    One of the most deserved wins in this category. Brenda's performance in ''My Left Foot'' showed us that a Mother's love for her son is always unconditional.

      Hello from Ireland, it certainly is not... what you saw was a romanticised view of what it was like. Ireland was horrific back then and was so until the middle of the 90s. We are finding horrors wherever we look and terrible abuse, a mother's love is not guaranteed Mrs Brown was the exception, not the rule.

      @@andrewgoodbody2121 Mostly definitely was not the exception. The mothers from the 30s, 40s and 50s raised multiple children by themselves while the men drank the money. You don't know what you're talking about.

      Grew up watching her as a nurse in the UK tv show casualty, she had such a loving persona and was not one to be trifled with.

    Honestly, i started to watch this film for Daniel Day-Lewis....she gave a terrific performance too & i am glad that the academy identified that too.

    Love to see the reactions of the nominees whose name is not called. Julia and Lena, not happy, Diane and Angelica were happy. Great to see when other actors seem genuinely pleased for the winner. Brenda deserved her win here.
