    This may be the ideal sprocket setup for me,. I motorcycle travel a lot, however, I avoid interstates whenever possible and try to keep it at around 70 mph max on the state and US highways that we have here in the west.

    That’s sounds good for my type of riding.
    65mph is fine with me, if I’m too slow for others, they can pass, or I’ll get over if there’s a shoulder, otherwise I’m like a bicycle rider, they can just suck it up!

      Lol! 1500mi. With this set up & it’s working great for on & off road still. Thanks for watching!

    Torque specs are the same as a Pan head. Snug, tight and quite tight.

    Hello KC, lemme preface with a comment about Pa. Family and I visited Gettysburg many times in the 90's. Beautiful!
    I'm gonna replace both sprockets n chain on my '22 Adventure KLR with a 15-43 and X ring chain system. Q: didju feel more bike vibrations with that new front sprocket? I just got my kit from Dennis kirk and see the front sprocket has no rubber grommet.
    Thank u sir! Excellent and informative vid. I should be up and running in a few days.

      Basically every dual sport I’ve purchased has come with rubber damper on front sprocket, I have at 1 time or another replaced them all with non dampened sprockets. I have never experienced any noticeable additional vibration, including the KLR. Thanks for watching!

    How it feel at 75-80 before sprocket change? I had a 2012 and went to a more highway sprocket and it still wasn’t fun… beyond buzzy. How’s the new KLR feel at 75 though, less vibration? PS, what’s your preferred oil?

    • @kcoutside7143
      @kcoutside7143  Před rokem

      With this set up 70-75mph is max cruising speed. 80 is getting maxed out. The vibrations/buzz doesn’t seem crazy to me. I usually just run the recommended weight oil in factory brand or amsoil, usually non synthetic, I change my oil much more frequently than recommended also.

    Does changing the front sprocket to a 14 help with low speed a little bit? I'm somewhat of a beginner (had dirt bike a long time ago) and I really don't like how fast you have go in 1st gear to trail ride without the motor lugging

    • @kcoutside7143
      @kcoutside7143  Před rokem +1

      It drastically improves 1st gear, much better for slow trail riding, keep in mind though speedometer reading will not be accurate. If speedo reads 54mph, your actually only doing about 50mph. Top cruising speed will be around 65-70, top speed about 80.

    What rear sprocket are you running and did you have to replace the chain?

    • @kcoutside7143
      @kcoutside7143  Před rokem +1

      44 tooth on rear , factory chain. It’s a JT sprocket.

    Did it make your speed-O read incorrectly?

    • @kcoutside7143
      @kcoutside7143  Před rokem

      It will read incorrect, since speed sensor is on counter shaft. I have never checked it with a gps. So I can’t be sure how far off.

      Off by 5mph, if speedo reads 60, your doing 55.

      I’m not a highway bomber, I would definitely swap to original counter shaft if I was doing long periods over 70mph. Thanks for Watching!

    I'm guessing you had that sprocket nut off before. When I tried loosening it for the first time on my 2023 KLR 650, I had the same experience as the Aussie at czcams.com/video/_ZltkwovX7I/video.htmlsi=KV0YISLnSnQWyv5v .

      I didn’t, that was the first time it was ever removed in the video, boy am I glad mine came off easy!!
