- YEAR IN REVIEW | The WWF in 1993 (Full Year Documentary)
The Year 1993 brought us a lot of great things, in the world of Television we saw Season 1 of Frasier, in the Film; True Romance first hit theatres, and in the WWF we saw a rollercoaster year full of highs and lows. Yes, if 1992 was the year where the last dying embers of the Hulkamania Era were supposed to have burned out, then 1993 was supposed to represent the shift into a new generation for WWF. And while in many ways this would happen, with smaller, more athletic starts solidifying their spot on top of the card and new weekly TV shows making their debut, sometimes letting go of the past is a hard thing to do. But how did it all happen? Well, join us today as we take a deep dive into the entire story from start to finish in The WWF in 1993: A Year in Review.

Thanks for watching, what we should we cover in the next video? Also, make sure to drop a like to help get the video picked up by CZcams’s algorithm 💪🏻👊🏻🤘🏻
Hey dude hope to see u in wrestling Daze streams on Monday buddy and grate video
Test or Brutus Beefcake.
Andy you’re def from Canada. You have to stop making video centered around Bret off of storied that only Bret has said. It’s wrestling, you weren’t behind the scenes so just talk about the show and not what you “think” you know behind the scenes
You should mention how nobody promised Bret a program with hulk. Brets the only person who said it. Stop marking out for Bret dude
TERRY FUNK. C’mon dude, it’s long overdue. We NEED a video on the FUNKER.
Seeing Hogan wrestle like Chris Jericho is something that I didn't think was possible.
Yea that was something I’ve never seen in all my years of watching wrestling lol
These years in review are great. Keep them coming
Appreciate the support 👊🏻🤘🏻💪🏻
@@WRESTLEWITHANDY great videos bro keep it up love this series wish u started in the mid 80s thoo
@@WRESTLEWITHANDY WWE was never close going out business and Bret was a draw

These 'Year In Review' videos are tight
1993 was the year the WWF snake shed its 1980s skin and new generation skin revealed underneath. It was also the first “real” year of the 1990s culturally.
What do you mean by that ? Are you telling me in 1993 they are changing guards of the rosters ?
I agree. 1993 was the start for sure. I’ve been saying that for years too.
1992 still had some 80’s elements. Hair metal was on its last legs that same year. By 1993, even as a little kid. It was already phased out completely by the end of ‘93 or even before then too. I saw very little to no hair metal bands getting any attention at all as late as ‘95.
I believe that The Golden Era ended at King of The Ring 1993 when Hulk Hogan exited WWE, signifying the beginning of the New Generation Era. I definitely see the change when Hogan, Savage, Warrior, and others from that era are phasing out in favoring Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, and Undertaker. This is evident starting in SummerSlam 1992 even though still it had 80s vibes. By 1993, the 80s were definitely gone.
In retrospect, Bret showed more respect to the World Wrestling Federation Championship Belt than Hogan ever did.
But was more respected
@@lexkanyima2195 did you mean "and"?
@@Vaga-Bard no
Amen
People don’t wanna admit it but hogan was a better champion than Bret. Bret had better matches, but hogan sold out more shows
I was born in the early 90s (1991). I am seeing that 1993 being a transitional period between The Golden Era and the upcoming New Generation Era. The change is evident as old favorites are leaving make room for newer stars. I love both eras which still featured Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, and Ted DiBiase while Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Yokozuna, Razor Ramon, and Lex Luger are being established. I believe that the Golden Era ended at King of The Ring 1993 when Hogan exited the company and marks the beginning of the New Generation Era.
At Survivor Series, the identities of three knights were:
Jeff Gaylord was the Black Knight
Greg Valentine was the Blue Knight
Barry Horowitz was the Red Knight
It was so confusing
This is the best put together wrestling review

Thanks man, appreciate the support 💪🏻🤘🏻
As a kid watching Wrestlemania 9 live was amazing. I had a hardtime explaining to my friend over the phone that Hogan won the belt, when the match was Yoko vs Bret (we were both Bret fans)
I always dreamed of watching those paybper views..i only watched those Saturday mornings shows when i was a kid lol
@@Shoto_Mist same here.. But got lucky that one month and we had that unscrambler for the ppv.. Then parents took it away because it had too much adult stuff on there 😔
Haha the unscambler i remember that! Remember when the pay per view would show all the way to main event sometimes..i remember watching the intros for hulk Hogan vs earthquake and i was so pumped and then the channel went blank 😂
@@Live21Forever That's one of the few things I'm not nostalgic about: no P-hub during puberty. lol
Can’t wait for year 94! Loved this!
One thing; it was the Heavenly Bodies that the Steiner’s faced at SummerSlam. Good video overall though. 👍
This was great! 1992 was when I tapped out of the WWF so very interesting to see what would’ve happened if I’d kept watching. I’m appreciating the WWF more than ever now - thanks for these reviews 😎
Seems like a lot of people tapped out in 92.
@@miked2075 just when I started
@@peterbaini8752 I kept watching because my favorite wrestler started to become the main guy. And the New Generation had some amazing matches. But the ratings dipped down a lot.
It was definatly the year of young generations rising until the very end. I cannot wait for the next year review documentary. Keep it up Andy, great work
Hi , we want to see all years review till 1999. it’s really nostalgic to watch this .
Love these year in review videos….great memories thank you

Nice coverage man wow. Can't wait for the next 2 or 3 of this series
Thanks again for the great clip bringing back so many memories. That year not only had the worst Wrestlemania but also the worst finish to a Royal Rumble match ever with Randy Savage actually trying to pin Yokozuna and then being bench pressed over the the top rope like a toy.
Keep these videos coming great job!!!
Great video! Thank you for mentioning Ted Dibiase's last WWF match. Can't wait for the miserable years, 94 and 95.

Great review, brings back a lot of memories and matches to watch on the WWE network. WWE should consider putting these videos on the network.
Can't wait to see your review of the worst year in WWF/E History ( 1995 ) when the video comes in the future.....boy it will be a good watch
I hope more details
1993-95 was so damn bad for WWF. They really should have just gone out of business. They have never had a good stretch that could make up for this godawful streak of misery.
@@SomeHyenas we thought 1995 that WWF was going out of business after Wrestlemania 11 or King Of The Ring
@SomeHyenas lol that's funny cus those are the years I really started to get into wrestling as a kid, I was like 7, 8. So those shitty years will always be great to me! Lol I remember 1995 Royal Rumble was the first ever PPV we bought at my house, a reward for doing good in school. I loved it! But watching now, the Royal Rumble match was nothing but jobbers lol, one of the worst as in star power. It was cool that HBK and Bulldog stayed in from start to finish tho, I dont think WWE has done that since have they?
@@billblaski9523 WWE has recreated that moment in royal rumble a number of times. Stone Cold & Vince McMahon in 1999 started and ended the rumble together. Orton & Edge started the rumble and ended it together in 2021!
Hogan pulling off an armbar?
Now i've seen everything.
Like to see him wrestle Ronda Rousey.
@@markant9534 she would wreck him.
I sure hope we get that bio video about TERRY FUNK.
If I recall, only one of the Quebecers (Jacques) was in the Foreign Fanatics team. The 4th guy was Crush.
Anyway, the 1991-1994 years were the Golden age years for WWF at least for me. These were the years I recall as a kid getting into pro wrestling along with my brothers. And we were living in Germany at the time and as thus we'd get to see all the WWF wrestling events including pay-per-views for free on AFN. Looking at these videos fills me with nostalgia. And these videos provide some more context as to what was going on with the company that as an 8-year-old I never knew of.
Keep up the good work. 👍
And mr perfect was replaced by Randy Savage earlier that night
There was a lot of great in 93. Raw was incredible that year. Tons of forgotten matches that were classics.
I never clicked so fast.
"Luger drunk in a bar" is not only a myth, it is also - falsely - associated with WMX and not SummerSlam.
I am getting the impression that these videos here are low on solid information but quick to dish out judgments.
The Women's title wasn't reactivated in 1993 but 1994.
And need I say: Dr Tom Pritchard, Gigolo Jimmy Del Rey - The Beverly Brothers.
I was 7 in 93’ and was at WM9, the was ok and was exactly what it was suppose to be for it’s target audience
But this series is dope

I’ve been waiting for the new one 🤩 - 1993 I must admit I was into Doink the clown heavy lol
Rest In Peace to the wrestlers who wrestled in 1993……
I genuinely can't wait until you cover 2016 and 17, my golden years of wrestling
Appreciate it 💪🏻 hope you’re enjoying the series so far 🤘🏻
Do hulk hogan
one of my favorite years in wwf history
87 to 92 was my childhood so glad I got the golden era
All of those replacements at Survivor Series 93 was crazy.
I have really strong nostalgia for this year because it was when I got into pro wrestling religiously.
I stopped watching the WWE (then WWF) around the 1990/91 period and then when dating my then girlfriend in 1999 found she loved WWE and I found how much it had changed, how hardcore it was compared to how it was. I still liked it though. You have to change it with the times you don't want getting stale and losing the audience. Vince McMahon Jr is a great promoter and took it places.
Now do the Street 📈
The "Luger leaking the finish" applies to Wrestlemania X, not SummerSlam 93. Good grief the errors in these videos are outlandish.
13.46 the Beverly Brothers as the Heavenly Bodies come on
facts calls matt borne "matt osborne" the original doink...smh
@@lunisic I thought Matt Osborne and Matt Borne were the same dude, with Matt Borne being his wrestling name?

@@WRESTLEWITHANDY Welcome!
Hogan in Japan always hit different.
Damn did y’all see hogan hit that Enzuigiri?😳 I guess he only pulled out moves like that when in Japan because he had about as boring and basic move set as you could get when he wrestled here in our stateside promotions! Big right hands, hip toss, Body slams, Irish whip to clothesline, hulk up, no sell opponents punches, shake head in anger, irish whip to big boot, leg drop of doom, cover 1,2,3. Ladies and gentlemen you have just read the entire move set of the immortal hulk hogan for every match he ever did as face hogan in a US promotion. 🤣🤣. But he was a totally different wrestler when he wrestled in the Japanese promotions.
He went from doing like 2 moves here to the bare minimum in Japan 😂😂😂
@@MR.__G 🤣🤣🤣 true
@@theoutdoorsman9726 I find it funny when ppl say look up his work in Japan. They make it seem like he turned into hbk or Kurt out there 😂😂
You called Heavenly Bodies, the Beverly Brothers.
Can we please have the Shane Douglas story please 🤞
I was 10 years old. I was a wrestling fan, and a Hulkamaniac. But this is the year that I started feeling like the WWF is getting dry, they needed new talent and a new approach. The 80's & early 90's golden days were long gone.
The only reason Vince started the WBF to begin with was because Lex Luger was still under contract with WCW and couldn't sign with another wrestling promotion, but he could sign with a bodybuilding promotion. It was only started to sign Luger because Vince was convinced that he could make Luger the next Hulk Hogan.
As much as I wanted to see more of Bret with the title in ‘93, Luger should’ve won the title at summerslam 93. He was over with the crowd. All the months leading up with the lex express bs and building him up what a waste to not give him the title at SS.
Watching 93 on the network. There's a lot to enjoy. Even found myself rooting for Tatanka at Wrestelmania IX. Can't believe how over he was
I know the spot was obviously rehearsed before hand to make sure lex could slam yokozuna but imagine if it wasn't and in the big moment lex couldn't slam him. Hmm, things to ponder. 🤔🤣😂
I remember when Carlos Colón came to the ring in the 93 Rumble, Monsoon said "there's a lot of fire in this youngster!" even though Carlos was like 44 years old and the oldest man in the Rumble, lol.
Hope you can do WCW and ECW After this series
When Lex won I was shocked
It was count down..
Why don’t you do these anymore? I noticed you stopped at 2006? Why not continue?
My Era 93-97 new generation 🔥🙌🤣
2:26 sweet chin music**
Andy is a Bret hart mark
Joke Hogan ruined yet another WrestleMania....
In the end Hogan ruins everything.
The Rainmaker: Kazuchika Okada
There was also the UK SUMMER TOUR. I went to that.
'93 WWF was a great year. It was the 1st ever time is saw this type of entertainment. I was 11.
9 year old me loved the then wwf so much at this time , I loved the new generation and although wrestlemania wasn't great it looked spectacular and the Steiners/Headshrinkers match was superb , towards the end of the year I loved the seed being sown for Owen/Bret and let's not forget Max Moon 😂
Does anyone see the people running in the crowd during the brief video of the Steiners match with the Beverlys at the Rumble? What the hell was up with that? Did I miss something?
That's back when wrestling was real.
Luger celebrating in the ring after he won via countout is one of the most laugh out loud bad moments ever. I laughed so hard for minutes when that happened. Like ummm.....Lex...you know you didn't win the belt right? Are...are they serious?...then they lifted him on their shoulders and I lost it lol
7:26 The technical #HulkHogan = ; D
13:40 uhh thats the Heavenly Bodies, not the Beverly Brothers lol
this reminds me look up Razor vz. Bret Hart
