  • In June every year we celebrate Pride Month - it is a special month for all queer people around the world. Queer people go to streets and show that they exist and that their rights must be respected. The way they want to live their lives must be respected and normalized. Unfortunately, most of the world isn’t accepting of LGBTQ+ people and in some places it is literally illegal by law not to be heterosexual. Pride Month is a great way to showcase that, despite a lot of problems, we are constantly trying to progress as a society. In this video I’d like to dive deeper into the history of Pride Month, LGBTQ+ rights and, since my channel is oriented towards pop cultural stuff, let’s also dive into the history of portrayal of queerness in mainstream media.

"The most thorough follow-up of sex-reassigned people-extending over 30 years and conducted in Sweden, where the culture is strongly supportive of the transgendered-documents their lifelong mental unrest. Ten to 15 years after surgical reassignment, the suicide rate of those who had undergone sex-reassignment surgery rose to 20 times that of comparable peers." food for thought

And the regret rate for properly vetted trans people is 2% while the regret rate for people who have knee replacements is 20%. See? I can also find data but mine doesn't imply trans people who transition kill themselves more often.
