    • @ThinkTradeProfit
      @ThinkTradeProfit  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Vim9654 Mitt
      ,
      One of the things I do after finding gappers that fit my price range (I like stocks over $20) is to look at their 1 Hour and Daily charts. I will look for areas of support and resistance. I will Buy stocks that Gap up, and are still in their pre-market range, and do not have a resistance area from the 1 Hour and 1 Day charts nearby. I will also sometimes Buy stocks that have gapped down, with a nearby 1 Hour or 1 Day resistance area close to the opening price. These (going against the trend/gap direction) are usually very quick scalps. Then I do the opposite for Short Trades, find gap downs with no support nearby on the higher timeframe charts. Also sometimes shorting gap ups into a major area of resistance from higher timeframes for quick scalp.

    Thanks Kent, great info. I noticed on your 1 min chart you use a 'line' instead of a candlestick? Also is the ATR your only indicator whether using the 1 minute, 10 minute, etc. ? Thanks again..

    • @ThinkTradeProfit
      @ThinkTradeProfit  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Steven, I used the 'line' setting for those small "thumbnail" size charts because I think it's easier to read. It's a premarket layout, but my main chart (the largest) I prefer candlesticks. I use the ATR on my 1 minute chart only. It gives me an idea of how large a stoploss I should keep (or if I should size down). It's a ATR(14), so 14 period on 1 minute adjusts as we get past the open and the ATR usually shrinks a bit, then I can hopefully shrink my stoploss (or trade larger positions). I have a 50 EMA on my charts as well. I use it for a "trend" reminder. A larger candle cross above or below the 50 EMA puts me on alert and is usually a strong signal for a change in trend (in my perspective).

      @@ThinkTradeProfit Ahh i see thanks for the info, btw as a new day trader should I be concerned about tax loss "wash trades"? I noticed i'm getting quite a few 'W''s in my closed position list? • @ThinkTradeProfit
      @ThinkTradeProfit  Před 3 lety

      @@steveng8727 It's not a problem as long you don't intend to take a long term position in a stock you recently daytraded with a loss into the next year. I have tons of wash sales because I trade the same stocks (and I also did last year). The wash sales 'loss' just carries into the cost basis for the next time you trade the stock. Be flat at the end of the year for stocks you have a wash sale loss and have traded in the past 30 days (when you're at the end of December of this year). Fidelity will have records of all of them on your 1009-B. I used H&R Block last year and everything imported nicely with no work for me.

    • @steveng8727
      @steveng8727 Před 3 lety +1

      @@ThinkTradeProfit Sounds good, yep i also use HR Block so will remember the 'wash' situation end of Nov. , btw i changed my 1 min chart to 50 EMA, but was thinking to use 9 SMA on my longer charts like 5, 15, 30, 60 for 'trend' reminder, make sense?

    • @ThinkTradeProfit
      @ThinkTradeProfit  Před 3 lety +1

      @@steveng8727 It's a matter of preference really. The 9-period Simple Moving average is going to adjust more quickly (because it's only an average of the last nine 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, and 60 min periods... etc.) It really depends on what looks right to you with the stocks you trade. Ideally, you should be able to find some bounces off whatever SMA you apply. Apply the 9 to NFLX on a day besides today and see how it looks. It might be too fast and choppy for a trend reminder.

    I use something in TOS, it would should me right below the graph, if the stock is trading at 50% , 100 or even a 1000, then it changes colors, also chows volume of the current bar and the average of the last 30 bars. i could apple it to as much charts I want as once, viewing them all at the same time.
