  • This was our embarkation onto the Carnival Elation Jan 14th 2023 for a seven day cruise prior to the Elation going into dry dock for 3 weeks. I tried to capture info that we as first time cruisers and first time to JaxPort would find helpful.

    Thank you for the video! I definitely like having a visual of what I’ll be doing that day!

      You are welcome. We were first time cruisers back in October and couldn’t find find anything that let us know what to expect in the process. We tried to keep that in mind when we went on this cruise to document the process for others.

    Thank you for this vid. The use of your dashcam and GoPro to show where to go was awesome!

      We had a great trip. We had the best weather for the entire week. I hope to put out a video on the trip soon. I am glad you enjoyed your trip. The Elation has been refreshed now so we hope to do another trip on her soon.

      I'm going again at the end of July. This will be my friend's first cruise, so we're keeping it local and small! I don't want to scare her with a big ship.....🚢

    I was visiting my friend in Jacksonville this very same weekend. I was on Elation's former sister ship Ecstasy a few months ago, we went over to the post the same day you filmed this and I took a few pictures of Elation, don't know how much longer this ship will be around for.

      After our trip, she went into dry dock for a paint job and renovation. A crew member sent us pictures. She is an older ship, but one of the few left that can go under the bridge. I would think that Carnival plans to keep running her there since they put a fair amount of money into her.

    I’m going in October. We live in Jacksonville so my mother-in-law is bringing us and dropping us off!!! So we just let the attendants know that she’s just dropping us off??? Can’t wait so excited. It will be our Honeymoon and we booked a Jr Suite.

    • @OutOfBounds777
      @OutOfBounds777  Před rokem

      Yes, just let them know that you are dropping off. They will point you along the same we went, but your mother-in-law will exit afterwards instead of parking. Congratulations by the way. The Elation was our first and third cruise. We have really enjoyed our cruises and are looking to book another soon.

    Me, my mom, my uncle, and aunt are going on the CARNIVAL ELATION in January 2024! We have 2 inside cabins, just aft of the funnel on deck 7. It's my first time on a cruise ship.
    Been looking for these reviews on the CARNIVAL ELATION online.
    Curious, what deck do you embark on? Also, what do you likes... and dislikes about the CARNIVAL ELATION?
    (goodness I sound like I'm doing a Carnival co. interview 😖 So sorry!)

      We have stayed in ocean view on deck 5 and also deck 6 in the forward part of the ship. I think we embarked on deck eight. For shore excursions it was deck four. The Elation is an older ship that’s recently had some remodeling (right after this video). We enjoyed the smaller ship size. I think that the Elation is a great value compared to other choices. We fell in love with cruising on our first cruise which was on the Elation. Most if cruises are bit short but you get a feel for weather cruising is for you or not.

    I live in Jacksonville and will be sailing on the Elation next month. Its my 5th time. I have been on 18 cruises. I love the convenience of driving across town to board a cruise ship. How far did you have to drive to get to the ship. I hope you will do a sail away video. It's cool watching the ship go under the Dames Point bridge and passing Mayport and seeing all the Navy ships.

      Jacksonville is a 6 hr drive for us. We were going to do ship video but because I had camera issues, I didn’t have good footage to create one. Hopefully we will be able to when we go on another cruise.

    I love your video! How was the security wait? Was it pretty quick just put the bags thru the conveyer belt, walk thru the metal detectors and get going?
    I feel like magic was quick but it seemed like there was more check in points I paused your video and only saw two spots.... 😮

    • @OutOfBounds777

      We had about a 10 minute wait in the queue to go through the scanner. It helps to have stuff like keys and phone in your carryon. We carry a 12 pack of canned coke on so that had to go through with our carryon. I had it bungeed on to the top of carryon. Once we were through the scan it went very quick. You will need your boarding pass and passport. The passport card or book needs to match the number you made the booking with. Passport cards have a different number than the book.

    so any luggage not being carried on you go drop off before parking?

    • @OutOfBounds777
      @OutOfBounds777  Před rokem

      Yes that is correct. Otherwise you will have to get though the scanning station, haul it on the ship and deal with it until your stateroom is ready.

      @@angelgregio part of your cruise documentation is printable luggage tags that have your name and stateroom info on them. I recommend getting cruise luggage tag holders from Amazon, otherwise you will have to staple or tape them to the luggage.

      I actually was going very slow and checking for traffic. I wanted a parking spot that would be easy to find after a 7 day cruise.
