Ok so we're gonna continue with another FREE online class for you guy's because of whats been going on in the world right now with the coronavirus. This technique is with using ushiro waza (techniques from behind) and applying a very unique sankyo, hope you guy's enjoy it and God Bless. - Sport
Awesome video..I'm ex- NYPD and I can tell you that the attack is used very frequently by muggers they make believe they are walking by you and then quickly grab your hand in an attempt to "yoke you" like uke grabbed sensei. Sensei response was blending and rounded it was concise and to the point and that's even though he was being nice with uke. Osh.. More videos please., thanks.....
Great video Sensei. You’re style of aikido is the most practical.
Appreciate this, Lenny. Your transitions are truly beautiful to watch.
"Building with Legos". That paraphrases the whole mantra I've assumed over years of practising the Arts.
I also liken it to chess.
One move opens up a whole raft of responses, or counters. Having said that, with a 'book' of techniques at my disposal, depending on situations I sometimes take a moment deciding what to apply. That doesn't mean inaction, of course, I'm controlling the situation for those milli-seconds the mind flicks over the Rolodex.
Only the rare occasion I've merely nullified, rather than eliminated, the threat to establish intent. The corollary to that is, once I know the intent the level of threat then dictates naturally the appropriate counter.
All in those milli-seconds.
I was talking with a Muay Thai girl only this week.
Her first instructor began the lesson with a question - "Who is the best warrior?"
"The one who wins? The strongest?"
Inst: "The one who walks away".
From the the monks of Wudan: No motion without stillness. No action without form.
This week's "Ah-haaahh' moment? Technique is proportionate to intent.
Years of learning how to **** someone's life up, with maximum prejudice, and I'll still prefer to 'walk away'.
Want to hear something interesting? In the Gospel of Matthew the Beatitudes start with 'Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth'.
The word 'meek' doesn't mean 'weak', or 'defenceless'. In the Greek the concept is 'he who carries the sword and leaves it sheathed'.
Lenny is awesome sometimes I like to watch @Maul565 he uses this term allot. He says his techniques are like legos. And that you can piece each move or technique together and you should able to fit each move together with at least 3 moves of options to fit in next. Lenny and Maul have changed the way I walk and train. Now I hit the water bags with my head and face. Because of Mauls family's techniques on pain training they punch each other in the face hard ( it's crazy stuff) and train hard hitting a 13y girl in the arms with a stick. The way he kicks. I no longer will though a high kick. Mauls techniques on kicking are truly amazing. Thanks again for another great lesson. Keep up the good work guy's
Thanks Sly Sensei, my school is closed for a while and with this vid I can at least try these tips while at home. I haven't trained in almost two weeks and now I realize how much I miss the mat. Again thanks.
Man I'm glad to see you're back!! I was starting to think you'd given up on making videos.
A collab with "hard2hurt", an Aikido critic, could be the ultimate showdown. Will you do it, Sly?
Love the way you man handle that boy. Glad to see your focused on the lesson and not the haters anymore.
Love this show, he's a man who tells how it is.
Sooo super focused Sensei, thank you for sharing your years of experience in Aikido and for thinking "out of the box" with more of our culture-driven applications. Dojo looks crisp!
This is an excellent transition from the classic Sankyo lock.
Welcome back Sly Sensei! Been patiently awaiting your return. Brilliant video as always
Great as always Sensei! Very well demonstrated-very imaginative! And WOW Rod, you have a high pain threshold!!
Good to see you back sensei! Great video and teachings as always. Thank you

Your Aikido is like water ... be like water my friend
Very nice! Thank you for giving it sharing it for free. Keep safe rogue warriors.👍
can you give a little bit of history about you and how your teacher taught you and how you became a very good student and sensei
*Sly says :*
"Come train with us."
"A man has got to *NO!* his limitations."
Practical aikido 👍
Interesting way of doing sankyo, with you always i learn new things
Kudos....I enjoyed your presentation..yes one should be able to flow.....here's something that I like to bring to my students
There is a saying in Ancient Hellenic (Greek) philosophy, that is attributed to the philosopher Heraclitus. That phrase, in Greek, is “τὰ πάντα ῥεῖ καὶ οὐδὲν μένει” (ta panta rhei kai ouden menei). It roughly translates to, “everything flows, and nothing stays.” Another saying attributed to Heraclitus along this vein is that you can’t step into the same river twice.
In short these sayings can be summarized in two words: Everything Changes. The water that flows in a river is always shifting and flowing, so that when you step into a river for a second time, it is no longer the same river. Also.....it is noteworthy that by this logic, one could not even step into the same river once, since the water continues to flow!! even as you set your foot into it! In other words as uke tries to adapt to a technique nage has already flowed around within and without effecting the final outcome. This of course applies to whether one is standing seating or on the ground.
Keep the Aiki Spirit up.
Lenny, your techniques are just fantastic....
Thank you!
I really enjoy your Aikido, Thank you Sir!
I am so sad that in Italy there is no this kind of fresh-air modern and effective approach to Aikido. I feel so lonely
If you learn anyways maybe be the first.
Thanks for sharing! I like your outside the box thinking. Much appreciated.
Good video Lenny!! Glad to see you back and keeping it real!!!
I need to take a trip to your Dojo! Love how you emphasize the importance of knowing the basic Aikido principles before creating new versions of techniques. This has to be one of best classes so far! Keep em coming Sensei Sly!
