- In this video the Steinberg spotlight turns on German composer and pianist Nils Frahm in his Berlin studio. Nils talks about his approach to music as a message, the passion and harmony that goes into his music production and how the editing precision of Cubase 11 plays a big role in his sound. As well as describing his Cubase sessions, he describes how the passion of the Steinberg development team matches his for music.
Nils creates instrumental music through truly intuitive composition, transporting himself to new places through piano, synthesizers and effects, changing the instrument relationship so electronic sounds sound as if they are almost acoustic and making pianos create ‘sounds from outer space’, as he says. Nils also describes how his studio - Saal3 at Funkhaus Berlin - was built using 1950s broadcasting technology, with chamber rooms especially designed for perfect room reflections, making instruments sound great, whether they are close miked, using ambient microphones or both for sound layering.

Nils is a rare talent and musical genius in this day and age
These spotlight videos are excellent. I'm a huge fan of Nils Frahm... so much depth in his music. What a genius and also a humble guy!
Nils Frahm, the Mozart of our days.
I would pay for having a coffee with this guy! Such a deep and inspiring person, making such a great music.
Imagine being this talented AND this humble.
Thank you Nils for putting into words many of the thoughts and feelings I have about creating music and being my own sound engineer.
An amazing artist. Very inspiring. I would love to see him live someday.
Do it… I have seen in 3times … in Oktober then my 4 time
I have seen him 4 times in the last 8 years. Last one was last night at the Sydney opera house. Humble guy, bumped into him outside the concert hall and he signed the back of my iPhone that I am typing on now
Such a wonderful musician. All Melody is a masterpiece.
What a beautiful place to make music! The place has a classic vibe rather than shiny with technology. Nice down- to earth guy & interview. I saw him live in Berlin a few years ago. I like how his approach is somehow simple.
It’s very interesting to hear him talk about his aproach to music and production. Fascinating stuff.
A musicial genius of the 21st century!
He goes through pianos like I go through pedals and effects haha. Saw him live twice and he was phenomenal.
one of my favorite artists, but I am finding the less I hear this voice, the less I know him, the more I can enjoy his music.
That’s fascinating, I think I’m the opposite
A great artist. Humble. Thanks for this interview 👍
Great. Thank you very much ❤❤❤❤
Nils, you are a genius! (from France) ❤
And there you where being guided to speak all these beautiful words that are all just perfect. Thank you for sharing.
✌🏻
I like how he expresses himself, engaging.
Algún día me encantaría conocer a este genio musical.
Enjoyed that - love his work.
Excellent video. Nils has become my favorite artist!
Mr NILS FRAHM is in Audio Paradise - amazing, inspirational - makes us want to keep on doing our song-music in spite of the many challenges these days. DEZZ 2021-0213 SINGAPORE.
Este hombre es un genio musical de nuestro tiempo. Larga vida a Nils Frahm
Te amo Nils!!! ❤🇩🇪 you are great! 🧠
What an insight !
I love you guys from Steinberg ❤️
True, there products are the best! Only drawback for me, they are a bit pricey with my dollar pegged at 150 for 1USD.
@@rizzleriz4457 "Their". "Their products are the best!". "Look over there!"
Thank you! Deep and interesting.
The stuff of dreams! Thank you.
Love it!
Fascinating thinking and feeling, I absolutely do think/feel that at least my instruments have a soul...
Nice and inspiring interview, also love the cinematography and editing!
Very philosophical and artistic conversation
A Real Artist!
So good
Great artist and very interesting interview giving a lot of insights of his thinking.
Btw. does anybody know what kind of controller (mixer) he is using for Cubase towards the end of the video? Or is it an Avatus mixer?
GOAT
❤
В общении - такой же естественный и настоящий, как и его музыка.
What track is playing in the background?
Sounds like “A Place” from the album “All Melody”
Somebody can tell me the name of the songs that are in the backgrund please? I love it!
the main track playing is: nils frahm - a place
the piano one I think is: nils frahm - keep
@@MrTomitas Muchas gracias Tomas!
Yes!!! I immediately wanted to know this myself as well.. I had to assume it had to be his work for sure ..
This is the second interview of him with Steinberg.
agreeable ESTP with developed Ti and Fe
Ein deutsches Unternehmen interviewed einen deutschen Musiker. Warum keine deutsche Version des Interviews?
the taste of the sound that you create is like you make the invisible make visible, I am talking about universe and spiritual world, humans are able to see only 4% of the reality, you make another 96% visible(or hearable). I am talking about energy, waves, space, manifestation, fundamental laws. I am extremely thankful i found you, and I found another color in music world.❤ check Mark Haughton channel.
Bro I searched wet fart sound effects and I get this as a result
heyy..
well you cant hear the crossfades in any other daw. its simple math
too much exagerated to say cubase have 'better sounding" than other daws..
interested to hear more about how he records a session, then jams it all together in cubase.
