Talking About 2023 Animation

2023 was, without a doubt, a good year for animation. A lot of different content was released, movies, shows, independent animation. Some stuff was fantastic, some was very disappointing. So let’s talk a bit about the animation of 2023.

Don't forget Hilda's series finale. It's got a nice 9.7 on IMDb, and it's very much deserved.

There's also the massively underrated Strawberry Shortcake holiday specials on Netflix. They were made by the same people who made MLP:FiM (did you know that Nicole Oliver is a voice director now?) and with the same quality, but almost no one saw them AFAICT. The Christmas special in particular is fantastic. They did a great job finding the heart of the story and playing to it. The Halloween special is not as memorable, but it's still pretty fun and has a cool fight scene that pays homage to Alien.

There are some shows and movies that I didn't talk about 'cause I didn't really have much to say. "Lackadaisy" is a nice film with great Disney-esque animation and a lot of promise.

Okay here is the thing about Ruby Gilman I actually liked it even though people disagree with the story being more about uniting the two races instead of just having an evil mermaid villain but listen I know there are a lot of people out there with bad relationships with their parents and everything but we already went on that boat with Turning Red and we all know how that went I agree more with the way they did the story and how you should listen to your parents because their are moments in life where you regret your decisions when your parents tried to convince you to not make a certain decision which is kind of what Teenage Kraken is trying to show which I really like and was good to see a movie without a parent as the villain for once
