for the first top with the stretched out squares, you seemed to be moving the straps to make sure they didn’t fall, maybe you should cross it in the back and tie it the same way if that makes sense?

I got the idea from you to make the same tote. The only difference is I'm making mine with a 4mm crochet hook. Actually a little smaller on some as I need about 40 squares but I ran out of the first ball of white when I was finishing the 20th. But then again I don't know if I'll it make it a 4x4 instead. I just used some of my favourite totes as a guideline. Then I did alternating hearts. So half of them will have a red heart and the other half will have white ones. And I'm sewing my own liner to go. I have some overleft ikea white fabric at home that I can use to make a tote. And I'll definitely use the same fabric for the straps beucase I use my totes as heavy duty bags for everything. From going to my dad's place to going anywhere shopping really so crochet handles wouldn't be able to hold the weight. Expecially since I started to wear this double bag combo recently where I wear what I call my useless bag (a baguette bag I got a few years ago from mango) that is a plasticky tortoiseshell incredibly tiny bag for my wallet, a lip oil and lip tint and a random blister of lactase. Then under it I grab a tote to put the big items so I can feel more put together (I'm in my jorts and oversized tshirt combo with chunky converse). So I need it to hold my heavy items. To be totally fair though I do have my heavy totes and less heavy ones. I have like canvas 5 totes already that I use interchangeably either to match colours or in size and wear. Some clearly look used so I use those more for grocery shopping. The better looking ones and the smaller ones I use for in town shopping more.
Edit: I made no fucking sense in some parts because I'm dumb and don't know how to type. But then again I can use the excuse that I'm not actually native English.

What type of yarn (size and fabric) do you use when you make clothes or bags? They look smaller than what I usually see and they have a better flow.
You could undo the cream row and then slip stitch one round of cream around each square
That way it will still be 4 rows but you'll always get the cream
Edit: i love how you thought about it but you don't want to redo it because it's too much work and i feel that😭
