    For anyone planning to do this, use marine grade sealant for the holes you make and never use wire nuts on DC or in high vibration/moist areas. Also Minn Kotta suggests placing the heading sensor puck more than 2 feet from the trolling motor for best accuracy.

    Good video. I noticed that you didn’t use 4200 or 5200 around the light hole and the screw holes. Really should always use one of those for any holes in the hull. Also, please don’t use wire nuts, use waterproof butt splice connectors. This is year one boating knowledge and really important.

    wire nuts are not meant for dc voltage, stop using them on your boat

    Don’t forget to change out those wire nuts with heat shrink butt connectors, it will rot ur wiring if salt water wicks in there. Ya also outta 5200 the hole in ur fiberglass. All said those things look great

      I actually prefer a silicone for sealing lights on a boat, it’s not a matter of if but when for them to fail and need replacing. Would hate to have to fight 5200 to get those lights loose

    Nice job, but as a retired machinist, please wear safety glasses. You only get 1 pair of peepers.

    Adam - thanks for posting this video. After your '2 Year Review' video on the Minn Kota I've decided to add it to my Ultra 210. I was also planning on adding the Taco lights and this video gave me a great blueprint on how to get it done. Is your Minn Kota removable and, if so, which block did you use? (Any chance you made a video of the Minn Kota installations?)

      I currently have it mounted on the RTA-17 but I will be mounting it on my new boat in the next week or two. It’s a gamefish 25 and I will be upgrading the bracket to the RTA-54. I’ll do a video

    Salty I have a quick question. I am getting ready to install these lights as well. Would it be better to cut the rail out first then drill the 5/8" bit through the hull? That way you don't have to drill the 5/8" bit through the stainless. Looks like you had to cut the rail out where you drilled anyways. Great Video thanks for sharing it.

    Im on my 3rd TACO green nav light, they keep going bad. I have heard others say the same. Has the company looked into this? My port side, red light, has never had any issues, still the original.

      I have no short circuits on that side of the boat either. It's something with those green, starboard side lights?

    Great video, I know it’s been a while, but what did you use to plug the old bow light hole? I’m thinking I’ll just leave the old bow light in place, but if there is a nice plug I might try it? Also how is the Ulterra working, I just bought and installed one? Which is why I’m looking at installing lights on the rub rail.

    • @dbdors
      @dbdors Před 3 lety

      I watched the beginning again, and if I understand, you installed 12” bow light, and these replaced the 12” light. So I guess what I’m seeing is the old 12” light socket. Is that correct?

    • @THEBIGA2300
      @THEBIGA2300  Před 3 lety

      Yes I ended up installing the minn Kota heading sensor over the hole where the light socket was.
