Not giving Penguin an open umbrella in a collector's edition is just cheap.
I know right they just don’t give a flying fuck.🤬
Im not trying to defend McFarlane or anything but I don’t recall many instances in which Penguin had or used an open umbrella, he mostly uses it as a cane of sorts, and as a weapon since it has a concealed gun or a knife on the handle. I mean, an open umbrella would be okey, but I don’t think I’ve seen him enough with one to say “hey, it’s an essential pose for him, he must have it”. Again, he mostly uses it as a cane, or a gun.
In many comics he uses his umbrella like merry poppens
@@LaurieEllison-pb5gg yeah, you’re right, soon as I wrote that I remembered those scenes from a couple of cartoons
That's why I cancelled my Tim Drake order. He's not coming with his weapons at all.
Before watching video, it feels like McFarlane gets the small things wrong constantly, like all Superman heads are ugly. Then they cut corners with things like cuffs and boots, when it should be new pieces.
The collectors packaging and premium and deluxe makes no sense, but matches Todd's superman's ugly head dilemma...
When the collector editions were first announced, a bunch of Todd bootlickers made the excuse that they're more expensive because the "collector edition is for less popular characters that wouldn't sell as well in the main line so they have to be more expensive.*
Less popular characters like The Penguin? 🙄
Maybe if he had his own TV show ...
@@mellome83 Love the irony hehe
I wonder when Todd is going to lose the DC license
@@akiminusDespite how many people seem to dislike this line, it's actually selling quite good. It's similar to how Marvel Legends are mostly garbage, but it's still doing good
@@chewymew that's unfortunate
I would describe most McFarlane DC Multiverse offerings as “I can see a good figure in there trying to get out.” What’s usually stopping them is a witch’s brew of Todd’s ego, eccentricity, and penchant for a level of inappropriate re-use and corner cutting that would make Hasbro blush. You do get some hits out of this line, but most of time, you get foul balls and pop flies.
Well said.
Nailed it to the bone
The Platinum Edition is in Super Powers colors
I hate the stand for the card, just give more accesories instead of that
Sill not understanding why these are more expensive than the regular figures,🤦♂️ give us more hands, multiple heads, removable hat, more accessories and better paint details.
Right? I passed on the sinestro one which I would have bought if it was the normal price or gave good value for what we pay for it. Now it’s expensive and I missed out on it bec I didn’t want to pay the ridiculous overcharge (my fault I know) but it makes me not even be excited or want to by the rest of Todd’s figures bec I missed out on an important character I wanted because I wasn’t willing to pay the overpriced asking price and allow myself to be ripped off.
@@fredthetank8386 yup. These really should be $19
I absolutely don't care for the card stands included with the figures. He should do away with them and lower the price at least. One figure that I missed out on was Catman. I really want that figure now😣
I kind of stumbled into collecting McFarlane DC Multiverse figures. I was at GameXchange and they had a McFarlane Dark Knight figure in the toy bin. I asked them how much it was. They gave me a price. I responded that it didn't have it's cape. The lady sighed, and said, "Just take it..." So I got it for free. I've been thinking about getting this Penguin. I really like the way it looks. It's how I imagine the character when I think about him. Even though it doesn't match the picture on the box I think this will work for my 7inch Batman display/photos.
I have some of their figures, and its down to opinion
Some people love them others hate them.
Fact is,most ive got are not that expensinve and price wise i think they are very good.
Bought the arkham knight red hood from them, love it
Any mcfarlane dc is an immediate watch
I like seeing Anthony roast them even tho I collect the line. I have a like hate relationship with Mcfarlane.
Mcfartlane actually pulled off another excellent 💎. Amazing it combines elements of traditional appeal and their own esthetic. Amazing 😂
Got the collector edition Starfire recently and I feel like she needed more accessories. Like maybe alternate hands. She and Penguin are in the same wave. I feel like she got the short straw in the wave cuz Penguin and Captain Boomerang got way more accessories.
The artwork on Penguin matches the Platinum variant (to answer your question about that)
Back to back reviews?? 😎😎
Mhm
Anthony i want to know your thoughts on the mc farlane making action figures that don’t really look good. Also I’ve been making custom where I turn these figures into poseable figures and what should I do for skin tone
I have this and I’m content with it.
Fondjoy has been making rounds with their batfleck figure and I'd say it did a better job being a "collector's edition" without labeling it as such than what mcfarlane puts out there but hey at least the presentation is decent. Great vid as always!
I skipped on the platinum edition because I couldn’t justify paying 30$ for a McFarlane figure to be honest
I drank the cool aid with McFarlane toys for a long time. But recently through observation and watching your videos the veil has been lifted. Mcfarlane toys suck for the most part. Every once and a while they make something really good. I'm extremely selective know when purchasing the DC Multiverse line. How could I have been so blind 😢
It's the Danny Devito look!😅(penguin)
The nose being a separate piece was the first thing I noticed and was waiting for you to mention it till the 9th minute😁
I'll wait for Mafex or Mezco to release a Penguin.
Yeah wait for the floppy joints floppy mcflopperson mafex shit
@marvelmdc3130 If you say so. I'll take 2 please and thank you.
Might aswell take four waste hundreds of dollars on bad quality.
@marvelmdc3130 Sure make it 6. Some would say we are all wasting money on plastic, but I guess that's all up to your personal perception and depends on how big or small your salary or net worth is, as well as disposable income.
Okay make it 10. It’s not about wasting money on plastic. It’s about why should you spend 100 dollars for a figure that has loose joints and breaks. For that price you shouldn’t have to worry about that stuff in my opinion because for a figure it’s expensive. Mezco I do like tbh never had an issue. But Mafex I’ve had so many breaks and loose joints to the point where I got pissed off because I spent so much money.
This the one with the price increase for no reason like Starfire?
Honestly, as a mcfarlane hater I really like this figure. Don't have much to complain here apart from not looking like on the card but I don't care about this card. I'm glad I've got it with discount for my DC collectibles shelf, also mine has much better blue shading.
This is a decent looking figure but man those joint cuts are horrific, Mcfarlane just cant get that corrected!
At this point “Collector’s Edition” just means whatever companies want it to.
The platinum edition version are almost the same colors as the 80’s Super Powers figure. The jacket was a darker blue, the vest is yellow, and the pants had pin stripes. But that one somewhat matches the card. I like this figure as a throwback to that one.
I got their movie Black Manta and unless it’s accurate to the film, he has random blue bits on his torso and knees and it’s just weird looking
Im really taken by the head. The sculpt and paint is great. I wish we got more like that all the time instead of the weird hyper realistic attempts. Might get it for that alone and just have if a better body ever comes around
Which company do you think is pound for pound better? I know they're different obviously, but if you consider all of the aspects, price, sculpt, paint, articulation, accessories, proportion, likeability, selection, qc, etc., is McFarlane, or Hasbro better, in your opinion? Sik
Not even any McFarlane Butterflies? And he is deluxe?!
I was hoping that you would convince me to get the figure at full price. I will wait for clearance, if anything.
Not sure if someone else mentioned it but this figure reuses parts from the Arkham City Penguin with some new tooling, hence the mismatch in textures.
EDIT: The platinum variant is just the Kenner Superpowers color scheme, a mix of the two figures would be accurate to the card art but I personally prefer the normal one
I mean, I'm thinking that yellow from the comic panel from the 70s probably wouldn't translate too well to plastic, so they used orange. Not sure why that's something to get so hung up on. I would just skip the collector card and plinth altogether and give us another accessory.
That's not a thing...
I don’t understand all their sub-lines. Collectors, deluxe, gold label. It’s all so gimmicky.
isnt it? gold label and platinum being 2 separate things is nuts. and whats the difference? gold label is just a store exclusive and platinum is a more expensive reissue? so weird
Curious if this is a reuse/retool of the Spawn Sam figure?
Its pointless, have it all be in the same line, the 7 inch page punchers too. Todd thinks he's making it more fun as collectors with all his different presentations and variants but yeah not really
"Collector's Edition" means it comes with a trading card, right?
I used to think Collector's Edition meant smaller runs of characters/variations that are less likely to sell in stores. But this is PENGUIN, so I don't know.
Also, I'm curious why you use that Batman for scaling, isn't he the smallest Batman that Todd has made?
He's one of the most popular ones
@@AnthonysCustoms Ah, makes sense.
Mcfarlane's classifications are all over the place and it looks like they are still doing the 90s color variants.
I was surprised at how well that waist articulation functioned; but yeah, overall, not really impressed; that blue on his coat is so poorly implemented
Hi Anthony can you review the Mezco TMNT just want to know your thoughts if is it worth the 400 tag price Thanks
idk. i cant bring myself to pay that much for them so far. maybe
This line is a curse
Lol. You took the words out of my mouth.
When you think that DC Icons stopped and we re here....
@@tonileo9849 people whined about dc icons as much as about this line. I got all the Superman related figures and when the line failed, I got most of the rest on clearance.
The umbrella is reuse from the Arkham City figure I think
Im a huge dc fan and do not buy these because i know if we dont dc will not renew the license but the people who do but them dont realize what they r doing
What would you prefer, icons? Dcuc? I think if you cherry pick between all lines there's some great figures but I can't blame you I have a love hate thing for McFarlane figures. The classic green lantern looks pretty dope but I haven't opened it yet.
I thought the whole point of making or calling something a collector edition or special version is to somehow make it special. I fail to see how any of McFarlane’s “collector edition” figures qualify as anything other than a standard release. I’d it because they’re more popular characters, or in more classic designs? Thus Todd knows people will pay more for them regardless of the quality? Anyone that says McFarlane is better than Hasbro needs their head examined, they’re just as bad but in different terrible ways.
That collectors edition is just an easy cash grab for todd and a lame excuse to jack up the prices
I hate the dc multiverse line the overly painted horrible articulation and mc far lane says they don’t need good articulation like what and he has the nerve to say his line is number one toy line, cap bro I don’t believe it these figures suck Jada toys makes mc farlane look like garbage as they should
Forgot that thanks.😩
I just hate these figures so badly.
Grown ass man "hates" toys, okay
Bro I’m 12
I make stop motion videos and not having good articulated figures is just ass.😤
As per usual with McFarlane toys, I’m not impressed with this one. The neon orange is an eye sore and no open umbrella. The articulation is fine I guess. It’s weird that he can lean forward but most Batmen can’t. I recently ended up selling my Knightfall Batman because I just can’t get over how soft and bland the figure looks. Plus the articulation isn’t particularly great. I don’t see the point in having it if I don’t even like the other figures in this line. I do like their Wonder Woman. That’s not to say she doesn’t have issues but she’s the only one I’m impressed with enough to keep. She’s currently my only McFarlane figure.
... double upload
Indeed
The figure is not supposed to match the exact art on the box in most cases. It’s a representation of what inspired the design of the figure. Idk why you always get so upset about that lol
...ok. great logic. Shouldn't match the source material. What's the point then?
@@AnthonysCustoms 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
McFarlane figures are a rip off IMO. Overpriced figures with minimal accessories. Wow! A baseball card and a cheap ass stand for $45. Where are the multiple heads for some of these boring ass faces? "Mega Figures"?? I literally scratch my head each time these figs sell out within minutes. I have rashes now.
