I just watched the livestream (well... the replay of it), I’m so excited for the new products, even though they cost more the time saved in some workflows is an actual good investment!
This is awesome. I was talking to a co-worker about doing this exact same thing using an ATEM and several computers running OBS and something like Skype. This makes much more sense.
These guys are one of the most innovative companies I’ve seen, always innovating and creating products or enhancements, and I love that the President of the company is the one actually doing the demos.
HI Aaron, Thanks for the update on the ever better newest ATEM Mini. Nice they are still squeezing more into this form factor. The Streaming Bridge is a nice gadget too, I can see too many uses for it. Super for bringing in remote guests! I am impressed how they keep stepping up. The multicam project directly into Resolve is pretty sweet. What will they come up with next?

Thanks for the lowdown! Perfect time to launch the device except you can't flipping well buy them anywhere in the UK! I have been scrounging the internet everywhere. Either out of stock, back order, pre order etc.
They sold it to me. The features I was missing from the Pro are finally here. I was debating between the Sling Studio and ATEM MP, so the ISO is a no-brainer to me. Looks like Resolve integration will be really excellent as well. I've heard the Sling Studio's Adobe Premiere integration was sketch and not always reliable. Man, Blackmagic is killing it!
Was about to buy the pro, noticed the price had dropped dramatically.... I knew something was coming! So glad I hesitated.

I can think of some really useful possible alternate applications for those extra encoders in the ATEM Mini Pro ISO which have nothing to do with recording . . .
Just pre-ordered the stream bridge. For my use case it will be predominantly so I can run the HDMI out of it into my LiveU Solo for locations that don't have fantastic internet so I can use my bonded connection as opposed to one single connection. Currently my only option is to use the HDMI on the mini pro which isn't idea because then I loose my MV! Looking forward to it!

If you connect the Canon 700d or mirror the iPhone, the top, bottom, left, and right are cut off little by little.

Hi Aaron, do you know why, when I connect my bmpcc 6k cameras to the switcher (ISO version), they change settings? At this point I've disable the camera control but would like to use it without having to reset the settings every time. Any ideas? Thanks

What are you going to do with your old atem mini?
It’ll be interesting to see if you have to set up port address translation on the edge firewall device on the receiving/streaming bridge side of an connection across the internet. Particularly if you have more than 1 streaming bridge.
It looks like it might have STUN support to get thru firewalls. But also forwarding the port should work as well. Definitely will be trying this out!

Is it possible to stream from the ATEM Pro via a local network in to the internet to youtube, zoom, facebook live, etc. and connect this stream with the ATEM Streaming Bridge in the local network at the same time? So people can watch the stream on the internet and others can watch the stream in the local network without using the internet.
Great features, but what I really wanted was an ON/OFF button and integrated WiFi for cable-free connection to the Software Control app on any networked computer. I am also hoping the next software upgrade allows toggling of stills in the preview screen directly from the ATEM. I do worry that Black Magic is churning out new models too fast, you pre-order one model, then by the time it arrives a new model is announced with features you wish you had waited for. I realise Black Magic should be praised for pushing the envelope at a rapid pace, but it makes me very apprehensive about taking the leap on an upgrade.

Great video! Question: does this mean I can record all the 4 camera angles separately to hard drive? In what format? What’s the highest quality? Also what speed hard drive would you need to record 4-5 streams simultaneously? I stream at 30fps in 1080 x 4 cameras. If you can record all 4 cameras separately and also the edited feed that goes live on Facebook at the same time (5th feed) then that would be amazing. How much hard drive space will we need for 5 video feeds and what speed to capture all of them? Seems like it needs to be pretty fast right?
Depends on the encoding settings but shouldn’t be too bad. If all feeds record at 100mbps (Megabits) which is reasonably high for 1080, that’s 62.5MBps(Megabytes) and a 5400 spinning drive can do on average about 100MBps

there's no internal storage, it records to external USB drives!

Hi Aaron, love your videos they're a great help. I'm curious about the BRIDGE- do you think this would allow someone to remote control another ATEM Mini remotely? Either via the Software control or the panel perhaps? I'm interested in controlling a mate's setup from a remote location while he performs.. Is that possible do you think? I get how this can be an OUTPUT from on Atem Mini to another location, but keen to CONTROL an ATEM from another location.. cheers!
They didn't mention anything about that, and I'm struggling to see how that would be possible with this device. There's a few different ways to remote control an ATEM but they all involve various networking tricks.
Any chance it can create sync files for final cut pro x?
Not natively, but I'm sure something can convert a resolve project to FCPX!

It can't, sorry! The USB port can do only one or the other, not both.
Aaron Parecki bummer! If only we could simultaneously record and capture and if it also had an aux output for event projections this would be a perfect product for our needs.
Ok - so do we think that the stream bridge will also be able to replace the Magewell H.264 to HDMI Pro Convert? This is how the PTZ Optics cameras’ video feed that I’m literally just about to install in my auditorium are going to get to my (just ordered) BlackMagic system.
I'm crossing my fingers that the Stream Bridge is a generic RTMP receiver and can be used with any device! Will definitely test that out!
Might seem a stupid question but does the bridge carry audio? If not it’s going to be a royal pain in the proverbial trying to sync up the audio with that level of latency
I think it did carry program audio.

Having to choose between Program or MultiView on the base unit sounds like a major design blunder. Now by adding the Bridge, it seems we can now get that second HDMI out (Program only?).
You mentioned a delay - if the Bridge is next to the Pro conected via ethernet, is there still a delay? If projecting a speaker at an event onto the screen, a delay would be very disturbing
Also - if using the Bridge for that second HDMI, it seems we lose the ability to stream directly from the Pro (since the ethernet port is now used for the Bridge).
Another clumsy trade-off off needed resources!!
Unicast. So usb to pc for streaming with obs etc. if using ether port to bridge. Delay seems inherent.
Does anyone know if the streaming bridge will take a feed from any h.264 streaming source with the proper key? (I am thinking vMix)

yeah absolutely! Check out their announcement video, Grant plugged the bridge into the atem mini directly and the latency was pretty low!

no. RTMP is realy diverent from NDI. NDI is a
competitor to SDI. they are Realtime. RTMP is just for broadcast.
i hope bmd creates a hardware RTMP encoder with SDI in for professional setups.
But WHEN is the Streaming Bridge available? They said released in August (now Oct), and all the sites say coming SOON! 🤷🏻♂️
What I can't determine is can you stream to your streaming service from the ATEM Mini Pro and stream to the new ATEM Streaming Bridge simultaneously? The would solve my problem with trying to send the program to a stream and have monitors in overflow areas.
Looks like it can still stream to only one place at a time, so either CZcams or the Streaming Bridge but not both.

It records them to the drive you attach via USB-C. It records the same h.264 format that it streams at, so plenty of recording time on pretty much any drive.
Delicate questions from one professional to another professional:
Is it possible to stream from LiveU solo + via RMTP to Atem Streming brige?
Create MXF file from Atem streamingbrig, find power key and RMTP link. Put Atem RMTP url into LliveU which sends to steamingbridge.
If Atem Streaming Bridge can receive video from LiveU solo, then it will create interesting opportunities.
We have tested, we are live .. but we only have a black screen. Is Atem Streaming Bridge blocked from receiving RMTP from anyone other than ATEM mini pro iso?

I use one camera-in in 4K that is then keyed out with my greenscreen. To „switch“ to another camera angle, I have a macro that takes that camera feed, scales it 50% and loads another background image. How would that turn out with the ISO?
It'll record the raw camera feed that shows up at the ATEM input, as well as save all your graphics. The Resolve project that gets created will include all the metadata like scaling and cutting.

Is this work flow possible for streaming high school sports in the Covid World? I'm thinking that media will be restricted this football season. So, will the Streaming Bridge allow me to plug in a camera via HDMI, plug in ethernet at the site, send the signal to the internet. Then, find the device on the internet and bring the feed into Wirecast at home and provide play by play and send out to my CDN.Thanks
Almost! The Streaming Bridge is designed to capture the output from an ATEM Mini Pro. So you could ship a camera and ATEM Mini Pro to the site, and configure that ATEM Mini Pro to stream to your Streaming Bridge. You'd have the Streaming Bridge in your studio which captures the stream and makes it available as an HDMI source, which you could bring into Wirecast using a capture card.
Do individual hdmi show up as webcams in the computer? If it has 5 encoders I don’t es why not.
That's an interesting idea! I don't think it does right now. I wonder if it would be possible to add that in a firmware update or if it would need more circuits in the USB subsystem.
@@aaronpk USB is digital, all the would need to do patch is the firmware and or the driver. I mean, even if the OS would not see the 4 codecs some black magic software driver coud. Wait... that is the Atem mini ISO Pro Pro, just add $300 lol. Just kidding. Is is on sale already? could not get the pro so I got the original, so glad I did, I am placing an order on the ISO
Just one important point concerning the Atem Stream Bridge: does it use the popular NDI format to stream video via the network? I am pretty sure it does not, which is just awful 🙁 that means you could not use it in other workflows..
NDI is made by their competitor so I'm guessing there's no hope for NDI on any blackmagic gear any time soon.
That said, this is an RTMP server so I'm guessing it will work with any RTMP source so you might even be able to push to it from OBS or other encoders. That's the first thing I'm going to try when I get one!

The best way to think of it would be a stream destination for the atem mini pro’s. You can then connect that destination to a screen for presentation or to another switcher so that it becomes another input or “remote feed”
Yeah the Pro ISO can still stream to only one location at a time, and this counts as a location.

How to saved project file with usb out and simultaneously operates as a simple webcam source. Only One usb out.
You'd have to use the HDMI or streaming output as the webcam source in order to record to a usb drive. I'm curious what your workflow is that needs this solution tho!

2.30 minute BMD guy said that the mini pro iso is same as pro externally but is different internally.
Yeah the internal difference is the addition of the 4 new h264 encoders for recording the ISO feeds
ISO is also used for instant replay.
They didn't mention any playback capability but that would be super great!

Aaron Parecki hmm. I wonder how it will be used in like high school sports. In software like wirecast ISO is used for capturing and playing back instant replay. So I wonder how that translates to Atem and what other pieces need to be used ?
Pity that using streaming bridge you cannot directly stream to CZcams of Facebook from ATEM :(
Grant and company just dropped another nuke into the broadcast industry, low cost of entry and now BIG network quality when you bring your B raw files into the created resolve project, I see more pocket 4Ks and 6Ks flying off the shelves in a hurry ....smart 😎💯

ISO is NOT ISO! Please help us as a community. The ISO recordings are only Video ISOs!! The audio is totally corrupted, as all ISO recordings have Program mixed audio tracks. What you have to do is go into the Audio ISO folder to find the, let's say CAM 3 audio. The problem is is that there is no easy way to re-sync the ISO audio with the ISO video clip because as the audio track on the ISO video recording does not have the same waveform to referent to, because it is corrupted as a program audio mix. What's up with that? and can you tell us all how to fix this terrible oversight by Black Magic?

Just a heads-up. I can’t turn the Bell on for your channel because CZcams tells me “this action is turned off for content that is made for children”. I don’t have this issue with other channels so there must be something specific to your channel that’s causing this, I can subscribe but only without the bell. Weird.
well *that* is very strange! I thought I had gone through all the hoops to mark my channel "not for children" but I'll take another look! Thanks!
Ok I double checked everything and my channel and all the videos are definitely marked as "not for kids" so I assume this was just a random hiccup!
Aaron Parecki I deleted and reinstalled the CZcams App and also installed 13.6 on my iPad. Neither of these changes made any difference. I then deleted my subscription to you and re-added it an lo, the bell option was available. So, I don’t know why I had this problem for a subscription to you (I added another user as a test before I deleted CZcams etc and it worked fine for them) but all is now working. Cheers. Paul

I don't know why they didn't do this at the start.
Because you can record on each camera but it's labour intensive to do so and fiddly.
Especially if you have your cameras setup.
But not all inputs will be cameras.
For me, I'll have two monitor inputs, bow I can have the screen recording.
But, it means doing this separately.
Which means after taking separate SD cards and files being recorded on the computer meaning extra things going on etc... when the idea of the ATEM is it being a separate device from your computer.
Because I will be streaming and then editing from a stream, till now it didn't quite fulfil my needs.
Now with the separate inputs recording, it now fulfils my needs completely.
I can see this being a need for most people.
When doing anything like streaming and then bringing a separate bit together afterward for an edited CZcams video, this cuts down the complication.
Each stream will have one folder and all of it will be in that, plus you can start recording when you wish.
You don't need to record each input on the source so you don't also have lots of extra video, you start recording everything all at the same time.
Which will make syncing easier also.
You load in each input and just switch in the software after the stream.
This also means you no longer have to worry if you don't nail the switching during a stream.
Making more relaxed.
Because on a stream it's not the end of the world, a part of streaming that makes it fun to watch is the rawness.
But, for the edited CZcams video, you can pick up everything and switch as you wish after.
Which also means you can get gems you wouldn't have gotten from cameras off the screen.
It would be nice if they could now make a not so MINI ATEM with 8 inputs, just to be a never-satisfied customer hahahaha
I haven’t even got my rig up and running at church yet and I want the streaming bridge! If I can broadcast to multiple streaming bridges at once, I would hook one to each classroom smartboard and use it to broadcast special prayer services to the classrooms. In this Time of Social distancing, it would be easier for our Priest to broadcast an all-school Rosary to each classroom rather than have all the classes assemble in church.
realy bad idea. to much latency if you run audio seperate. use SDI (bmd UpDownCross and bmd microConverter SDI2HDMI). i have dumped all HDMI at my church and only use SDI. best decision i made. (we use a bmd smart video20x20 to distribute to every screen and projector. if you have questions feel free to ask my brother.
Juri Stöckli I’ve got our PTZ cameras running SDI to an ATEM MINI Pro where I then convert to HDMI and also have a line run from our sound board to the MINI Pro. My hope is that I can stream from the church MINI Pro to a network of these new Streaming Bridges that I would connect to the classroom smart boards.

Juri Stöckli How so? From what I gathered, you stream to the streaming bridge in the same way you would stream to CZcams or Facebook. If one can stream to more than one streaming bridge simultaneously, I should be able to set one up in each classroom and connect them to the VLAN we use for the church’s streaming rig.
@@Adam47150 i will test if you can feed the streaming bridge from other encoders (obs). but you need one stream for each stream bridge. you can use ndi or cheap HDMI over ip extender. but the need more bandwidth. the one i use need up to 90 mb/s

I worked out what causes the "subscribe/bell not suitable for children’ problem. It’s a bug.
The problem occurred today on another channel & I’m able to consistently reproduce the problem.
If I first subscribe to a channel whilst I’m watching it on my LG TV using the built in CZcams app then I’m never able to turn on the bell as it always shows up as not suitable for children on all devices I’m logged in to. If I first subscribe using my PC or iPad then I’m able to turn the bell off/on with equanimity. I’ll report this to CZcams.

Disappointed , i wish they add headphone jet and one more HDMI output , become a perfect Atem Mini Pro . The ISO didn't solve the weakness.
I agree, a missing headphone jack is a massive issue compared to recording individual inputs. Also, instead of another input, it needs a second output.
Typical Blackmagic move. Can’t deliver the product but keep on releasing new ones. My guess is that it will be available around the time when the newer model to this will be announced.
Ok, i agree that these are great announcements, but I'm pretty sure that, since both devices have USB Type-C, there should be the option to connect them that way also.
I can think of a couple of ways that would be handy to me, the most awesome one being the use of the ATEM Mini Pro's HDMI for multi view and then using the USB-C to connect the ATEM Mini Pro to the ATEM Steaming Bridge to have multiple output options (HDMI, SDI and Ethernet), possibly including the option to live stream to online platforms thru the ATEM Steaming Bridge itself (that's me really dreaming too hi). Maybe in a future firmware update they'll actually pull something like that off...
But i still think they really gotta go for the extra HDMI port dedicated to multi view at least on the ATEM Mini Pro. (Wake up Blackmagic!!!)
the atem mini (pro) is for entry level productions. if you need more switch to a bigger atem. The biggest problem with atem mini are the HDMI Ports. i whould like a version with sdi.
@@juri14111996 I know it's an entry level equipment and i know who it's aimed for.
My problem was never the fact that it is "too small". I can bet you people rarely need more than 4 ports for most of their productions...
One of the things that i'm trying to say here is that, since this is a multi input device, it feels a bit stupid not to have at least the option of MultiView.
With the introduction of the ATEM Streaming Bridge, this only makes more sense because, a compact unit, capable of 4 individual Up/Down/Cross conversion, one on each input, and also Up/Down/Cross conversion on the output, with one (or more, depending on the model) built-in H.264 encoder can suddently have 1 extra HDMI output along with 2 additional SDI outputs.
Now just Imagine that they are able to do thru the USB-C connection the same that they did thru the Ethernet... They could eventually use the USB-C to export MultiView either with the current ATEM Streaming Bridge or by launching a specific unit (like a USB-C to HDMI converter) and you would have an ATEM Mini with HDMI Program Out, "HDMI thru USB-C" MultiView and Ethernet control.
Better... With that you could have the ATEM Mini Pro (or the ISO version) with HDMI Program Out, "HDMI thru USB-C" MultiView and Ethernet for Live Streaming with simultaneously unit control.
You could choose to connect the HDMI Program Out to a computer, have the "HDMI thru USB-C" for MultiView and use the ATEM Streaming Bridge thru Ethernet giving you the possibility to have 1 extra HDMI output along with 2 additional SDI outputs.
These are just a couple of examples, i can give you at least 3 others where this would be a real game changer, but i think that for now this is enough.
To sumarize things, i KNOW that there is great potential for all these entry level products, but Blackmagic Design keeps (in my honest opinion DELIBERATELY) holding features back.

Aaron, why does your video look fantastic and Grant Peddy's picture quality look really flat, dull, no contrast, limited saturation.... I'm sure he's using a fancy BMD camera and you are using (probably) a DSLR.... and your vid POPS and his FLOPS.
hah thanks! this was one I spent the least time on the colors too. It's straight out of my Lumix G7, no color adjustments in post at all. Guess it's all in the lighting!
I also think they're going for a specific look in their studio there, and it does work!
Grant is probably using either a Log or Cine profile, both of which are "flat" profiles that facilitate post-production options -- neither of which are best choices for direct broadcast.
I think that's just the look they're going for! He even showed the color grading they do in camera for the livestream announcements
Cmon Parecki multi cam editing has been around for years ..and this box isn’t going to have every person with a camera go buy it just to do a multi cam. And anyone doing a shoot will hit record or they won’t get any footage... calm down bro ... the new box is something to be happy about, but yet another ATEM when the last two we all bought are just sitting around... Black magic needs to refund us...

@@artkarp, I love my Atem mini too, but as someone who streams and records conferences the ISO is a game changer.
All you ever do is Atem Mini videos. It’s getting boring. I have a mini pro and it was hard to get. But why put out an iso when it’s difficult to even get a mini. You guys are over saturating your videos with Atem mini. Seriously!!
It's just such a cool device and I'm always super excited about it!
