Jann is a great driver, the only thing he often had was his huge ambition and his desire to be faster and better than the others, which is why he has already had a few accidents. We all called him crash kid because no one had as many accidents as him. Because he was Nissan's favorite and they had huge plans for him (they wanted to get him into Formula 1 because it would be great advertising for Nissan) they always forgave him. When the accident happened, he wanted more like the times before and he tried the spot full throttle for the first time. That was a bit too much for the car and the car took off. But the real reason why the car took off in the first place, which shouldn't happen, was that the GT3 cars used to have closed underbody. After this accident they were banned and they were changed on all cars. Now an accident like that is no longer possible

Important to know is that the spectator who died here was along with other few spectators in an area where they were not allowed to be. It was a closed area for spectators but people like in rally races in the past want to be in the hottest spots to get the best view

Fans would watch the helicopter to know when to get out of the street but the Group B cars started out running the helis so people would be in the street while a car was coming in at 150mph+.
They don't call it the green hell or the graveyard for nothing. That track is vicious. The one other time I can remember where this tracked showed up in a movie was in Rush, where yet again we are shown the dangers of the track when they showed Niki Lauda's infamous crash. The Nürburgring-Nordschleife is one hell of a beast, man.

That sequence of corners doesnt exist at Le Mans however it does exist in the third sector of Hungaroring, they just changed the curbs so they match Le Mans with the blue and yellow. Also the entire sequence of the gamers competing to become racing drivers is all Hungaroring as well, most if not all shots are done in the reverse direction to the original layout of the track though.
That area is scary to drive into like you have to let off the gas for a while so you don’t go flying and my god watching this and see the wreck on the movie especially the POV shots it’s shocking and RIP to one spectator who died 😢
What’s absolutely crazy about this spot is the same exact thing happens in assetto corsa, especially with the gt3 gtr. You can feel that same force of the car flying up and if your going fast enough you literally do the same thing. This is seriously crazy the level of detail that goes into that game.

If you look at the first clip of him going airborne, I think he was going so fast that he condensated the air around the car like a fighter jet. Looks like two separate clouds formed on either side of the car. Couldn’t have been dust as a car and probably multiple cars just drove on that road.
Such a miraculous death, we can't blame any individual thing.. I feel sad for the spectator, he would never expect such thing to happen with him... Life is short and death is unpredictable soo live your life that you will remember. ❤😢

This crash resulted in the applying speed limits to the track. Koenigsegg was supposed to post a lap time but the speed limit didn't allow them to make a flying lap. They definitely would have set a lap record
Just for some context of what happened since people keep blaming it on on design flaws weather etc, this was a blow over which can happen to any racer and unfortunately it happened to him.

Irl and game is different. But as a fan of the green hell I drive the track in full sim rig in VR. For a LOT of laps. And that particular part of the track will always make the car jump at full speed. What made it worse for this situation is that closed underbody. Which act like a wing making the car fly up just as the front wheels lifted. The air at that speed hitting that bottom of the car just lifted it.

This is why fender vents are invented to push the air through the car then over the car to keep it stuck on the ground.

This is and will still be an historicaly sad accident, but real racing is dangerous, safety has been improved a lot, during the last decades, but real racing is still dangerous anyway, people tend to forget it.

Unfortunately, a racecar driver has to go faster and faster, playing with the driver and car's limit, it must have been hard for Jann too, and I think that Gran Turismo, the movie highligts this point...
This crash resulted in the applying speed limits to the track. Koenigsegg was supposed to post a lap time but the speed limit didn't allow them to make a flying lap. They definitely would have set a lap record

Just for some context of what happened since people keep blaming it on on design flaws weather etc, this was a blow over which can happen to any racer and unfortunately it happened to him.

But as a fan of the green hell
I drive the track in full sim rig in VR. For a LOT of laps.
And that particular part of the track will always make the car jump at full speed.
What made it worse for this situation is that closed underbody. Which act like a wing making the car fly up just as the front wheels lifted. The air at that speed hitting that bottom of the car just lifted it.
That was a SERIOUS design flaw!

Well GT sport was pretty realistic then cause on that exact spot in a gtr you will fly if you dont let off the throttle
