Hi Kevin, thanks for making this video. I have a couple of TM-G707 that I am still using today after over 20 years. I had recently bought a programming cable but could not any software programs to connect to the radio to work (CHIRP and Kenwood`s own MCP-2a). After a quick search I was able to find the software you used in your video, unzip it and rename a com port. It worked straight away (using Windows 11). When I write back to the radio and the transfer is complete my radio re boots its self. 73`s

I am about to do this (just waiting on the radio arriving). I assume you can use the same cable as a Baofeng FM handheld? I happen to have one of those with an FTDI chip in it so its really easy to use. GM4SVM

Nothing strange about it, it's Russian Volmet from St. Petersburg or Rostov. I pick it up all the time.

Works fine with any external antenna: loops amplified or not, longwire, end fed, and supports very well the higher ganancy, with a good kit of 6 attenuation levels

Interestingly, in my opinion, the main difference here is the sound, and it's not merely due to the difference in speaker size. While the DX-286 sounds like it has a 4k bandwidth maximum, the Belka-DX sounds more like it has an 8k bandwidth. Thanks for the comparison.👍🏻

Just posted on your other video with BBC Cornwall on 95.2. Looks like you are in the exact same place and you get the option to listen to either BBC Devon or Cornwall.

Such a happy fond memory of what was once a good radio station that has now been ruined by the entire BBC. 95.2 FM you was somewhere in the East part of Cornwall with the signal transmitting from Caradon Hill near Liskeard? FM signal is nowhere near strong as BBC Devon on 103.4. Half of East Cornwall in places like Hannafore of West Looe gets better signal from Devon than they do of Liskeard.

I just received my ATS 20+ today and the USB Download is not recognized by my computers com ports. The driver is installed and the computer does see my ATS 25 but not the 20+. 😢. So I can not update the firmware. 😢 I tried 10 different cables. My nano board has no pins at the front of the board. So I wonder whats up with that.

I have the same Belka DX and am thinking about getting the DX 286, haven't decided as it doesn't have SSB and CW modes.

The Anker Soundcore Mini is a great add-on speaker for the Belka. The significant Sound Quality difference makes the comparison less useful compared to your other posts. One more thing, the Belka depends on a audio or USB cable for the ground plane. Alex EU1ME the Belka designer, have traded emails about this. The Belka is the best.

Thank You Kevin O'Reilly, excellent tutorial, it worked perfectly for me on x2 of DM 1701. Initially Windows 11 said their was no firmware file then I spotted the drop down menu to the right of files name box, and selected legacy driver then it showed the driver.

You can also use the Tecsun longwire antenna for FM reception with the Qodosen, I found that the signal is stronger than with the telescopic antenna.

I paid £27 for mine - on 2m it produces 4.5W and 24.5W. On 70cm a little less than that. I haven't had it on the bench yet, so haven't measured signal purity, though I had a local ham check the spectrum scope on his 705 and reckoned it's clean. The manual is actually written in English and the the thing has a cast alloy case. You couldn't buy the box for £27. I find the rx audio a bit flat, but on TX I switched between my 9700 and the IC-980Pro on the sly during a couple of contacts and no one commented. So the transmitted audio must be reasonable.

I use mine for portable outings with my club where less experienced operators will be using it. Simple to use, no complex controls, works well for what it is. I did install the optional filter FL222, purchased used off eBay since it does not seem to be in production any longer.
