This song is simply beyond words can explain. When I was growing up in Napanee, Ontario the Sunday Movie would come on at 5:30 from WWNY Watertown NY. A man would be walking up to the theatre in the rain, stop, dismantle his umbrella and introduce the movie with song playing instrumentally in the background! It wasn't Danny Burgeous and for the life of me I cannot find him on youtube? Can anybody herein find that "One Armed Man" so to speak?
My late dad had excellent taste because he loved her songs. Then he passed along the appreciation. Hope she gives concerts in heaven and my dad enjoys them!

@@alexander_avila I'm guessing a trait of many singers today is that they use a lot more force in their vocalization, with twists and turns in the melody, I can kinda understand why some might think it's just showing off. I mean, I think my heart rate fell and calmed the moment she began singing.

Incredible. I am so grateful I grew up in the 70's. My mother was a ballroom dancer and I was exposed to the greatest musical melodies.
This song used to be hopeful for me during my teens. Now 10 years later I feel hopeless. I still haven't found him. The lyrics is too good to be true...I hope it will come true.

I was watching the 1946 movie The man I Love and I could tell the lead actress was not singing the song so I went and searched the singer and Ms. Fitzgerald came up and I listened, so beautiful.
This the best version I’ve ever heard of.

Finally! It's rare to see someone talking about its key change. It makes the song sounded very very sad. Unfortunately for Gershwin that he can't make it to live longer. Him and Cole Porter are my favorite composer all of time.
There's just so much about this version that I love -The whole song is PERFECT! Ella in her prime + The Gershwins + Nelson Riddle - I mean, how much talent can you cram into one song? I've heard this song sung 1,000 times by 1,000 different singers, and to me, no one comes close. Thank the Stars we have her recordings to enjoy and cherish forever.

This is probably my favorite tune, written in 1924. Miles Davis’s version is also wonderful.Ella had a very poor start in life but rose to the top because of her incredible gift. I saw her live in about 1962 at Sutton, Surrey. She shared the bill with Oscar Peterson. On some of her albums some of the arrangements were too intrusive and harsh but Nelson was always very good.
