@@EffervescentSunflower you hear it thru your phone when you download and connect your phone thru the app (u hear the notification, you also can watch live video thru the phone and also talk to whoever is at your door even when your away from home) I got mine for security but also so I can watch my house while I'm at work (I work graveyard hours)
@@ChopStarChick I bought the ring chime box so I can hear without relying on having my phone in hand for a ring notification to come across. I can everywhere in the house via the chime box when the ring bell is pressed outside.

I totally agree with you the title said how to install a doorbell without existing doorbell. In other words I thought he was going to show us how to do the wiring and everything because that's what I'm searching for. The house I'm living in has never had a doorbell the title was very misleading.

Hello, you only need a transformer if your video doorbell requires a hard-wired connection. Which model do you have?
The ring 2 uses a rechargeable battery for power. No wiring needed. The Ring Pro requires hard wired 24 volt AC power supplied by a transformer (120 Volt AC to 24 Volt AC). If you aren't comfortable tying into your home's electrical panel or from another more local power source (light, switch, etc.) then call an electrician.

Does it require having Alexa or anything to use aside from just your phone, Wi-Fi and app? I always see where it says works with Alexa etc. I get that means it can but I want to be sure it isn't a must.
Hello and thank you for the comment. You are correct, you only need your phone (or computer, tablet), WI-Fi and App. Alexa is helpful if you have a fire stick or fire tv and want to watch live events on the TV. For example, if you have a motion event while you are home, you could say "Echo, show front door." The fire tv will then stop what you're currently watching and switch to that camera. I don't have it connected to my TV because my phone is always within arms reach.

Come on please, everybody needs help some times. The answer is that beside the ring door bell sounding off on your phone you can also use the ring chime which you plug in inside your home.

Yes, you can either charge the doorbell by removing it from the base. Another option you have is to buy the additional solar panel. The solar panel has been hit and miss for me
