My wife and I are going back to the Elation after many years, and looking forward to a beautiful smaller ship. Mega-ships are cool in their own way, but we started cruising in the heyday of the Fantasy class boats so they will always hold a special place in our hearts.
I’ve gotten a general vibe from other folks that this ship is run down & outdated. It looks awesome, to me 🤷 I think people get a misconception in their heads, just because it’s an older ship. Looks great.
Overall the ship is nice and still looks great. However, like with anything, you can find issues if you look. Some places do look "worn" but it is to be expected. For the price and the length of the cruise, I was happy and I really enjoyed everything about it.
Our 2nd cruise was on this ship and we loved it. Less crowds and more relaxed than bigger ships. Had a great cruise and the food was really good as well.

I disagree. I had a lot of fun on it and the Fun Squad and crew made it enjoyable. It was easy to get a drink and there were not a lot of crowds, unless you like swimming and then having only one pool is a downside.

@@HangingOutWithMike I really enjoyed the Reflection. The food was fantastic and the staff was great. The obstructed view veranda staterooms are a great value. Unfortunately I left my DJI Pocket 2 in my room and Celebrity has not been able to find it 😞

@@joseacd01 it was great. The staff were very nice and the ship clean. I had a blast with friends at Senor Frogs… all hubby got was the t shirt. Thank goodness I know all the words to Journey songs for free shots. We loved our cabana on Princess Cay. A couple days before the cruise my friend got an upgrade to a Grand Suite… G3. We were right above the bow of the boat and dash cam!!!! It was awesome and I am spoiled. This was her 68th cruise. We got back on 10/12 and she set sail again with her husband on the Spirit out of Mobile 10/21? They should be back today I think? We had a great time.

Hi Mike! Can you tell me if I can use magnetic hooks on the walls of the elation interior rooms? I was told that magnetic hooks don't work on the internal room walls.
I like the smaller ships because they are less crowded and obviously cheaper. However, I've only been on this class (Elation and Paradise) and the next size up (Freedom, Liberty) so I can't really speak on the bigger ships like the Mardi Gras. If it's your first time, I think you can't go wrong on this ship. It's a good introduction to Carnival and to cruising.

If it's your first time or just looking to get away there is nothing wrong with an older ship. Yes the new ones have so much more to do and they are exciting but each have there pros and cons. When I'm on a ship I really just wants to relax and explore the ports. Sometimes the new ship isn't needed for that, especially for a higher price. In my experience the older ships are always good for group trips and I prefer to go on the newer ships with one other person so we can explore the ship more and not be on everyone else's schedule.

It started sailing in 1998 but has received refurbishments/ updates in 2017 and 2020 and actually just came out of drydock in February 2023 for routine maintenance. It shows it's age, but still a great ship and less crowded than the newer, bigger ships.
Just came back from this ship. I highly enjoyed the smaller crowd. The food was VERY good and the staff was super friendly. Loved the experience!
Totally agree! I went on a bigger ship later and the staff were not as personable I felt and some places felt more crowded.

Going on my first cruise in April on Elation. This was a great informative video.

I will ALWAYS love the Fantasy class. They are so easy to navigate and the crowds and lines are much smaller.
I am falling in love more and more with the smaller ships. Less crowds and more interaction from the crew make the cruises better.

This ship is one of their smallest ones, but it never felt crowded and I liked that everything is a quick walk no matter where you are on the ship.

I did not have the magnet hooks for this cruise. I had a friend say that the hooks worked on the ceilings but not the walls.

Lol… laundry is $7 per load, & the machines only takes quarters? So you have to stand there & feed it 28 quarters?
It's $3.50 for the washer and $3.50 for the dryer. And yes you have to feed it quarters, but luckily guest services has change if you need it.
What floor are the washer and dryers on? I’m sailing in September.
The laundry room I saw was on deck 6. It only takes quarters and it was $7 a load ($3.50 for wash/ $3.50 for dry).

Yes. The standard domestics and then Carnival has their own line of beers. My favorite is the Thirsty Frog Caribbean Wheat

No. The smaller ships (Elation and Paradise) do not have the jumbotron to watch movies on.
