Just being an evil clone of Goliath who's smarter than him is scary enough, but he also shacks up with Goliath's ex, makes bedroom eyes at his daughter, and creates a sex slave from the DNA of two women he loved. Thailog is one of those nostalgic villains that becomes even creepier upon revisiting the show as an adult.
Who's the 2nd woman he loves I thought he had eyes for Demona plus Thailog doesn't really love anyone. I can see him becoming infatuated with Elisa because when she told Goliath how he shouldn't take his anger out on him. Thailog sees that someone did show some compassion towards him someone who didn't manipulate or use him.
@@catspaw3092 I was referring to two women Goliath loved, not Thailog. Demona and Elisa. The fact that Delilah is a subservient clone of both of them combined is both a twisted sight for Goliath to behold and an interesting insight into Thailog and how he feels about Demona and Elisa.
@@catspaw3092 I don't think Thailog ever loved Demona; he saw her as a useful ally and asset, and a fun time
+TheAdorkableRJ What do you mean by creates a sex slave from the DNA of two women he loved?
It's a kids show, but for little older one's, Elisa says oh my gosh, not god and I don't think Thailog had sex with Goliath's Angel of the Night, because he seemed to be a half cyborg now and lost his malehood I think it's called and has no sex I guess, it's twisting to show Demona being into Goliath's clone and it's like incest of Goliath's clone son to do that right, but no kissing at all?
And to top it all off, he actually scares the normally unflappable and ever-savvy David Xanatos into admitting he created a monster.
“You mean that creature is still out there; it has the money, it's as powerful as Goliath… and it's smarter than you?”
“Owen... I think I’ve created a monster.”

Goes to show that an evil Goliath is a concept that Demona thought she wanted until she actually got it.
I kinda feel bad for her...

One of the truest saddest moment of Demonas life
Indeed and in a way the day she lost another piece of hers. She thought she could finally be with "her love" and when she couldn't have the original she thought she could with his clone (whom she considered sharing the same goal as her) but she realized one more time that her hopes were in vain.
"Her love" was just a scoundrel who used her, once again the "same human" took her place and her own daughter rejected her in anger like Goliath had done before.
I think that was indeed the last stroke to her series of misfortunes and misery half of it she brought upon herself and the other half was fate itself!
The more I watched the show the more Demona climbed at being my favorite character or at least one of the favorites!
katerinaaqu Don’t forget after this altercation there were a few other times she showed up, The last one being a ruse with a hired gun pretending to be hurt to get in close with Goliath and win the plan went pear-shaped (as it always does) her daughter completely rejected her and the last thing the show of her is you’re crying because she realize just what she has lost.
Honestly, I get kind of annoyed whenever they pull the "Oh no, Demona is going to die!" crap like they did here.
She's immortal. You know this. It's been brought up DOZENS of times before. She could grab Thailog and jump into a volcano with him and be fine as long as MacBeth didn't push her.
@@katerinaaqu The sad irony was that the real Goliath actually loved Demona and was willing to work things out with her if only for the sake of their daughter while Thailog never actually cared for her. Demona fell for Thailog because he was what she wanted Goliath to be.
@@Elly3981 Yes and no. What I got was that his affection for her was of course real but when they woke up and saw how filled with hatred she was, he took a step back from her. He even commented that she had changed. I believe this was the final stroke for Demona, the people whom she hoped would understand her (or better she hoped that now they shared her hatred because of what had happened) felt questionable or hostile against her and that drove her insane indeed.
Well with Angela Goliath for a while was not willing to "work things out" because of his Gargoyle culture. Angela was not just his child with Demona but everyone's child. As he grew more and more affectionate towards his daughter he did hope that Demona would put some of her hatred aside for the sakes of their daughter but I doubt that at that point he would be willing to work things out with her. They both knew that whatever existed between them was lost in the course of time.
At least that is what I got from the show. I remember reading somewhere that Greg Weisman had indeed thought the possibility of Goliath making some sort of truce with Demona for the sakes of their daughter but never to actually be one thing again.
But yeah with Thailog it was clear that she fell for him because he had Goliath's shape but she believed that Thailog was exactly what she wanted Goliath to be. Unfortunately for her though Thailog was way beyond her expectations to that

Thailog is basically a sociopath, which is really surprising given he's a Disney cartoon villain from the 1990s. I mean, Megatron was pretty evil in his own right, but he had a cause and an ideology driving a lot of what he did, and he was constantly making overtures to Optimus Prime to join him. Thailog uses and manipulates everyone around him and doesn't care who he hurts as long as he ends up on top- in many ways he out Xanatoses David Xanatos himself (who at least loves, in his singular way, Fox, as well as his son).
He was “raised” by xanatos, so his corruption is all on his hands.
@@whitedragoness23 and Xanatos regretted admitted he created a monster.
@@Barrysun Even Xanatos was afraid of Thailog and that's saying something.
Thailog was intended to be the antagonist and rival to Goliath and the other gargoyles in season 3 after Xanatos makes peace with them and becomes their benefactor. Malicious and cruel just for the sake of being so, Thailog is more dangerous than Xanatos ever was because there are lines even the latter won't cross.
@@Elly3981 So true. Xanatos, while a bit of a sociopath, at least realizes that people around him do have some value, even if he almost always prioritizes himself above all others (it would have been interesting to see if this continued in that third season that never happened); he had a father who by all signs loved him. Thailog is a sadist and a monster who has never known love; Xanatos just has little use for it.

Substitute the "t" and "h" with the letter "thorn" and it's a perfect match.
wow. I watched this in 97 and never even realized what you said about his name until just now.
I love Thailog because of how he administers karmic manipulation towards those like David Xanatos, Sevarius, and Demona who themselves manipulate people for their own selfish ends. He's incarnate punishment towards the arrogant and haughty, and a reflection of their own tactics.
***** Xanatos is part of the trickster archetype. Thailog is part of the bastard archetype. I don't think Thailog and Hobgoblin have much in common. I don't recall Hobgoblin punishing anyone.
GregXB3 Do you think Thailog would be a combination of the Trickster and Bastard Archetype?
Not saying there isn't any overlap... but Thailog is, in a way, defined by his relationship with his three fathers and his desire to be their superior. That's the bastard archetype. His mating with Demona, creating Delilah (who is a combo of Demona and Elisa) also adds an Oedipal element, again... bastard.
GregXB3 So how he tricks Demona and those around him into doing his dirty work would still place him under the bastard archetype as opposed to being a trickster?
Lots of characters trick other characters. It doesn't make them archetypal tricksters. Phaeton on ExoSquad manipulated the Exo-Fleet into leaving Earth vulnerable so he could conquer it, that doesn't make him an archetypal trickster.
Demona tricked Xanatos into allowing her to turn everyone in Manhattan to stone. That does not make her a trickster. Her archetype is largely the fury.
Xanatos's archetype is the trickster... a human trickster like Odysseus.
Thailog's archetype is not the trickster, it's the bastard.

Let's not forget that Demona cast a spell that turned all human beings into stone at night, and rampages through the streets blasting and smashing innocent people to bits.
I wouldn't say Demona is evil she's just fed up with thehumans treating her kind like garbage & in a way she's right about humanity even though not all humans are evil. Couple things you forget, 1 He might not have known yet. 2 Gargoyles aren't human, given their regenerative abilities, maybe there was no need for them to evolve an instinct to shy from incest like we have.
3 Remember Goliath said that there is no concept of parents in Gargoyl society. All hatchlings belong to the entire clan. That means NO gargoyle has any clue who sired them. That means Demona and Goliath could be siblings. It's even possible some of The Manhattan clan minus Hudson could be potentially one of Demona's or Goliath's. We don't even know if their monogamous. Goliath is the Clan leader. He might have mating rights.
Gargoyles culture is that there all brother and sister they don't really know there patients
Angela. Her name is Angela.
Is that a new Gargoyle face I see, and a young one at that. THAT'S YOUR SISTER DUDE!
Take away Goliath's goodness, his loyalty and sense of justice, and you have Thailog.
Disney, you used to be cool.
Yeah, then everything changed 😢
i’m certain thailog only exists because the writers made the other villains too sympathetic
4:38 Thailog's thinking "dayyumm girl, you lookin' hella' fine"
+Vector Vent I know Gargoyle operate under different laws of biology and cultural norms than humans, but Thailog checking out Angela, the daughter of his progenitor as well as momentary business etc. partner- EEWWWWWWW
+CRocketSlim yep, and he knows it. according to the man who man gargs they can smell who is sibling and not to stop siblings from breeding. I was on gargwiki and someone asked
He probably pulled that card just to be an asshole. He seems to thrive on being a sociopathic shithead.
CRocketSlim: To be fair, we don't know what delibrate tinkering was done to his DNA, nor do we know what random errors happened ( remember he's on borrowed time). He might be genetically different enough not to register as a close relative to her.
@@RequiemPoete he literally is Goliath but evil. And literally came from his DNA. How is he not a relative
Thailog is my favorite Villain hands down I mean a evil clone of Goliath how can you not luv him.
when Thailog looks at what is essentially his own daughter with a creepy desire
Keith David is perfect as a hero character and villain character.
2 Keith Davids in one room? TOO...MUCH...SUPERAWSOMENESSS!!!!!!!!!!
He attained a new level of bastard @ 7:26
True. And no one more deserving was on the receiving end of that bastardity.
Man I miss this show...
That's the one thing about Keith David's who voices Goliath and Thailog.
When he does a villain you just love him even more but when he plays a hero it's awesome so far I haven't come across a character he has played that I did not dislike yet!
Keyword yet.
GOD I need to watch this show again
7:36...whoo boy...Thialog you have sunk low...whew...
*Michelle Lincoln*
His affection for Eliza and his love/hate relationship with Demona was probably imprinted into Thailog's dna. Then it transitioned into a perverted need for a combination of both...
tru dat.
right? she looked so ticked off!
that'll tick anyone off...
thailog is thailog, he is neither like goliath, xanatos, or sevarius, because he was secretly cheationg on demona, goliath would never cheat, xanatos would never cheat on fox, and sevarius unsure
Arsas: Xanatos actually loves Fox. Xanatos would probably have no problem cheating on a romantic partner he was only screwing for fun.
Xanatos is human and a rich jerk who was evil and chilled with Gargoyles.. so i believe he would cheat
@@kgdabuddha2264 he had a touch of honor in him when it suits him.
I hear the voices of Jonathan Frakes and Tim Curry.. am I right? If so, that's a MAJOR PLUS!
Later on you have everyone from Brent Spiner, Kate Mulgrew, Michael Dorn, let's not forget Patrick from Spongebob, Deanna Troi, etc.
wow this guy is evil. I wish that Disney renews this series or at least give the rights to adult swim to handle.
Adult swim would be great.
Or at least water down Thailog.
I don't if adult swim would be the best place.
69th Like in a comment about Adult Swim.....oof XD
@@fightingmedialounge519 if they can air Pee-wee Herman they can air this
Just noticed that Thailog is almost Goliath reversed.
+Pedro Partida Maybe this is where they got the idea for Thailog's creation.
It is
It's actually Goliath spelled backward. :)
🤦♂️
IT TOOK ME A WHILE TO NOTICE
4:35 - 4:40
DUDE! She's practically your SISTER! XP
Jackie McCann he doesnt know her
Considering that none of the gargoyles claim their children, or even seem to know which are theirs, there's a high chance that cousins or even siblings might get together. Hell, for all anyone knows, Goliath and Demona might be siblings.
Oi. She's closer to being his niece. Not sister. Not *much* better, but... still.
This show had the best possible voice actors.
Of course he's a bastard, he IS an illegitimate child after all.
7:21 Even Goliath's clone wants Elisa, though I'm very uncomfortable with how Delilah is programmed to obey him, that's very creepy.
4:34 is also very creepy they're related, and even if they weren't the way he said it so gross.
Thailog is a creep. Definitely.
well less creepy and more like sad, he is so paranoid that he has to program people to obey him because he is so afraid of them turning their back on him or betraying him.
Luckily Weisman confirmed that incest is basically biologically impossible since close relatives emit a pheromones that disgust each other
J South "She'll do anything for me..."
Erm. She was a clone of Demona and Elisa's DNA. Not his daughter, Angela. They weren't related.
Thailog is an existential crisis.
angela , demonas one and only true weakness
That's true. Even though Demona turns into evil, she do care her daughter.
That's rather ironic, given their names.
Demona's weakness has always been herself.
Thailog: I just love it when everything goes according to plan
Me: Hannibal Smith from the A-Team called, he wants his quote back
I just realized the Clone gargoyles are named after places in California. Never recognized that as a kid (other than Hollywood)
should had put them in kingdom of hearts
Thanks for reminding me, almost forgot, Thailog really was a bastard.
Thailog is one magnificent bastard. My fave character in this series, then Xanatos and Demona.
So Demona fell in love with the evil clone of her ex mate….
I Love it when voice actors Fight against themselves
Heroic Keith David VS Evil Keith David.
The Gargoyle was a bad ass.
The funny thing is, his main objective is money, but he doesn't need money to survive, and he never mentions what he wants the money or what he plans to do it.
To create his own clan
After 0:40 in the episode where Goliath meets Thailog is where my profile pic comes from. The first season of Gargoyles is truly amazing and I love how you can tell Keith David is enjoying playing Thailog
I just realized I can binge this series on Disney+
I’m going to have my evenings occupied for a bit....
just realized Marina Sirtis, Tim Curry and Jonathan Frakes were in this show no wonder as a grown man i still enjoy this
It was a magnificent show with top notch talent in every department. Actors, writers, artists, composer, you name it.
Yes Sir i wish it had stayed on the air
"And Alexander Thailog, the reclusive financial wizard . . ."
This sort of means Xanatos has TWO sons named Alexander. The baby he and Fox have later is named Alexander Fox Xanatos . . . you'd think Goliath or Elisa would've thought to warn him his previous "offspring" had claimed that name.
