  • A conparison of these two receivers on the FM broadcast band. Is the ATS 20 + any better?

Thanks for all your videos on this radio, Kevin.

I just got my ATS-20+ and my frequency numbers are bigger than the standard size. Much easier to see. Love this radio so far. Have a 50 foot wire outside and it's doing great picking up HAMs and SW. I have version 2.04 on mine and am not changing it.

Hello. Very interesting and interesting radio. I am interested in its sensitivity and selectivity?
I mean separating the strong stations from the weaker stations that are close to each other?
I've seen a lot of different models, but the internet doesn't provide much information. In Poland, there are few or no such models, because I have not found a single CZcams video in Polish.

These radio's do have a very poor impedance match on the antenna port at the FM band. That's is the main Reason for the Bad FM reception. A solution can be using a six to one transformer at the antenna input. (With the low impedance side connected to the radio)

What works on one band does not work on ALL bands. That is the problem with most of these SDR's versus a "real" radio that has all kinds of filters (and impedance matching) maybe for each band - to a common antenna. Much like you could have an excellent Chinese chef - but do you think that they could be a total genius on an Italian dish (or vice-versa)???

Upgrading the firmware will improve RDS functionality I am certain. i intend to do that with the 20+ later but for now I am testing it with the firmware that was originally on it.

I am using the latest of Ricardo's software that i have found (3.0.4) and RDS comes in either instantly or within 5-10 seconds on both of my ATS-20's. Very well, too, not intermittent letters like you see here. You can auto-scan, too with this software. Upgrading (or downgrading again) is very easy if you have ever programmed an Arduino. Takes maybe 2 minutes at most.

@@gregalss It really is easy BUT you need to have used the ArduinoIDE before.....have you? If not, i would advise against trying....at least until you have programmed an Arduino and understand the simple steps to it. If you have, let me know.

I'm sorry - but this a basically a useless video! :-O It could be EDITED down to ONE MINUTE!!! Ummm, if you are getting an "odd" number after the dec point then ALL stations will be (.1, .3, .5, .7, .9). That's in the US at least - there are no EVEN number channels in the US! I know that is a big thing around the Islamic countries. AND, most of the people tuning this vidi in don't give a s#!+ about the "FM broadcast band". We can buy a $5 radio for that! What MOST people tuning in care about is FM on the HF bands!!! 10m has always been - and now the FCC (US) has allowed FM on the 11m "CB" band. Ummmm, DOES THIS RADIO DO THAT????

And MY biggest beef (this time NOT the fault of the OP) is that "if" this radio will receive the Commercial FM Radio Band - then WHY did they not include 6M and 4M (England)??? This is an SDR! That should EASILY be a mod (if they can get up to 108Mhz in the first place!!!) :-O AND what about the Japanese Commercial FM band (like 60-88 or something???). I am NOT even sure why all of these freqs have to be "split up" into bands!!! Good "idea" but the whole thing needs A LOT of work - and it should be all SOFTWARE work - as I doubt for $40(US) there are any kind of BP filters being switched in (and out) per "band"!!! :-O

No this Radio does not have FM receive on the HF bands. The coverage is limited I believe by the capabilities of the SI4732 chip so no 4 or 6 metre coverage nor is there airband coverage.
