old. Wouldn't be without them!
I think I just forgot that was even an option. It's not expensive or difficult to install them. Thanks for the reminder!
This âreal lifeâ kitchen make over was great. So many of the houses in my area are vintage 1950, with the same obstacles that this one has. Your suggestions to put pull out drawer-baskets on some of the shelves, solved such a problem.
My small apartment kitchen has a tiny area for pots and pansâŠ. And lids! I repurposed a slide out drawer from Walmart, put the pots and pans on top, lids in the drawer and still have room for the toaster next to it. It functions so well, thanks to your inspiration. Thank you! The tiny shelf above holds my crockpot and soup pot. Works great. Yes I have decluttered food storage containers, but could do more. I will, I promise!
This is sooooo much more helpful than videos showing gorgeous all-white kitchens where the âorganizingâ is unpacking everything into coordinating containers. This couple did awesome and this totally reminded me of my husband and I trying to get our home under control. Loving the realism.
When my daughter came to help me declutter, I was surprised to find out that I had 12 spatulas. I cut down to 4 and then 6 months later cut down to 2. My local thrift shop has really benefitted from me decluttering, which is great because they use their profits to run a large food pantry. Hope you do more of these videos helping others to declutter.
Only an American would call that kitchen small đ And I say that in the most loving way. My kitchen is considered normal sized here in Sweden and is half the size.
The breaking up of sets is something I still struggle with, after eight years of decluttering and six years of minimalism. It just feels forbidden đ Before I saw Dawn talking about it a few months ago it hadnât even really crossed my mind that youâre⊠well⊠allowed! đ
So true, in Germany this kitchen would be considered at least a normal size đ But in the USA almost EVERYTHING ist bigger. đ
@@sinaaaa123 my German kitchen is 1/3 of this "small" US one!!!
As a Dutchie living in Germany I can confirm that this is not a small kitchen to "our" standards. đđ
Iâm in the US and my kitchen is nowhere near this size, mine is much smaller! Itâs all relative đ
I am from Germany and absolutely agree :)
Dawn is so gentle with her suggestions. Lol. I love her personality.
Iâm really enjoying these videos of you helping regular peeps who arenât already minimalists and donât necessarily have super strong decluttering muscles yet. I hope you keep doing this, but I wish I lived closer so you could help me!! Lol
Remember those deep dark corner cabinets? The way our kitchen was built, the âdesignerâ just ignored/deleted that space by putting in cabinets thar walled it off and out of the kitchen entirelyâŠand therefore our kitchen is actually MUCH smaller than you would think. Just wishing right now for energy and cash to work with the strange layout and function to make what looks like usable space into actual usable space.
Really enjoyed the video and truly appreciate you and the service you are providing to individuals as well as to your gazillion subscribers, etc. You two really are making an impact, far wider than you could have ever supposed. Thank you so much, and blessings to you and your family (including extended).
A kitchen can have all of the counters cleaned off and it looks good, but when you start working in it and you open a cabinet and you have to rummage around in it to find something, it gets frustrating. Perhaps the most "dramatic change" will come mostly to this family as they function in their newly simplified kitchen. I saw a really nice change. With all of the unused items gone, the space was much more peaceful. Cleaning off the top of the refrigerator and having a cute, nicely decorated area behind the glass door cabinet made a big difference in that area. Great job Dawn, Jacquie and Jesse!
What a nice couple. Amazing how just a few tweaks and donations make a more inviting space.
Jackie and Jesse, thank you for letting us in on your declutter. It took me YEARS to finally get rid of my excess stuff, but it is so freeing and easier to function. I've also learned to put all LIKE items together so I always know what I have.
I haven't read all the comments but thought it was funny when Dawn said: "What?! Pumpkin?! I'll take those!" It made her so happy lol!
That and the frat house comment. Hilarious!
So we bought a house that was built in 1949. Our old house had a remodeled kitchen that had a ton of cabinet space...we had started simplifying before the move but I literally had to make myself a plan and stick to it because I didn't want Our new kitchen to feel cramped and not functional. The videos and guidelines have really helped. I also found that by simplifying things it made it easier for my husband to help put things away...win win.
When you opened that top cabinet and found MORE food storage! đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł I can SO relate!
I love seeing two people with COMPLETELY different clutter styles than myself (I am a bee) so ruthlessly get rid of their stuff! I have a bee organization style - I like FUNCTIONAL open storage and I don't mind the visual clutter of art and plants and stuff, but realistically I am a definite micro organizer, sometimes almost to the extreme. I can be quite ruthless about getting rid of useless items, but I tend to want to hold onto things that I think serve a PURPOSE (even if I haven't used it in a year, I'm like "well.. I MIGHT need that")
So watching a ladybug and a cricket get rid of things that they may even use later is fascinating to me!
I had to laugh at the term "small kitchen" here... my current kitchen is about half that size, which means half the cabinet space. I've had to get realllly ruthless AND creative with my storage. I have two overhead cabinets, two drawers, and two under cabinets, plus a tiny little "pantry" closet about the size of a small bookshelf. ETA: Thank you so much Jessie, for letting us into your kitchen so Dawn could work her magic!
Same here...small apartment & kitchen half the size. I appreciated this video though!â
Yes, this kitchen seems huge to me, with so much storage! I have one and a half cupboards for food, one and a half cupboards for dishes and two lower cupboards for kitchen gadgets, and two drawers! Itâs so challenging đ„
Hey hi Dawn .. I have started decluttering since couple of months .. you remember in some video u mentioned that ur neighbours visited you and were saying our house is bigger than thiers .. I got the same feedback from my neighbour who actually has bigger house than us for sure. They also complimented to neat n tidy .. I was so happy and first thing came in my mind was you .. thank you sooooo much..
I stick to only glass containers and only round ones that stack nicely with their lids on. :) Every time i throw away a CoolWhip container I think of my grandma and the value she placed on them- she died with about 200 of them in her tiny kitchen!
That was my Mom, too! So many storage containers from old margarine tubs.
I have hard time of letting go of glass jars: from coffee or other preserves. I always think of reusing them. They made so perfectly. So much resources spent on their production. Too bad we cannot return them to store. I am using them all the time
How sweet and thrifty.
And trying to find the actual margarine between all the leftovers in margarine containers! đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Funny, I only use the glass square containers for the same reason.
I love seeing real folks in real homes. Thanks to them for allowing us to take a peek and learn!
You have a lot of really great videos, but from the very get-go, this one really made me cheer. Youâre helping this very sincere couple. I donât care if you go all over the country,or just around the corner, youâre helping others. I love to watch Tom and you interact his TV persona,at least looks like heâs smart and sweet and very devoted to your family. Heâs hot, too. Not bad for a farm boy. Gotta love a man who helps you achieve your dreams. And, Dawn, you are achieving this dream you could tell these folks were so appreciative. The way it was filmed and the editing was spot on this video is definitely HGTV worthy. Congrats!
Thank you Jesse and Jackie! The real kitchen, the real house, the real stuff.
I love this series! Itâs so helpful. Thank you to the families that are allowing us in their homes. I hope you continue doing this. â€ïž
I have been so enjoying these sessions when you go to peopleâs homes and help them make sense of their living space although it kinda feels like youâre performing surgery!
Dawn, watching this video, I did feel like it does feel better to be in that kitchen even though it doesn't look like a Pinterest kitchen. It's still a nice kitchen though. Sometimes we think we need to remodel to Pinterest standard when what we really need or want is function. The glass cabinets are charming and just by storing the right items in them makes a statement. Loved this video and your clients seemed so nice to work with.
Amen! I wholeheartedly agree!
An idea . . . keep the storage containers ON a baking sheet and you can pull it out like a drawer. I also do this in my refrigerator. It works perfectly, for me, for yogurt containers, applesauce, and other smaller items. I am so glad I found "The Minimal Mom". Thank you for all your help and inspiration.
Jackie and Jesse, thanks for your honest home declutter! I did a major overhaul this past spring (with all the minimalist/declutter) and it was like the kitchen could âbreatheâ! We also have those awkward corner cupboards, and I now store the toaster and coffee maker down there! Our kitchen quarantine bin is storage for when my kids get a first apartment, and are starting from scratch!
There are a lot of people that would not call this a small kitchen. However, the principles of space, time, and energy apply, no matter what size kitchen you have. This was a great video.
It must feel so much lighter in their house with all the toys and extra kitchen clutter gone. Quality not quantity is my new mantra.
I think you are really so good at this Dawn. You have vision and insight and the way you talk is calm, respectful and sincere. Every time a watch one of your videos Iâm so glad Iâve found you đđ»đ»
I just took 5 boxes to donation center. This was ALL stuff that had been in âquarantineâ. I had to remind myself that I had not used any of this for months, maybe even years. It was so weird and mildly hard. I had a few chats with myself. đ
Thank you for doing these in home segments. So very helpful! Thank you to these guys for being open to sharing with us! đ
As a cricket, I'm all about functionality! I loved this transformation. Loved. Yes, yes, yes with the less inventory and the basket drawers and the accessible cupboard instead of leaving things out and the keeping the books elsewhere! Very nice.
I bought a refrigerator without water and ice in the door because I didn't want that visual clutter. Someone just sent me a fridge magnet from his trip to Belgium. Fortunately, he doesn't live here and will never know I'm NOT putting it on my fridge. (I did send him a nice thank you note, though.)
I'm with you with the no ice and water dispenser on the fridge.
@@nancycerreta5629 That's also just one more thing to break a week after the warranty expires, too, lol!
Oh how I wish I could borrow you! I just sold my house in AZ that I havenât lived in since March 2020, headed down there from Alaska tonight to purge and pack. Itâs overwhelming, thank you for all the motivation and tips on your channel.
Thank you AGAIN for showing us the real decluttering going on and not some "glossy" video that cuts & clips just to show the end product (cabinets) looking organized and pristine. The before, during and after is very helpful because it looks like mine and not a magazine cover. Dawn & Tom you guys are the best, thank you for the "cut-ins" that explain both of your thoughts and the transitions that are taking place. A wonderful, applicable decluttering video, love this new approach with real folks. And I don't mind seeing the cameras it shows real life and not some fancy video crew making sure the equipment is out of sight. Kudos : D
My last house was a little 1950âs split level with a tiny 10x11 kitchen. That house taught me so much about how much I really needed in order to cook meals, how to meal plan and shop once a week for a tiny pantry, 5 containers was the right number and when we ran out, it was leftover night, and there are very few single use tools that canât be accomplished with a knife. It also helped me pair down to just the things that make me happy and I love.
Had a HUGE aha moment as I watched this today! I fight cooling racks constantly in a stand up rack. I use them frequently and realized there was room for them in my drawer under the oven on top of cookie sheets! Thank you for all the inspiration!
And now I am headed to our pantry to finish up the reorganization in there that I started yesterday. I'm excited because I recently found some beautiful OLD jars that belonged to my mother-in-law that I will be using in there.
When I clean out my pantry- I hate throwing food away. I will plan a weeks worth of meals and use up the odd food.
Same. I put the food I need to use on a counter and meal plan around it. It doesn't get thrown away.
Donate or eat! đ
Very cool. I can understand what you mean, but I think we were able to see that things are a lot better. It looked very nice. This is really helpful, because it shows what you can do with an older kitchen, a normal kitchen. This is a lot more realistic. What do you do with what you have? :) Thanks.
Great job! So much of the "after" is a feeling! And i felt that sense of lowering stress and increase of calm. Brave homeowners! I am not sure i could empty my cabinets completely ! Thank you for sharing :)
Hello Caroline.
Hook on the inside of the cupboard door for oven mitts
Dawn, your kitchen decluttering/organizing tips are my favorite! The kitchen is where I spend the bulk of my time and it needs to function efficiently so I don't lose my mind. For 13 yrs I had a kitchen about half the size of Jackie and Jessie's, and added 5 children to our family during that time. You articulate so many of the lessons I learned during those 13 years but didn't know how to explain.
Brilliant insight ahead! What we really need are food "storage containers" that have a nice aesthetic AND can function as dinnerware. Now you designers watching, go to the drawing board. Made if glass with minimal plastic/silicon involved in lid/cover mechanism. Some folks already use canning jars (beverages in particular) but food usually gets dumped into plate or bowl. So a flatter surface like a deep pasta dish. The only lids that work for those that I've seen are stretch silicon which may limit amount allowed on plate. Thinking aloud here. Any other ideas? My thought is no separate dinnerware and separate food storage but a new unit that works for both purposes.
I have done exactly what you suggest, not as pretty as your idea but I serve meals in round (easier to wash) storage containers, then just pop the simple lid on and refrigerate the leftovers. Iâm 78 years old and just started this a few months ago. Love it. Less inventory. I no longer dread dealing with leftovers. Donna
Hate to break it to ya, but leftovers are usually a smidgen of the amount on the plate or in the bowl you ate from. Depends upon how many servings are needed for the meal. I do like the idea of it, and wouldn't mind trying it while the dishes sit in quarantine. Maybe sooner than later. Thanks for your motivation.
@@MikeyDonna Donna, my only concern with what you're doing is that bacteria may be intoduced by refrigerating what you can't finish eating at one sitting, so be en guard for changes before you eat a forkful of green fuzz!
That aside I use rectangular 3C pyrex for meal prep which j u s t about fit the 6qt instantpot and work great in fridge/freezer, about the right size for a portion plus a side. However, they need a sort of cradle to actually eat out of since the container gets super hot, I have to use special finger gloves to pick them up out of IP, too.
But I do like your idea to use the rounds, definitely easier to wash and the lids have no moving parts and are a single piece with no extra crevices to get cruddy.
Now to ny eye, they need a sort of charger/cradle to make table ready to give it a shape you can easily hold the rim of?
Or, am I just being extra?
My grandma has old "frozen tv dinner" plates, rectangular, with a 1/2" lip, and with 1" tall lids that pop onto the top of the plate (4.5x8"?). They are plastic. So, a remake of that would be cool.
After reading other comments, I remembered seeing a similar container at Target. đŻ
Our kitchen is smaller than that, and I love it. lol A small kitchen helps keep us in check of what we actually use. Iâll admit that our small appliances are now stored in the laundry room. The upper cabinets we took out from our kitchen fit in the laundry room perfectly. And it took care of the need for storage for other miscellaneous things. And now our blind corner is almost empty. We can easily access our plastic food containers now. I love seeing how others utilize their small spaces. Even if theyâre not minimal like you! Iâd consider myself a minimalist. Just not as minimal as you Dawn. lol
The bins in cabinets tip is sooo useful! Our kitchen has these skinny, but deep cabinets beside the refrigerator that serve as our pantry. I started grouping like items together and using bins and it has been life changing! I just refined some of the categories and added labels last night. No more losing things in the back of them! And I only had two old box mixes that had moved with us and were now out of date!
Yay for reducing waste and making our space easy to use!
I love that you and Tom are doing this together!
I'm going through a kitchen remodel and watching your videos has inspired me so much. Trying to simplify our kitchen tools/cookware as much as possible. Letting him of the things I never use. Donating the rest. It feels so good.
Mine keeps getting better and better! The food storage with the lids on makes me happy every time I go in that drawer! đđđđđđđ
I decluttered our kitchen last yr & want to go through it again to get rid of even more to get things up off my counters. Great video Dawn & Tom! ;0)
Me too! I got rid of a lot but Iâm inspired to find more things that get very little use!
@@susanpeterson9947 I've taken two large boxes for donation filled with "storage containers." The only thing they were storing was space! I love the quarantine idea!!
I would love to see Tom getting involved more and adding better storage options, doing slight cosmetic improvements (like how u said under mount lighting or updating kitchen slightly). I was looking at some of those cabinets and thinking tom could add shelves to wasted spaces or thinking it would be nice if Tom could build them a pantry. I love seeing these series though! Love your channel!
Even just making simple risers for spice bottles could help this couple jmho
Same cupboards and handles that I have. Although they have more cupboards than I do there are similarities. So helpful to see how the obstacles were handed. Thank you.
I love these labours of love you guys do. You can tell that the folks are comfortable with you and there is no shaming. Keep up the good work both of you. Love from Vancouver, British Columbia!
Dear Jackie and Jessie,
I really like your kitchen, wooden floor and furniture always looks like home for me. In my kitchen I swapped the cupboard door knobs and drawer knobs for white vintage porcelain ones, which makes my kitchen look kind of different.
I even prefer fake drawers to real ones because I can take the container out to search for small items or to clean it.
Have a nice late-summer weekend!
I agree what you said about fake drawers. I think they are more economical than real ones. Lastly, real ones are easier to use, they take up more space and result in less storage. There are pros and cons. By the way, I have a small kitchen and planning a remodel, Iâve been thinking about the pull out drawers/containers.
Looks so much better and you can still get a sense of âfeelâ
Dawn, It is so helpful going through someone's home and watching them make decisions. Wow!!! This video hit the mark for me. Thank you Tom for your great camera work. Elizabeth
Hello Elizabeth đ
RV full timer here. Very limited on drawer, cabinet, and counter space. Also weird depths and heights of the cabinets. Lots of wasted space. I am always looking for the perfect basket or bin to make my life easier. Hate visual clutter and the Hermoine Granger magic bag/bin/basket to hide items doesnât seem to exist for me. Ha
I use Command hooks inside my lower (and sometimes upper) kitchen doors to hang items like flat graters, measuring cups/spoons, and potholders. Typically so much unused space!
Oh great idea thanks!
We have a similar 1960s kitchen with cabinets like this! So hard on limited space but definitely makes you think creatively and minimize.
Love this series!! Feel like I'm watching a show and a new episode comes out every Friday :)
Because lower cupboards in the kitchen are pretty dark, painting the insides of the cabinets white would help too.
Jackie and Jessie did an amazing job letting go and quarantining items!! Looks fantastic!
What a lovely couple.
Our house is less than 500 square feet total - so this kitchen is HUGE for us! And ⊠everything we use and need fits perfectly fine in our small but treasured space.
Dawn, great job! Please do an efficiency apartment kitchen! That is what I am dealing with.
Those bin "drawers" are going to be a game changer in my tiny kitchen! Thank you so much for all the ideas!
Dawn, I really enjoyed watching you declutter this small space. I really think Jesse needed the push to get rid of some of that stuff. I really do not think he will be going back to the quarantine box for anything. I think he will realize he doesn't need all that stuff and it will feel a lot better being able to find what he uses on a regular basis. Great job!
I got about halfway into this video and actually got up and started decluttering some of my kitchen items. It is so crazy to me because I have been doing this downsizing thing for years, but "all of a sudden" I found five things I could easily donate. Thanks for the constant motivation, and thanks to your friends for sharing their journey.
I wonder how many full food storage containers they had in the fridge on top of the ones stored in the cabinet. We're going to be downsizing to an apartment size fridge, and I'm going to pare down the containers to only what will comfortably fit in there, and a couple of plastic containers that will fit in a lunchbox.
I thought that too, wonder if they had already cleaned it out.
Thank you Jackie & Jessie for allowing us to see the real deal. I have been stuffing my cabinets full to the point I have 2 extra shelf units to store staples. Even created cute curtain to hide them. We are all proud of you. I am going through my shelves again on Monday.
Those Dollar Store stick-on puck lights are amazing for under counters.
It's a real kitchen dealing with what the rest of us deal with... Too much inventory in a small space. Great ideas today Dawn.
I can do my own kitchen, but would find it difficult to do anyone elseâs. Iâd open such a can of worms, before theyâd know it Iâd have their entire home all kinds of rearranged. Good job Dawn and Tom!đ
This was a nice video. New to your channel and enjoyed watching it.
One thing that does bug me (and not just from this video, but from ALL the "small kitchen" organization videos I've seen) that kitchen isn't really small. It actually has a decent amount of cabinet space, it just wasn't being used efficiently.
I'd LOVE to see a video of an actual small kitchen organization if someone reaches out to you to do theirs đ
